Agree with your points for the most part. The Lawn Mower alone IS over priced IMO. I bought the entire performance package when it was 20% off for the price of the just the Lawn Mower. I stand in the shower and trim BEFORE actually showering. Cutting wet hair ANYWHERE on your body is a no no IMO. As far as the hygiene plan. It's a great way to buy a small stockpile of replacement blades/cutter heads for the Lawn Mower and Weed Wacker because your getting two items for the price of one if bought individually. Once you've acquired your desired amount then cancel the plan. I added the plan along with my purchase of the Performance Kit and it allowed me to select how often I received the two items I choose to be shipped to me. There is an option for every 6 months. Select the two items you want or they will send you the stupid stuff eventually... ball mop, hair collection newspaper, etc. Too many people don't read or research. Also, the Lawn Mower comes with 2 adjustable guard choices that are supposed to be used with it. Your NOT supposed to use the trimmer without them and proper "angle of attack" is also required. This is described in the included users guide. People using it improperly might as well use a safety or straight razor to shave their nether region. With that said, I'm not slamming the Brio line of products by any means. I have the Brio Beardscape and it's hands down a superior trimming tool. I just wanted to clear up what I felt were some improperly addressed points concerning the Manscaped Lawn Mower.

I use my Lawnmower 4.0 in the shower and it works fine. Granted, I am not using the guard on the default trimmer, I use the 1mm guard, which helps pull up the hair to get trimmed even when I'm wet. I only nicked myself once and it was when I was trying to cut at a 90 degree angle before I started using the 1mm guard, something I knew I shouldn't be doing. So, it seems to work well and as advertised FOR ME. I emphasize that because I do not have very thick body hair as some other people might and it doesn't grow as fast as other guys, so this might just work well for my situation. Overall, the lawnmower 4.0 works perfectly well for me, plus the ball deodorant is great, or at least I really like it. So, I feel I've gotten what I needed from it. That, plus the LED works well for me because the lighting in my shower is kinda crap and I'm black. I need the extra light to see what I'm doing down there. Lol

I appreciate your honesty in this video. However, I just bought the 4.0 for me and my husband (separate trimmers) and I tried it for the first time and I was absolutely blown away. But this is probably due to the completely underwhelming options for female trimmers... I've had quite a few female marketed trimmers and they are all just absolutely terrible. So when I tried this trimmer and it cleaned everything up I'm a single swipe without having to go back over everything 20 times it 100% made me feel confident about my purchase. I will say though, I used it with the guard because I am forever scared of nicking my lady bits, and I was slightly disappointed that it doesn't glide over the skin very easy. Didn't nick myself and maybe I was being too cautious, I was very aware of how I was holding it, making sure the back was level with my skin and not going in the way I wanted to and holding it at those right angles. But it was kind of hard to keep an even pace with the thing because I felt like the back of the trimmer wasn't slick enough...like pulling something rubber over your skin and it kinda sticks and jumps as you pull it along. But still, it took 2 minutes to completely trim everything and I've never had a trimmer half as good as this one.
@meganwoehl5277
2 жыл бұрын
One more thing to add, I wish male trimmers came with the guards some female trimmers come with, where the guard is like a whole shell that slides over the top of the unit instead of just the back. I liked this on my female trimmers because it meant you could hold it at any angle you wanted, push in as hard as you wanted, and you were never at risk of your skin and the blade coming into contact. I'm sure this resulted in a less smooth/close trim, but it really helped with the nerves while trimming a place you couldn't fully see.

I’m honestly glad that I stumbled upon your channel today because I actually got to learn something new out of choosing the best razors based on quality and pricing, and also the LED light essentially help you to get a much cleaner shave, especially in areas that are dark and hard to see, especially when you’re bathroom has lights that are never bright enough to see whether or not you shaved off the hair. Although helpful, it definitely wouldn’t help me much as I’m pretty much as blind as a bat (not joking either, without my glasses, I can’t even read large bold text and signs, and to top it all off, whenever I look at an eye chart without my glasses, the chart literally looks as though it is just a blank white sheet of laminated paper, and not even the “old man squint” works to help these 21 year old eyes to read the boldest of signs) but anyways, overall, the light helps to see those remaining little almost invisible stubborn wisps or patches of hair that you somehow ended up missing, due to the darn razor gliding completely over the hair and yet it *STILL* proceeds to not cut a single one of the stubborn survivors, and it’s honestly so much worse than it has to be, due to my current blindness. So yeah, thank you for the insightful information about this topic! Hope you have a great rest of your day!

I own a manscape lawn mower 3.0 and it's my first electric razor so i dont have much to compare on, however i've liked it for the most part especially as just a beard trimmer. Gets a close shave, comes with guards, and i like its sleek design. as a ball trimmer though, I learned pretty early though that using it in the shower actually sucks imo, however even outside of one it does seem to knick me often for being skin safe technology, like every 1 out of 4-5 shaves. I dont go crazy or anything, i just trim just under and opposite the direction of the hair, i dont push it hard into my skin or anything yet it still manages to grab and knick my skin. Its more annoying than painful or anything else really. However one issue reoccurs more often and idk if other people also experience it, but when im trimming without a guard, the metal tongs will literally poke and stick inside of the hair pore. it can hurt a bit sometime but moreso i think it causes the shave bumps even ingrown hairs sometimes which can be worse imo. I still oddly like it though im kind of getting fed up with that particular issue so im thinking of buying a new one. Thank you for a great recommendation btw.

Well presented, thumbs up. That said, I just got delivery of one today before seeing this review and being a bit new to this specific type of product. Mine was a special Ebay deal: brand new incl all accessories BUT no box/instructions, neither of which bothered me £50 and everything works as expected ...bargain! So far, all is good, tried it out tentatively on my facial stubble, no guard and it worked just fine, tried it 'down there' earlier again, no guard ...absolutely NO nicks or tugs, though I do have very good manual dexterity and have had quite a lot of practice with much cruder equipment! In anticipation of wear and tear, I also order two replacement blade units (£16). If the battery gives out after a year or two, I'll probably open it up and attempt to put a new one in. Conclusion: I like it.

A lot of what you say is true, but owning a few things I will say that I personally have never nicked myself with it. I think you shouldn't shave in the shower because a bigger issue is if you don't trim regularly you can potentially clog your drain and/or rust the blades easier. Another "benefit" is you can get it for a little cheaper with the promo codes they constantly push out to get people to buy it. The light does actually "work" having the light shine against the hairs makes them stand out a bit more so you don't miss a hair as much but really overhyped and not really necessary.

I don’t normally comment on videos but I have an urge to share my own experience with the 4.0. I’ve had it for around 6 months and have had nothing but great results. First off I will say the online pricing did almost trip me up. But I was smart and read the finer details underneath. One thing I would say that wasn’t recognized when talking about pricing is that Manscape includes a bonus product within the Peak Hygeine Plan that could be valued at $15 or higher. Yes over time you’ll spend more. But ceramic blades alone are 14.99 so you’re signing up for a plan to get blades delivered on time at the same price they valued at. The sound really isn’t a huge issue, most people will either shave in or out of the shower thus having either the shower noise, or a fan noise. I wouldn’t get too caught up on the noise level. The 4.0 is much smaller than the other trimmer which I feel it’s better for harder to reach places. And of course something that is smaller and has the same RPM’s will sounds louder than something bigger. I’ve used this trimmer in and out of the shower and haven’t once cut myself. The blade doesn’t cut even when pressing hard. When I use it in the shower I’m not right under the water therefore my hair isn’t sticking to myself when I shave. The charging capabilities are really nice. Once I’m done I set it in the dock and don’t have to worry about forgetting to plug it in or have to wait after plugging in before I use it. Which I disliked with the 3.0 At the end of the day it’s all opinions and hopefully this comment helped.

Another warning sign for any product. If it comes in a super big n' fancy packaging, but it is a relatively inexpensive product (eg you expect a fancy box with a 10000$ Rolex, not a 100$ Casio). You are paying for that box (which most people then throw out), and a lot of the money you spent is going into the box (which is part of marketing and product retention) rather than into the product. The box makes the item look like it is quality when it isn't.

The only issue I’ve encountered so far is after a couple years of use, the blade has fallen apart. The replacement blades are about $20, which isn’t too much more than those of the brio. Perhaps the brio shaver is a better deal in the long run, but I don’t think it’s fair to call the manscaped shaver a bad product. It’s still far better than anything I’ve bought in-store. I have used the manscaped 4.0 for many months and dont have any problems with it. I knew from the beginning that "skin safe technology" was bullshit--no trimmer doesnt have the risk of cutting you. If youre cutting a sensitive area you should obviously be careful. I have cut myself a few times but I expect some occurrences despite how cautious I try to be. I do like the light. And I have never tried to use it in the shower. It seems appealing but using any electronics in the shower just sounds like a terrible idea to me, regardless of how water resistant it is.

I’ve used the 3.0 for a long time with shower sessions every single time and had no issues, LED still works fine. I upgraded to the 4.0 just recently because I liked the Limited Edition purple one for testicular cancer awareness. With the 4.0 I still use it in the shower every time I need to trim down there or trim my legs. Still runs perfectly fine, so if you’re worried about it breaking on you it won’t

@@austinallen5442100% recommend for doing a quick trim up down there in the shower. People downplay the LED as just a gimmick but when you’re in the shower and hunched over, you don’t really get a lot of light down there with the curtain blocking some of the light let alone your shadow. If you really want to go in depth with it then sure you can finish up after you get out of the shower after everything is dried up. Like I said in the comment above, the 3.0 and 4.0 are both amazing, the 4.0 is nice because it has the battery indicator letting you know when you’re running low. Hope this helps😁

Hi BeardTube, got recommended your video for a while and thought I'd check it out. I was always considering getting the Lawnmower 3.0, and more recently the 4.0, but having seen this I think I'll steer clear. My beard trimmer seems to work well for my nether regions (a few nicks every now and then isn't too bad 😄) A great introduction to your channel, been growing my beard out as of late so I'm always in the business of getting to look decent!

Manscape has a great name and great marketing. I haven't recharged the Brio since I bought it 6 months ago. Although, I wouldn't recommend ball trimming with either. There are two companies that have great marketing and are actually good and that is Purple mattress and Dr. Squash. But, I'm usually weary of great marketing campaigns, because it's lip stick on a pig.

I have the 4.0 and I love it. I was surprised how well it worked in the shower the first few times I used it and I never nicked myself both with and without guards. I will say the $5 cheaper is bad advertising and a bait but in terms of the manscaped 4.0 for my average shaving needs especially in or out of the shower it gets a solid 9/10 compared to other things I've used

Honestly, getting replacement blades is always a bugger. So good to see they have an option. If the marketing can optimize the option it would be better. It does not look like they try to trick you into buying it. Your alternative is bigger. This explains the bigger battery, but also from handling perspective I can appreciate the smaller size. The LED is a gimmick, but who knows. I personally also have some 40€ shaver, so all the marketing hype of the manscaper does not convince me to invest double the amount. I shave body, beard and balding head, but I have honestly not really a problem zone. No curly hear, no grizzly zones. My top problem is I cannot shave certain areas of my body alone e.g. back. Wet hair sucks, but I guess this was not their intention to shave while showering. It should only easen your doubts in case you shave after the shower when you are semi-humid.

I think I have the Lawnmower 2.0 which doesn't have the LED but I wish I had it. It is hard to see at times depending on where the light is situated in the room. If the light is behind me it casts a shadow and it's harder to see everything. I am a relatively dark-skinned African American man with black hair so maybe that is more of an issue for me than others. Sometimes I've used the light from my cell phone to get more light so having a light on the trimmer would help a lot.

I use the older 3.0 model and don't have any issues with it, and I keep the peak hygiene plan because in addition to getting replacement blades and such having it warranties my equipment with them. And to me personally that's worth the cost. It's not for everyone though, I know that

Have the lawnmower 3 and the new brio. Brio is by far superior product. Lawnmower works well. I have nicked myself with the skin safe tech blade lol. Led light is pointless. Brio is cheaper for a superior trimmer. Multifunctional. Also got a promotion to get the zero gap head attachment for free. Great video.

I use the Phillips OneBlade for trimming, it’s honestly fantastic, was nowhere near as expensive as either of those, and with the guards from 1-5mm I can’t see literally any way you could accidentally cut yourself. Obviously I wouldn’t use it on my sack (I wouldn’t use any trimmer on my sack, that’s insane) but it’s a fantastic trimmer for everything else. The battery’s good too and the blades seem to last ages (depending on use of course).

@@briyo9248 Um well no, sorry I don’t have a video, but I just use a normal razor. Easy to do in the shower with some shaving cream (sensitive stuff is probably best for your sack) and doesn’t take long, just take it slow and be careful. Pull the skin tight and shave, move onto the next spot pull tight and shave. I wouldn’t be surprised though if there’s an instructional video on KZitem if you search.

Interesting, I always doubt the heavily advertised products (especially when mobile games come under the same category). Referring to the subscription topic, I have always assumed that the reason it works so well and why a lot of companies try and rope you in to paying monthly is it's probably just a numbers game. Even if 1 out of every 10 people fall for it that's still likely a lot of money.

Hey mate, just found your video, wanted to say great work and really informative! I bought my package from Manscaped out of curiousity to see what it was all about and if it truly was better at trimming downstairs than the others. I unfortunately trimmed in the shower and when I reached the crown jewels it was not very pleasant due to the hair sticking because of the water. Needless to say the trimmer itself is pretty lackluster and average, 5/10 at best. However, the package itself which included the crop preserver, ball reviver, travel back, underwear and nose hair trimmer were leagues better than the trimmer itself, which is funny yet also sad as the trimmer is the main selling point of their brand and campaigns... Anyway just wanted to provide a bit of viewer experience for anyone lingering in the comments, great job and great channel, keep it up!
