Nothing wrong with Nostalgia! I think people are taking what I was trying to say wrong. Buying an instrument is about nostalgia, and story telling. it's about how you feel about it and what it makes you feel when you play it . In the video I said that for me - that wouldn't be enough to get me to buy the guitar. there's just not enough tonal versatility there for me with it having one pickup for the stuff I play. Thanks !

People are too focused on the price and nothing else. This is a second chance for multiple generations to get a guitar that made them pick up the guitar in the first place. I was 10 when I first heard them, closest thing my parents could afford was a beat up squire. This is a chance I literally never believed would come again at a "reasonable" price.

I recently built a guitar that looks like a Gibson Explorer- I left the wood completely raw, not painted, not finished, just raw wood. It has one single hot rail pickup, and I dont even have a volume control, the one single pickup is wired directly to the output jack. It is incredibly simple! I love the guitar, it is really awesome. Sometimes simple is just the way to go, period. I think the idea of this strat is killer.

While 1 pickup and 1 knob is too minimal for my taste, I can see the appeal it has for some people, and I can imagine this setup makes you think and play differently. I've wanted one for 17 years and finally can order one and don't even want it now. $1300 is to much to pay for nostalgia for me. I know it's a guitar I won't even play as I'm not a fan of the invader. I threw one in a schecter I own and swapped it out for a black winter later because the invader is so impractical for pretty much so everything other than power chords. The problem is tech has progressed since the early 00's and pickups have gotten better. There's many pickups that do power chords better and are also versatile enough to not be stuck in one box. This guitar is a one trick pony (which is fine) however @ $1300 the logical part of me knows it's a bad buy, despite waiting 17 years for it.

The price also reflects how expensive even the base Player models are. I remember you could get a base level Fender Player Strat for like $600/$650. Now the base price is $850. Then let's add the fact that it's a signature. Fender will never price a signature guitar at the same level as a readily available stock model, so it's unsurprising and could be a lot worse ($1500+). Remember the Jag-Stang? Working at guitar stores may have given me this perspective but this is the way Fender will always operate.

I'd love a TD strat in my arsenal, but at that price, you could build a virtually identical guitar on Warmoth for less money. You get better tonewoods and build quality with them, plus if you don't like the feel of the TD's neck, you can customise the neck carve, fretboard radius etc to make it more comfortable for you. I'd go that route any day, because the only thing you can't get on other guitars is that Tom Delonge neckplate, and I'm honestly not bothered about that.

First, I am not really a Blink fan at all, yet I wanted, and ordered, this guitar, because of what it is, not who it is tied to. It's simply a cool guitar, in a great configuration, and I wanted it, so I bought it lol. And let me be clear, I am not trying to come at you or anything, and I am not an angry Blink fanboy or anything lol, I just wanted to bring up some reasons why the price is pretty much what it should be when considering all the factors. It really should be compared to the Player Plus, since it has some of those extras over the Player, such as a satin neck, rolled fingerboard edges, and a gig bag. A SSS Player Plus is 1,099, and a HSS is 1,129, and that's without American made pickups, so in neither case would the pickup cost be as much as the single Seymour Duncan. Then, factor in the markup for being a signature model, and the price makes perfect sense, in 2023. It also has a slab rosewood fingerboard, which, is a very unique feature. Does it make any real difference besides just being unique? No, probably not. And it has a hard tail bridge, which is unique as well, and that does affect the feel and response of the guitar compared to having a trem bridge. The only other current production Mexican Strat I see in Surf Green or Daphne Blue is the Vintera SSS with a maple board. Finally, the main thing is, show me another guitar with the Fender name on it, with a single humbucker, volume knob only, and a fixed bridge, from the factory. Right, there isn't one, outside of a custom build. Sure, you could buy some other configuration then change it, but that's not the same, and you will lose more money in the long run modding it, because no matter how much better the parts are, modding kills value. Even if you save the original parts, then put it back to how it was, then you still just have an ordinary Strat, not a limited edition signature model. The latter of which, like it or not, does mean it will hold value better. But obviously, if you aren't interested in a single high output pickup, single knob, fixed bridge guitar, then it's simply not for you, and that's fine! And, correct, in that case, you shouldn't buy it! Take care!

They're limited edition models because his fender starcaster semi-hollow is about to come out. 2001-2002 TDS Fender Stratocaster cost $500 back in 2001-2002. It's been 22 years. The current price makes sense, especially considering inflation. The $1299.99 doesn't seem crazy. Considering TD Gibson ES-335 MSRP 2003-2009 was $3600. Now they're going for now lower than $8500 used. Everyone forgets how Tom Delonge lost his fender contact in the early 2000s. Blink has been around since 1992... the nostalgia is well deserved. If the guitar works for you that’s all that matters. Eddie Van Halen used a single pickup, single volume knob as many players have and do. If one pickup works for u that’s cool and if 3 pickups work that’s cool too it only matters about what you want and what works for you. If you are a guitarist trying to “make it” I promise you the amount of pickups on ur guitar won’t be the reason u don’t make it, if you can’t make a song sound good on Delonge strat then buying a different strat with more pickups is not gonna change that lol. I only use a neck pick up in the studio. I don’t like tone knobs I dont use them ever and I remove them on some guitars usually one I play live the signal is a little hotter when removed. The main guitar I used playing live was a Mexican strat I bought new, I took the pickguard and all electronics and tossed them out, bought a single humbucker pickguard, invader pickup, evh volume pot (use them on everything), kill switch and I basically had a tom delonge strat copy I didn’t have the 70’s neck and it’s red but pretty much the same thing. I played so many shows with that guitar it’s a great live guitar but I don’t use it at the studio. At the studio I use a les Paul I have with some nice pick ups yeah it has tone knobs and 2 pick ups. I would never buy a tom delonge signature just because of the price all u need really is a new pick up and pick guard ur talking what 150 bucks plus a Mexican strat and u got that guitar. But if buying the signature guitar is gonna inspire you to play then do it.

There's a few ways to look at this release, but ultimately.. Fender have made a very strong marketing move on the rise of what's probably one of the most greatly anticipated band comebacks of all time. Maybe they'll do a Jazz bass for Mark next? that would be sick too. I so badly want one of these new guitars and have had one in my basket a few times already, just very hesitant on pulling the trigger due to the price. I totally understand why they've marked it up so high, as the demand is CRAZY and they WILL sell out on this run, that's for sure. Alongside competing with the used guitar market. My issues are, I've got a MIM strat that was converted into a TD strat and for the most part is identical, which probably cost around £800 all in, it just needs the 70's/Vintera style headstock (which I'm sure I could acquire and have the build still around £800 after selling the current neck). Other than that, there's no difference at all. Do I think this will be the last run of Tom Delonge Stratocasters? absolutely not. For supply and demand purposes, Fender will keep doing re-issues in years to come, I believe. Signature guitars have and always will be a great investment, whether you plan on playing them 'til they're dead or you want to keep it in a hard case to resell in years to come. Release will always be the cheapest you'll find one, unless someone really doesn't know what they've got (passed down etc). I think for the versatility of tone you'd mentioned.. Anyone buying this guitar knows, or should know exactly what it's capable of doing and with the new treble bleed feature, it makes it a great choice for people searching for that TD pop punk tone.

Thanks for your thoughts! I agree this run will sell out fast but they are gonna make a ton of these so everyone will get there chance. Later down there line you'll be able to get a used one for a deal, I bet

What you people need to understand about a artist signature is that it's always going to cost more than what it's worth. Some of you have been playing guitar for thirty years, and you still haven't figured this out yet. Anywho, You can take literally any mexican fender and put the humbucker of your choice in the bridge And you will have a guitar better than this one

This thing rips. I won’t be buying one, but just to add a little info here, guitars with one pickup have a very cool tone to them since one pickup only has one magnetic field pulling on the strings allowing for what many believe is more sustain and better tone. Eddie Van Halen, Malcom Young, Leslie West, Joe Perry, PhilX and countless others have chosen this setup despite obviously being able to afford three pickups. The line of thought that the value isn’t there because it’s one pickup is an odd take to me, respectfully. Strat pickups in Mexico factories cost like 2 bucks to wind and fender has to pay Seymour Duncan for this pickup, presumably, so I would also keep that in mind. I agree nostalgia plays a factor, but thought I’d add some food for thought :)

Thanks for your thoughts! I have definitely made more regrettable purchases in the past. I have to try some single pickup guitars to see what the hype is about.

It’s a great money grab for fender, and Tom. Think about how many people make these Guitar’s online for around the same cost if not a little cheaper. They obviously were aware of that and wanted to jump in on that. Throw his name plate on the back and answer more expensive. I built an all American fender parts version, fiesta red with sperzel for less.

Tom Delonge strat lol, that is the last guitar on this earth I would buy and I think Blink is ok. I much rather have the Dave Murray signature strat with the different Duncans on it that guitar sounds amazing, the Jackson SDX Adrian Smith is like 500€ I much rather have that than the Tom Delong crap.

You are right, but then, why does anybody pay for overpriced guitars period? I've always wondered. Tom DeLonge did the original because it was CHEAP. Hardtail strat with a single humbucker. Easy to set up. Uncomplicated, even more simple than the equivalent superstrats that came out of EVH and 80s metal. And at that, reports are coming out of QA failures, stuff going out the door that shouldn't have. It isn't worth the money. Hold off folks. Give it a few months and the price will drop, the poor quality ones will get weeded out, the nostalgia will wear off and stuff will start showing up on Reverb or pushed back in the corner of your local guitar store. Then you can pay what it is worth if you still want it.

If it makes money, Tom will be all over it. I like the dude's music but he is on the hustle 24/7. If you wanna spend 1300 units on it, that is your call but it's about 800 quid overpriced imo.

OK - So I fell for the clickbait... and a couple of things just need to be pointed out. Almost all Sig guitars are selling nostalgia and if it didnt work (aka generate a lot of profit) they would stop. If fender never started selling the Marr Jaguar but sold the same features on the "american modified jaguar", that model would have died in 2014 instead of being one of the best Jaguars on the market. A better example is the clapton strat. One can argue that 98% of the Les Paul range is solely based on nostalgia and at least that much of the aftermarket pickup market (cough cough - throbak - cough cough). Next can we all realize that we are closer to 2024 than we are to 2015 and the manufacturing model, and corporate profit model, has changed, so please let go of the "MIM strats are listed at $500 and $400 out the door" mentality. Fender MIA Sigs are $2100 to $3000, Fender MIJ Sigs are $1800, Fender MIM sig guitars are $1100 to $1700. As other people have pointed out - if you want to build a single pickup rock machine partscaster with decent parts you would be hard pressed to come in much cheaper - including the time you are spending on it.

If you cant afford it, dont buy it. Simple. But if someone can and that's there thing then great. Don t knock it. If you had one in your hands that would give you more credibility for a review. You giving a review or opinion is like you giving a car review on a car you have never driven. Lol
