Members of the Gender ‘Critical’ movement are so sure that these four questions destroy ‘gender ideology’, so I decided to investigate how well they stood up to actual scrutiny. What I found was nothing more than apologist-level incredulity.

I’m a Cis woman and I don’t know what being a woman feels like. I know what it feels like to me, but there’s no universal feeling that I and every other Cis woman feels and no one else does. Every Woman’s experience - whether they are Trans or Cis - is unique You could just as easily ask “Why is Gender everything and nothing?” to a Gender Critical person Surely, it’s not difficult to understand that Gay and Trans people (and every other member of the Queer community) face similar hatred and discrimination?

Oh absolutely, it's pretty obvious to anyone who actually stops to think about things properly, which sadly excludes all anti-trans bigots. They don't want logic, they want snappy 'gotcha!'s.

It's always good to remember gay men and women were historically considered not to be "real" men and women because heterosexuality was considered an inherent part of gender

Yesterday, I saw a reaction by Little Joel to a tweet by Ben Shapiro where Shapiro said that a society that made allowances for divergent gender role expression was suicidal (or something like that). My thought was, "Oh, no. Ben Shapiro is going to treat us to another argument from Procrustean logic." Different day, different rigid thinker, same basal assumptions. Procrustes must be worn out with all this heavy lifting.

"Transgender ideology" is a strawman anyway? I'm not an ideology, I'm a person. ...How do you KNOW you feel like a woman/man/ nonbinary? How do you know you feel anything? Do we have to submit our feelings to committee?

Really, the people with the strict "ideology" are the ones who keep insisting (contrary to Reality Itself) that sex/gender is a strict binary, and that society itself will utterly collapse if that Sacred Binary is not enforced, and who frantically and desperately stonewall any data that would suggest otherwise. Not to mention, transphobes insist that gender identity is stored in the balls, which is a laughably primitive understanding of how Identity itself works!

I might not know what being a "woman" feels like, but by her logic I must thereby know what being a man feels like. And I know being a man feels wrong for me. So how about that.

Well, tbf, since "Gender Ideology" is a figment of the Gender Critical imagination, and it's composed of exactly the kind of nonsense that the "4 Questions" video "disproves," they're not wrong. But I don't see what a GC person destroying a figment of their own imagination has to do with trans people. These 4 questions demonstrate a level of ignorance in the GC community which is simply embarrassing.

Yeah calmly taking apart fascist/fash adjacent talking points in a clear, concise yet damning manner is the exact opposite of being "destroyed". I really commend you for your ability to tackle these topics in a way I probably never could. Finally, there IS power in a union, and we on the left need to be ever on guard beside our comrades against these vicious, genocidal attacks. An injury to one is an injury to all.

10:19 whilst I do believe in the soul or whatever (Catholic as it happens, left wing by roughly the same way as the likes of William Morris or Claude Williams), my disagreement comes from somewhere else. I am not sure I'm going to explain this well but I will try anyway. I think sex is a gendered subcategory, after all humans divided ourselves into gendered categories based on external genitalia and other sex characteristics (hence why intersex people have had their own genders in some societies) and what not before we had a proper view of what biology is, so our gendered ideas get pasted over any categorization of biological sex as a consequence. That's to say human society and consciousness is basically human centric yes? A pretty obvious thing to say but important to acknowledge. In a manner of speaking I try to view the natural world as something that just is, that whilst there's an evolutionary line of development of sexual behaviour and characteristics, really all differences between any two individual organisms just are all the factual characteristics of each organism and they either overlap or they don't. Defining something as a sex characteristic is a choice. Like, some creatures reproduce radically differently from mammals (think all those deep sea fish and worms and arthropods that basically incorporate their mates into their bodies or whose gametes basically swim around as independent organisms) yet we still often categorize them as male or female, because we have decided that if they have a small gamete/big gamete dichotomy going on, that alone is enough to put the title on them despite the fact that the gametes might otherwise be completely different to ours or other creatures, might have completely different methods of delivery (like salmon) and even different gestation methods (like good old romantic sea horses). All that indicates to me, is that we took a category we invented for human social purposes many thousands of years ago, stripped it down to make it fit scientific categorization more, and then did our best to cram every animal and plant on earth into it, which to me makes sex a gendered category in its inception even though it is only concerned with biological phenomenon.

If gender identity were as rigid as conservatives would have us believe, male authors would not be able to create convincing female characters & female authors would not be able to make convincing male characters. Ooooops. All story telling is invalid I guess. All novels, films, tv serials, myths, short stories, etc; I guess we have to throw them all away.

Hey, just found your channel. Now, I’m not very smart when it comes to this gender stuff and I myself am cis. So when it comes to this I prefer to just listen to the actual queer people since they know more about then I do. But I’m curious, how do your pronouns work? Like you said she/her and they/them. How can you have female pronouns but also non-binary pronouns? Not tryna be a jackass here, just curious.

They/Them are gender neutral, so you don't have to be non-binary, though I am, specifically femmefluid, shifting between the androgyny and feminine.
