*ONE LAST POINT: RESEARCH* One point I forgot to add is RESEARCH. You'll be required to get down to the business of googling much stuff from grammar to all various topics that relate to what the test is about. Sometimes the test can be on any topic or field i.e science, religion, history, etc.

@@bappy9618 I believe that would be cheating. I won't encourage that. If you rig your way through GoTranscript, you will easily still be kicked out because of producing poor transcripts. The money is not even worth the stress if this isn't the type of job you would spend your time on. If your grasp of English or any of the languages they offer the audio test is decent, it shouldn't be that hard to pass the test after doing all the four that I've mentioned in the video. If in all honesty you completely think AI transcript sites will help you once you join the site, I will tell you, that's actually false. This job needs one to understand what's being talked about which the AI can't at this moment. If you feel you're just forcing and rigging your way through it, just try other online hustles like surveys, reviews, etc.

Once you get accepted, your transcript will always be rated according to the guidelines by the editors. If you passed the test with the help of someone or bought an account, you're likely to easily not follow the guidelines, which means the editor will report you for not following the guidelines and you will be removed from the system. Again, the pay rates in transcription in general as an industry are pretty low. I won't encourage you to stress over this job if you completely have no grasp of the language you're applying for.

How long did they take to give you feedback after you retake the test?
@onlinegigs101
3 жыл бұрын
When I failed the test, they gave me feedback within 24 hours. When I passed the test, it took about 48 hours to get their feedback. Usually, it takes about 24-48 hours. Always check your email or log on to the application page gotranscript.com/transcription-jobs/apply. If you find the audio test on the application page, that means you didn't pass the test and therefore you can retake the test again.

@@almogheeraalmamoun6993 I hope you heard back from them. I've checked with the support and I was told now it could take up to 30 days. Although that might be the case, I don't think it will go past 10 days for them to get back to you as that's the same time it takes for editors to get their tests reviewed. It's been over a year since I applied and passed the test. I guess they're currently receiving more applicants than way back then.

Any tips for improving listening? I'm not a native speaker I understand KZitem and Netflix shows almost everything. But I can't understand 100% of the tests. I always miss a sentence or a word
@onlinegigs101

If you're still not confident enough on the level of your grammar, I'd suggest you check out KZitem videos or grammar-teaching websites to polish up on that. If it's just a matter of accent, you can check out some AI sites like temi.com or otter.ai to help transcribe it. I won't encourage the use of AI sites as, first of all, GoTranscript is against it. Secondly, it can, in most cases, mislead you. The text produced by AI sites has many grammatical errors, misspells, hence will slow you down. You definitely got to research/google and be good in your grammar in order to clear up some of the errors made by the AI on the transcript. If you have a pretty decent level of English, you shouldn't fret. This thing is mostly about CONTEXT. If you can comprehend what is being talked about [get the CONTEXT], you're likely to clear up on places where you felt the speaker's accent was deep. In order to get the CONTEXT, you can GOOGLE the names of speakers,, sites, topics mentioned, etc.

Heres d last test I did, of which I was declined. Speaker 1: This audio is used for the transcriber test at GoTranscript. Speaker 2: Let's talk a lot more about numbers, shall we? Like all transcription companies, GoTranscript has some specific rules about how numbers are supposed to be formatted. Some of their requirements are different than those of other companies, which is why we keep telling you to keep those GoTranscript guidelines handy rather than just trying to remember them all. For example, there's this thing called the combination rule. Normally, you should spell out numbers that are less than 10. However, if there's more than one number in the same sentence and one of those numbers is 10 or higher, then all the numbers describing that same thing should be numerals rather than words. That means that if I say that 9 out of 10 people would do this or that, you should type the numerals, 9 and 10, rather than spelling them out in words. However, if all of the numbers are lower than 10, you should spell out the numerals. So, if I say three out five transcribers wouldn't look at the guidelines if their life depended on it, you'd spell out the numerals three and five. Another thing to be aware of with numbers is that sometimes there're different ways to write the exact same numbers depending on the context. This is especially the case with an era like the '60s versus someone's age being in their 60s. One of those numbers will have an apostrophe in front of it and the other won't. I'm not going to tell you which is which, as part of this test is for you to find that out for yourself. Times of day are another type of number that could be confusing, even to longtime transcribers. Let's say I tell you that I got up at 5:00 AM yesterday but got up at six o'clock today. Now, in one case, you should use numerals; but in another case, you should use words. Which one is correct? Well, you better look it up in the guidelines because the answer is right there. Finally, sometimes the speaker will make reference to a verse from the Bible, such as, oh let's see, John 3:16. That's the verse that's usually held up on signs at football games, or at least they use to be before the COVID pandemic. I don't know if people still do that, but if they do and the speaker comments on it, make sure you know how to write it correctly. Speaker 1: This audio is used for the transcriber test at GoTranscript.
