*** HELP *** Ugh, I totally screwed my connection! I had been getting the notice that my router was not connected to my account when I tried to turn on my dishey heater to melt the snow off my dish last month. I was going to be out of town (in Brooksville, FL) all of FEB so didn't try to mess with it until today after getting back to Shingletown, CA yesterday. I tried to do the factory reset (incidentally, I have a GEN 2 router Model No. UTR-211) and now I can't get connected at all. I don't see a new Starlink router to connect to, I only see the one I originally had renamed and I can't connect to it at all!

Did the app reset and went from around 45mb to between 150-200 last night, oddly enough this morning it's all over the place from 45-over 200mb. Btw I had asked about 2.4 devices mainly My Q Chamberlain garage door openers not connecting, found a workaround on KZitem, added an old router that's 2.4 to the starlink router and connected my garage doors to it to it, it's working perfectly now Thanks for all of your hard work and the great info, very much appreciated!!

Good content as always. I have been doing this weekly since your first post about keeping the speeds up. There may be different versions and routers around but when I do a factory reset, the dish heat function is not reset to auto; it stays off as it was before. The only thing I have to reset is the name and password. I have learned more about Starlink from you that just about all the other sources combined. It is a shame that Starlink does not provide much technical information about this cool equipment and system. I noticed a significant increase in speeds 3 or 4 days ago and then got an email the next day that I had been upgraded but we apparently are in congested area because speeds while better are not great but every once in a while I get a speed test of over 200 Mbps so I guess there is nothing wrong with my equipment or installation. I still get a lot of outages of less than 2 seconds almost all No Response Received and Network Issues but I also get 3 or 4 over 2 second outages a day. I think the satellites are still a bit overloaded and so are the ground stations/gateways. Still 50 to 100 Mbps is a lot better than being on Best Efforts.

@shanesdiy
Жыл бұрын
In my opinion and experience the benefits from a factory reset are a little misleading. Much, if not all, of the added speed after the reset can be attributed to kicking off all active users on your network. For example, I have 27 devices on my Starlink network at the moment plus 2 Starlink mesh nodes. Of course you'll see better speeds because all the devices that were on the network are now temporarily disconnected after the reset and a speed test will indicate much faster speeds. Once everything starts talking again, you'll see slower speeds again as bandwidth is allocated to each device. Do another reset in a few days and like magic you see faster speeds again, reset again, and the cycle continues. The system does require a reboot occasionally like any router when things grind to a halt but no more than most. Also, regarding the mesh nodes, after a reset you don't have to rename them, you actually can't unless you are setting them up as the main router, which you can do as long as the mesh node is the first thing you power up with the dish plugged into it. After the reset and you get the prompt in the app to add them to your network as a node the setup is automated, you don't manually setup anything with the mesh node.

Is the reboot of mesh routers only pertinent to Starlink routers? I have the Deco 6E mesh system.
@jcristina
Жыл бұрын
Yea. But it’s always good to reboot even your deco’s and make sure their firmware is current for security, speed, and reliability.

@@jcristina Thanks man! I was automatically updated to the "residential" subscription but noticed no improvement of speeds. I will do the reboots and report back my changes, if any.

I did everything you said and I just got switched to residential and my speeds boosted significantly as well but that's when I unplugged and plugged in and reset everything it didn't make me put a different password or a different name or anything. it stayed the same. And then when I rebooted the dish it also didn't make me put in a new password or name. I don't know if that's a new feature but it was downloading a new update after I rebooted everything and now everything's faster and it hasn't even settled for 15 minutes yet and it's already faster.

Joseph Christina, when Starlink launches their first batch of v2 satellites on Starship, how long do you think it will be before they launch the next batch? Will the time span between launches be determined by the amount of time it takes to get the rocket ready to launch again or by proving the new satellites out?
@jcristina

I believe SpaceX “could” launch 2-3 times a week if need be.

Joseph, I was following this Video and I noticed that I will have tyo do the manual mode as I'm using a TP Link Archer AX1000 router and the Starlink is in bypass mode. I followed anothe video where you went over in how to set up a router, my question is after I manual reset is there something else in the router to reset/change and or is the use of a router slowing my speeds down I'm currently getting around 4o to 60 down?

So, leaving your Starlink unplugged for 6 months or whatever can result in it getting "bricked" due to its software being so far out of date that it cannot upgrade to the current version, and "it's dead Jim". If your Starlink is so old that it would be similarly out of date after a factory reset, how then can it successfully recover? Would a factory reset be a valid way to recover a "bricked" unit? Don't ask me. I'm not even an old country doctor.

It’s not a certainty but we have receive report from some community members that yes, they needed to have the unit replaced.

First off all I have is the Roam (formerly RV), residential not available been on wait list for over 2 yrs. Will this work on the Roam systems? I have also the Starlink mesh routers (6), yes big house. Do you have to do the reset on each and every mesh routers or just the first inline?

Hi J! I know this may be out of the topic but would like to ask if Starlink is delaying the deliveries also in America. I live in Brazil and bought it a month ago. Today I found out through their ordering webpage that the delivery of my order was postponed again for the third time without any explanation . So now I'll have to wait another 15 days before they ship it (if they do it).

Might have to do with availability due to the number of orders. Honestly. Not sure.

If you are in fact roaming, the system does a reboot every time you move to a new location. The last time I moved it did a firmware upgrade when it rebooted.
