@acrankymushroom intrusive thoughts want us to 100% without a shadow of a doubt verify absolutely that the thought isnt real or it will never happen. Which is logically impossible. The reason intrusive thoughts bother some of us and not others i because some of us have all or nothing thinking. We unfortunately see things as black and white, "either im not gonna do it, or i will" . And ofcourse absolutely nothing in life is certain. This all or nothing/black and white thinking, is one of the reason intrusive thoughts shock some of us more than others. The mere knowledge of this helps me however, i hope it helps you too. Stay strong! Meditation, an SSRI (prozac), exercise, and talking to my loved ones has helped me immensely. Although i am not diagnosed with OCD, i still make an effort not to overly rely on affirmations from my loved ones. Ofcourse theyre always there as a safety net. I wish you the best of luck! Stay strong💪

I really need to actually do this, recently my ocd has spiked badly, and I’ve gotten into a compulsion of justifying in my own brain the thoughts about why they are wrong and then literally saying “go away leave me alone Intrusive thoughts” and what do you know, doing that has made it worse, I probably do that like 15 times a day right now and it’s miserable. It’s so hard to actually be like “oh yeah you’re right! Come on thoughts let’s party” because it feels like you’re letting yourself believe what the intrusive thought is saying. I really need to push myself to do this. If you’re reading this and have intrusive thoughts that get stuck or ocd, just know that you’re not alone, I know it feels like you’re alone sometimes because you feel like nobody fully understands, but you aren’t alone❤

@@GenZ_Kid_1 Honestly, all you need to understand is everyone gets these thoughts, some people have stronger mindset and can laugh and ignore it but people with OCD can't, we stress about it, overthink about it, feed into it, give it attention to the point every time we get an intrusive thought, we feed it and repeat. The only way out is to let the thoughts be there, don't do anything let the thoughts come and go and that's it. Practice makes perfect. STARVE THE MONSTER! Don't give it attention and with practice, when you get the thoughts you naturally learn to not care about it and not give it power and it slips away at the back of your mind. Intrusive thoughts are difficult because they feel real but in reality, we don’t want them. They are intrusive for a reason, obviously this is easier said than done. I struggle with intrusive thoughts very frequently. You are not alone! I do think that when you give into intrusive thoughts, whether it be compulsions like reassurance or something different, it could become easier to snowball from there and continue to give into the thoughts- but like I said, you are not alone! Plenty of people have beaten and controlled their ocd and intrusive thoughts and compulsions and so can you. Just because you have the thoughts doesn’t mean you want them, like them, or agree with them. That icky feeling when you get an intrusive thought, and when you really want to stop thinking about it, almost reinforces the point that you actually don’t want the intrusive thoughts. Hopefully this was able to help/comfort you even the slightest bit. I’m here to talk even if it’s not ocd/thoughts related- that goes for anyone reading this !!

As others have said, it’s come to the point that the things I’m worrying about feel so bad that I become depressed about the intrusive thoughts being right or happening. It’s SCARY, repetitive, and essentially depressive and intensely lonely feeling. It’s come to the point that the thoughts are less “intrusive” and more just horrifying and depressing. It feels like I’m just giving in and I’m worried that I am becoming the bad thing. Prevents me from accomplishing anything because the OCD thoughts seem most important. I don’t know. It's like scratching a scab. If you scratch at it, the scab will get ripped off and the cut will open up again. But as soon as you stop scratching, it starts to itch a lot more. So, instead you can try soothing it with a bit of water, or 40 CD you can tell yourself that it's okay and you're going to be okay. And soothe yourself. While refusing to scratch the itch. And eventually the cut will heal. But you must not irritated or it will never heal. And it can even get worse if you do.

@@hortense2784 I do feel alone sometimes since my family members don't really understand how it affects me. However, i don't want to be too negative since life right now is going great. I have looked for ways to cope with it and have accepted the fact that i am going to have intrusive thoughts and that i just have to know how to maneuverer around it. Thanks for your reply it made me feel very relieved. I hope you're doing good too.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

I want to go get tested for ocd because I realize I’ve struggled with a lot of the symptoms for awhile, but even just watching your videos has helped me quell and stop my intrusive thoughts in their tracks, while I still think it would be warranted to get therapy and treatment these videos are very helpful indeed (:

I have suffered from ocd intrusive thoughts for years, worrying about the thought I had and if I carry a thought out and not know I have done it so have to do a ritual to check to make sure. It definitely takes over my life 😢

The real struggle is when these thoughts begin to grow actual real life attachments to our emotions. It is possible to become immersed in these thoughts to a degree that they feel like actual memories. It is imperative that we separate the weight we carry. There are different rules for those like us.

No sarcasm. Thansk so much I have sever general anxiety I tested it after u mentioned kazoo which made was a funny image as one intrusive thought came I cautiously gave it a shot and I was instantly lighter.ive struggled how to reduce the neutral pathways of the strong fears that I brainwashed myself actively for about 1 year. I don't know how this will turn out as I've not found anything but I wrote your words down. I was avoiding to hide and at noon go under my blanket to avoid fear. Not being able to actually live life study work. Thank you so much Sir.

They're horrible. They live in my head rent free from morning to night. Sometimes it gets better, then it goes down. I feel like I go insane.

how are you now
@mars4105

@Riyuzako7 way better. It had reduced its impact for a little while. Then, some friend from work invited me to church (I have not been to a protestant church ever, and I don't usually go to church). Although I'm not a believer (at least not as of now), it gave me a huge morale boost. I started to take care of myself, buy myself new clothing, new haircut, you to glow up you know? If you are going through this, I know it can be hard, and that you may want to give up on everything, I know I wanted to. But it is not the right thing. As horrible as it feels, you must have faith in a better future, and patience for it to arrive. Keep moving onward, no matter how hard it is. Find refuge in philosophies, God, perhaps video games, anything (just make sure to eliminate the bad addictions once it's the OCD is leaving). Love can also help you a lot. It did for me. Although I don't think I'll be with this girl (she's the one who invited me to church), my love for her somehow made me stronger and want to improve myself. But beware, these things can be taken away from you, so the most important is that you are your own pillar. If others are your pillars, and they fall, you shall fall with them. But if you are your own pillar, then you will never fall. Pardon my long text, but I hope it will go better for you. You got this, trust in yourself and in your capacities. You will overcome them, and your dreams shall no longer be just dreams. Good luck

Change the Obsession for good. Step 1. Write the best possible scenarios on a paper. ( What is the best future you can imagine? Write it like a fiction author) 2. Get excited about it. 3. Read it over and again and again. 4. Repeat it over and again and again in your mind 5. Become obsessed with this now.

Mine isn't thoughts, it's imagination but basically same thing but it's just imagination, but I just need help with the go away because it's been making me suffer and more depressed and making my anxiety worse and which makes my intrusive thoughts or imagination worse and I'm super scared to just accept and let it go bc it makes me go insane like makes me feel cringe, werid, sad, and depressed
