Sixty-five year old christian here, having been baptized into THE Lord's church, the Church of Christ, over 40 years ago, and having listened to and digested the vast majority of your videos within the last three months find myself experiencing the "mindshift" referred to in your channel name. As a result of that, I feel like I am going through a metamorphesis in my spiritual life right now. I have to tell you that I have never felt like this before and, if I could describe it, I would have to say that it's one of the most, if not the most, disconcerting feelings I have ever experienced before. It's not pleasant, but at the same time, it's like a veil is being lifted - not from my face but from my mind. It's very uncomfortable at this point, but the truth is never comfortable to hear. THIS video, even above all of your others, encapsulates the entire picture of the controversy of biblical scripture insofar as the God "of the bible" is concerned. I am beginning to take the position that there is indeed a God who rules over mankind, but not the God of the bible. At the conclusion of this video, I asked myself "what if there is a one true God and he or she is exactly what we believe he or she would ideally be, but we attribute that God to have all of the negative characteristics you mentioned here?" Could it be that we (or the original writers if the bible) have blasphemed the one true God by describing him or her in such a negative way, and then spread this message over that entire myriad of years??? My "mindshift" has gone into overdrive. Please keep up your work, but I will need to take some rest breaks to bring my gear shift back into neutral at times.

You may be interested in gnosticism, which posits that we were created by a different god than the one described in the Bible, and acknowledges that the Biblical god is a cruel, narcissistic thing that should not be worshipped like he wants. Most early works have been destroyed for obvious reasons, but it's been an idea that's almost as old as the New Testament itself--people like you were questioning this god as soon as he erupted onto the scene. Most Christians ultimately believe in a truly loving god who wants to reach out to them, and it's still possible that the real god you envision is true, it's just something you have to choose over what's written about them in a book.

As a kid, my aspiration for the world - actually, the universe - was a Star Trek utopia. In this utopia, all the material and resource concerns for planet Earth would be resolved, thus freeing us to explore the rest of the universe. We would not explore the universe for the sake of conquest, but for the sake of exploration and the knowledge we could collect. If we came across a hostile civilization, like the Klingons, our first resort would not be "blast 'em to kingdom come," but to use reason and compassion for the sake of common ground. As the "god" of this universe, I would have the human race, and every other intelligent species meet as fellow pilgrims, allies, and dare I say, friends, in a grand voyage through creation. Sad I am to say, this Star Trek utopia has been shouldered aside with designs to make this country into Gilead from "A Handmaid's Tale" or a savage wasteland of scarcity like in the Mad Max movies. However, to quote Roger Waters, "If I had been God," I would opt for a grand, intergalactic, pilgrimage of discovery.

@DrakeTimbershaft Probably one of the best forms of sovereignty I've heard that actually legitimately sounds better then gods sovereignty in the bible. It's also interesting to note that you said discovery cause it's always bothered me that the bible tends to highlight that obedience or faith is more important then discovery or even reason or compassion, even though discovery, reason, and compassion tends to bring more progress and wisdom then obedience does. Many Christians may argue that without complete obedience to God's authority, there would be no love, reason, or compassion towards a better morality, yet ive seen plenty of examples where even the most stubborn hard hearted skeptics, such as mindshift, who have displayed empathetic compassion toward humans. There was an interesting video I watched on the great educator Noam Chomsky who said something so profound about education and further learning that blew my mind. I never felt "the love of God". I was always subconsciously afraid of him. Afraid of punishment, the devil having "access" when I made mistakes, so many things. But it's been really hard knowing how to walk away from this and what to currently cling to as I have no spouse or anyone to really talk to about it because most of the people in my life are Christians. If you ever have time to have a conversation it would mean so much to me. For the Tower of Babel: I'd be more impressed than scared, since I'm more keenly aware of how much teamwork it takes to undertake that kind of a project (logistics, cooperation, etc). For world hunger: I'd give flashes of inspiration (if I was trying to minimize my interference) on the way to make it happen, to certain key people that can make it happen, and give them the desire to make it happen.

They are in tension and contradict. If perfection means this being cannot change or lacks for nothing, then the idea of a creator or regretting does not make sense for this “ perfect” being.

Hmm, let's see, I'm not some being who, in sequential order, decided to want a garden, created said garden, immediately realized that I did not like gardening, created a gardener, watched the gardener go about happily, figured I didn't plan for the gardener to be happy, snuck in and stole a piece of the gardener in order to create a sex-changed clone (hey, look, the Starfield pronoun "controversy" millenia before Starfield), forbade the clone from eating a very specific fruit, literally pointed to that forbidden fruit so that the clone knows, and left that forbidden fruit completely defenseless (it's not as if I tasked a talking snake to guard it), and punished my creation for doing what I allowed them to do, which was, in all likelihood, nothing more than an attempt to cover up my first royal f^^^-up there. That alone shows that I am nowhere near as much of a bumbling office temp with a bad attitude as God is - and that is only the first of a rather long list of royal f^^^-ups that this supposedly tri-omni deity has to their name. And some people want to accuse me of "playing God" because I do not want to f^^^ things up, let alone royally, like God did? Then again, maybe if I was more like God and had any number of royal f^^^-ups like he does, I would end up with billions of [insert preferred derogatory label here] worshipping me, along with inspiring having copies of the story of my royal f^^^-up being left in every hotel by some rando named Gideon, who is probably Irish, given that every copy they left starts with "In the beginning..." I always thought that being given only two choices, heaven or hell and one life in which to get it right was a terrible plan. To make matters worse, you can be the most moral Muslim, Jew, Hindu, atheist etc. and still go to hell all based on being born in the wrong country to the wrong parents. On the other hand you can be a Nazi mass murderer or a murdering career criminal and as long as you make Jesus your BFF and tell him you are sorry you will go to heaven. (What I have always found really revolting is the victims of these terrible people went to hell if they were not Christians or were not the right kind of Christian. Also, what if the family members of the victims become the proper kind of Christians? They will then be in heaven with the person that put their loved ones in hell.) This is the best plan an all powerful, all knowing being can come up with? I have heard it said that God wont allow sin in his presence. Fine, then have more than one of two places where people can go to fix their shortcomings. Or, allow reincarnation so people have more than one chance to "get right with God" and send them back to Earth as often as necessary to achieve that goal.

Get rid of physical afflictions like cancer and mental afflictions like Narcissism and BPD. Make it so that producing waste is NOT necessary. Make the necessity of killing and eating in order to survive NOT a thing. Ability to breathe under water and fly. Make it so we DO NOT have to eat, speak, and breathe through the same hole. Whenever a sin is about to happen, the person would immediately recieve all the information out there on what would happen if that sin transpires. Being an empath, the observing and feeling of the world’s suffering is beyond comprehensible. Now I find myself not questioning god, but just not believing there could be such a god and I’m feeling the loss. What we’ve been told since childhood is not to question and just have faith, however a critical thinking adult needs more than that. Something that I do find fascinating and would love to know your views on are the near death experiences people claim to have and now the new phenomena of pre birth memories.
