I tried to make Brilliance AI work, but I ran over 100 images through it and ON1's Brilliance AI made my images look so bad that I went back to using Luminar Neo. It was just taking too long to correct the damage that the Brilliance AI did and fine tuning in the preferences didn't help much. I've also did a comparison between Neo and ON1 2024 with trying to make some of the same images I edited in Neo look as good in ON1... but I couldn't. I'm sadly disappointed with the new ON1 Raw 2024.

I'm sorry to hear that Brilliance AI didn't work for you. That is a little odd and I am sure the team at ON1 would be interested in seeing what result came out of using Brilliance AI on your images. What type of problems Brilliance AI cause to your images? Was it a color issue or an exposure issue? What sliders did you see over manipulated? Was it the local masks that caused the problem? I am just interested because I have ran 400 images through Brilliance AI and have not seen terrible results. Some of the images didn't come out quite like I would prefer, but after a few tweaks to the fine tuning options I was able to get what I wanted. My issue was the photos were coming out too bright for my style of photography. After I modified the settings in preferences I started to get a really good baseline. With all that said, I hope NEO does work out for you. That is a great program and I enjoy using it myself.

Hi Chris, thank you again, another great tutorial. I`m looking forward to 2024 version. Like the car by the way. The other day I edited over 200 images that I took while on a day out with friends at Bayfield Hall sculpture trail, near Holt, UK. I needed to get the images edited, just basic edits to send to my friends and some may be put on a website. I mostly used AI Auto and just the odd adjustment to the settings and some cropping where needed. AI Auto did a great job and saved a lot of time. So the new Brilliance AI looks even better, I`m looking forward to testing this out. Also the faster speed of 2024 will be welcome too as 2023 did lag a bit at times and when loading each image to edit. I know I probably need to upgrade my aging computer at some point. Once again thank you for showing this. Take care.

Andrea good to hear from you and no problem on this piece of content. Brilliance AI is a really cool tool and I enjoy using it and think it would be something that will speed up many peoples workflows. Its awesome to hear that you may be getting published to a website. Kudos! I will say the speed of ON1 2024 is a welcomed update and I am thankful to have it. This program just take a little bit of time to get familiar with the layout, but it is really good. I think you will enjoy it and it should help you edit faster, but you can take your time where you need to.

Hi, Chris. Thank you for this video. Because there are many things in ON1 that are new to me. So I could really use your help. And that ON1 shirt suits you. And I also started using the tip regarding b&w. That works really, really well, man. Antoine.

I'm not so sure I'm going to like this new ON1 2024 software. It looks like they have just made this a lot more complicated than need be. I'll see when I get my copy. Thanks for the video Chris.

That is a fair concern to have right now. I think once you get your hands on it, it will be a little different at first, but then you will get used to it. Plus if you run into something that is odd, you can just hit me up and I will help you out.

7:45 Good to see that painting in or out a mask works kind of slow or "jumpy" on your computer as well. And good that you're not cutting out mistakes of flaws of the program. PhotoRaw still is my "RAW developer to go" anyway. Thank you!!

Yea ON1 is pretty awesome, and the painting issue I was having was due to me streaming at the same time. I try to keep the issues in to help people overcome the issues and know where they exist. ON1 knows where there issues with the software is.

Thanks for the Brilliance AI overview. Looks like something I will be using a lot. I like your practical suggestions for the future like shadow/highlight to be added the the Brilliance AI preferences. I was watching this in a window so could not read the menu items, but it looked like the wording of the options for masking the cars for paint in / paint out have changed. did I misinterpret that that? I just finished watching the latest "ON1 channel" about the new interface. They called the changes cleaning up the interface. To me it looks more like a move towards harmonising the interface between mobile and desktop. Things like click this to show more options or grey words to click to show more are not intuitive, at least for me. But I am from the old school I suppose so these changes are aimed at me . Not deal breakers but not something I will like.

Hey Mark great to hear from you! Brilliance AI is a unique tool and I think it will help a lot of people out. You did not misread, the new options are "Paint and Erase". You can still use the same keyboard shortcut to swap them, but I think the word erase is just a little more simple for new users. This whole change has been geared towards a new user base/group. It still does all of the things that we are used to as legacy users, but it is designed to real in new people, and I am good with that.

One area that Brillance AI needs some work is with cloning. If you use Brillance AI first before cloning out areas you want to remove, the cloning gives a whacky result. My suggestion is to make sure you do all your cloning before you use Brillance AI.

Chris, I believe to activate the color slider after clicking brilliance AI, you need to set the white balance to auto from the drop-down menu. That will then allow you to adjust the color slider. Roger

Roger I will test that out, but I don’t think that is how the developers intended it to work. I will test that out though.

As far as masking is concern i think on 1 should give us simple object selection, no need AI to give all region mask.

Hi Chris; Just got Photo Raw Max 2024. I've done about a dozen different photo tests from Mylio > On1 Photo Raw 2024 > click Brilliance AI > Done > return to Mylio with a PSD. All worked perfectly and the edits were very good without retouching, not perfect, but very good. It works seamlessly and have the best of both worlds, a top class editor and an awesome DAM. Love it... well worth the wait.

Thank you for the comment and I love that I am helping you out with the new version of ON1. Layers is a really cool portion of the software, but for many people they may never need to use it. I have a video planned for later this week that shows how I use the layers section and you may find some value in that. But if you never use the layers section, then you are not really missing out on any of the power to ON1, but my examples may give you some ideas of how you can use layers in your own editing.

Here are two videos on layers that I have done so far. The first video kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4Nr3a2MgouJnY4 is in ON1 2023.5, but many of the same aspects work in the 2024 version. The second video is a live stream that I did today in the 2024 version that is more of an overview. kzitem.infoFzoZ0V5zGe8?feature=share I recommend viewing the first one to get an idea of how layers work, and then jumping to the second one to see how it flows in 2024.
