I learned the flowers are actually small and deep inside that big leaf that looks like a flower...

The parts of Arum flowers I believe, are called the "Spathe" and "Spadix"
@plantwithroos

That's the two parts, yes. The total thing is called an inflorescence. Ill make a video about it soon

I would be so tempted to take cuttings off the plants at the gardens to take home and propagate 😂 I wouldn't ever do it. But I can't say I wouldn't be thinking about doing it lol.

I know a guy in my area that has one of these giant ones growing in his backyard. It was just beginning to open up the leaves and I got to see it before and after they opened. He said the flower on it is pretty big too.

Very nice. I was in charge of the Amorphs at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens until I got laid off in 2020. They’ve since gotten bigger

Corpse flower, it blooms once every 7-9yrs for 24-36hrs

It is the flower that smells like rotting meat. It only flowers every few or more years, as the plant grows either a leaf (the whole thing is one leaf) OR a flower. And it can only flower once it is big enough, so especially the first time can take many years.

this must be the plant my friend's mom was gifted by her in law back at their village. but she's living with her daughter in a condo in the city and she took utmost care of the plant until it become tall. Everyday the mom made sure to carefully loosen the soil, collect dried leaves, squashed them and put into the pot and water to moisten the soil. Sadly, it never flower though. i just died.

some plants are named for what they resemble and help with, so does the penis plant do likewise?🤔
@plantwithroos
Жыл бұрын
I think it's because of the flower! It has a very long, misshapen spongy phallus-like middle. If you check the hashtag #penisplant you'll see my other videos about it, including the flower!
