I was home on leave from the Army. I saw a person I grew up with, and we shook hands. I walked less than 200 metres before the police pulled up. Apparently, the old bill thought this was a drug deal. I was strip searched (they took me in a van to do this) and had 2 coppers' fingers up my bum, (one after the other because the first copper hadn't searched properly) looking for drugs I didn't have and hadn't taken to that point. I provided my military I.D. which I thought would be respected by the old bill, but that wasn't enough to prevent such a violation. Twice! This was all because I shook hands with someone I'd known since I was around 6 years old. I'm not sure why I was targeted, but I was cooperative. I'm white. The council estate I grew up on had two police stations because it was a rough place, the old bill constantly harassed people that didn't cause trouble and ignored the criminals. I have had no respect for the police since they fingered my arse. I have outright disdain for them now. They have earned every bit of that.

As a 53 years old Irish gay man and traditional Irish Catholic Patriot, Irish passport holder living 22 years in a council house in a socially deprived area of Manchester U.K., with extended family still living in the same village in Rural Republic of Ireland where I grew up, with over 30 years working in supermarket retailing in both Ireland and the U.K., while I’ve seen British society decline to a certain extent over that time, by comparison I’ve seen this decline happening at a much faster pace and in far more profound ways in my native Ireland - I think that the ordinary English people in particular, especially in working-class areas of the U.K., have been betrayed and cast aside for decades if not generations, especially by Labour - there is much to celebrate about traditional English and British culture and yet, we are losing much of this, leading many English people to believe that England in particular is no longer their country anymore - we Irish have seen this in Ireland to a far greater extent in the last 10 years, so I support my English friends in trying to reclaim their country

Someone buy that man a drink or a burger. He speaks so much common sense and is a breath of fresh air.

It's called National Insurance. Do you know a private insurance company that pays out to those that don't contribute to their insurance policies? Would their shareholders and customers be happy to see them take money out of their insurance investments and pay it to people who have never contributed or never had insurance? Just my freedom to speak.
