People are not thankful or greatful for anything anymore. I appreciated it and thank you. May the shills wash up in cold water if its not ice and drink cold soup if they have any at that time. simply because they are jerks. The times are coming and any info you may receive appreciate it. Actually, their is a reason why this KZitemr did what he did. Alcahol is extremely flammable, therefor it burns out quickly. If you watch carefully, you'll see that big flame dies out about 5 seconds later. This home made stove prevents all the alcohol from being burned at once by using the fumes instead. It's basically a giant lighter.

I noticed you had to pre heat the bottom. and you used 90 % ethanol. We used HEET, no preheating needed. Ethanol is more hygroscopic than other, so the water content gets more specially on an open container. Methanol is also a good fuel but need safety precautions. Later makers insert a liner at the bottom others fill the cavity with Fiberglass wool. Both makes the burning smoother.and seem to last longer.

Interesting. A DIY Sterno can...now you need at least two or more a chafer and you'll be cooking anything in no time. And so YES, Ms comment below, you can cook fried chicken with this idea AND NO Mr comment below there is no gas fuel in this idea since he is using Ethanol, which is essentially a chemical compound made from simply... 🌽! If you just so happened to be reading the bottle he used as his fuel it said "Alcool Etilico", which is Brazilian/Portuguese for Ethanol. Ethanol in it's pure form is a clear flammable liquid, unlike gas which contains oil compounds. So, overall this idea is clever and environmentally efficient AND YES, it can cook/heat anything in no time, however, patience is a virtue! Good video! Thanks for posting! 😀👍

You will be amaze at how long you will be able to cook on one of these things with just a little bit of fuel. I cooked for maybe an hour with about 3 ounces of denatured alcohol before it went out on its own. You start it with a lit match or lighter and what burns are the fumes that rise from the top of the fuel.

This burner won’t toast marshmallows. Marshmallows need heat or hot coals to cook them, not flames. Very easy to toast marshmallows on an electric stove. Doesn’t work with gas stoves. At least that’s been my experience.

D C because I was looking for a cooker. Which it looks like it works. I was replying to the lady who wrote about marshmallows. Wasn’t dissing the cooker. Just saying it wasn’t meant for toasting.

It's proven and tested that it can cook or even can boil a meat for it to become tender and it can cook rice too. It has been part of our culture here in the Philippines to invent different ways on how to save and make money. It was invented here since I was a child back in 90's but I'm not really sure when it was exactly invented. It even has a cover with smaller holes made with tin can as well to lower down the heat if you're almost done cooking. So it's not new but I'm just saying that it can definitely cook anything that is edible...

@@MEZafiro Ive made my own now :) I used spiritus instead (which contains 85% ethanol) I pipetted exactly 10 ml in the pack a couple of times and those 10ml burned for 4 - 6 minutes. The pack in the video has a volume of 60 - 70 ml. I chose to make a higher one which could hold ~100ml

Great and fairly simple trick. I have some German Army hexamine* stoves and a few other 'just in case' methods. The flint and steel striker should be in everyone's home; easy to use, with a little practice and these things can save lives. (*Never use hexamine indoors; the fumes are LETHAL)
