One of the best introductions in a movie EVER! I first saw this movie three weeks ago, and all I could think to myself was, "damn, why haven't I seen this earlier?" Great Western; they really need to play it more on TV. In all my life, I have never once seen this movie in TV listings. What the hell is up with that?

It's actually an English made gun, known as a "Bulldog". Can't remember what year it was introduced. While Doc is using a Colt 1873 Single Action Army .45 "Peacemaker" and a Colt 1877 Double Action .41 "Thunderer", in case you cared. lol

Mark Twain once said, "The two most important days of your life are: the day you're born, and the day you find out why." Kilmer's entire acting history was taking him right to that film, all the time. And, it was...indeed, the day he found out why! Forever, making any other "Tombstone" would be utterly pointless, thanks to Val Kilmer's acting genious!

@inthenuddy "You're not wearing a bustle. How lewd." A bustle was a woman's undergarment commonly worn at the time that prevented the skirt from dragging and also from showing off the woman's figure. Presumably Big Nose Kate isn't wearing anything underneath the skirt besides underwear, hence Doc's comment.

wasn't quite as sauve as in this movie, and yes he was a cold blooded killer(as in this movie) but he was atypical of the characteristics of men of his kind of the time. he was a doctor, adept pianist and was known for his dry caustic wit. yes, like all movies, they painted him in a more attractive light, but kilmer portrays the key elements holliday's personality accurately..despite the fact they took the edge off a little.
