I still have my Gallagher G71 Special SN# 1043 which I bought directly from J.W. Gallagher around 1975 for $475 with case. First I wrote him a letter, which he replied to with a personal typed and signed response giving prices and models. Then I ordered the guitar and received it a few months later. It's a wonderful, fantastic, beautiful guitar that has never ceased to give me great pleasure every time I play it.

Got my Doc Watsom custom in 2007 personally constructed by Mr Don Gallagher and he graciously added my personalised embellishments that makes this guitar a one-off. I requested the guitar had a cutaway body and a sunburst finish as well as my stage name engraved on the pickguard and out of the total number of guitars built at the original New Wartrace shop mine is the only guitar with this feature. A beautiful instrument with an out of this world tone. Marty Rivers ( Australia).

Hey JP---- your tribute to Doc Watson and Gallagher Guitars is exceptional. In 1973 I saw Doc and his son Merle live in performance at McCabe's Guitar Store in Santa Monica, California. I sat in the front row about six feet away. Doc and Merle were fantastic. I'll never forget it. I'm sure he would approve of your great video.

Oh My God, Jack, I'm sure you don't remember me. There was an upstate NY college gig you and Doc did, in like '88, or 89'. I was walking down the hall and I saw Doc through a door window. Being a guitarist, I couldn't help but go in an introduce myself. He shook my hand and we talked for a short time. Oh, my god, to meet someone like this! Later, after the show, I talked with you a little bit. I asked you how are you doing as a musician playing this kind of music which we both loved. You replied, "Well my house is paid off." Righteous...I was so happy to hear that a trad guy could make a living! Eric PS you were a little slimmer then. 😀 I got the same problem.

Well, I bought a DW off Don Gallagher in 1997 over at Wartrace and then I played it on the open mic. Then Scott Rouse said 'Do you want to meet Doc?' I almost fainted but did meet him. Wow!!! Took the guitar back home to UK, still have it. Lovely people, really great.

Holy crap was this good !!! 👏👏👏👏 I like bluegrass but I’ve been mostly a punk rocker my whole life. so I don’t know whose who, I don’t know chords or guitars, but what I do know is it sounds amazing, and puts an instant smile on my face. 🥰if you put the top bluegrass people in a line up, I wouldn’t know anyone. But thanks to covid I had ALOT of time to watch you tube. It’s given me the opportunity to sit and listen, and welI one doc video and it was “see ya later I’m jumping in this rabbit hole for awhile”😂😂 I don’t know you guys but I can’t wait to dig in and learn about you all. What an amazing tribute!! He’s upstairs playing right along with you all and Merle’s sitting right next to him. I don’t have enough words to say how blown away I am. 💕💕💕 edit: my dads in hospice right now, and seeing you guys play with such joy and laughter reminds me that along with sorrow can come joy when we remember those that are gone from this world. 💕💕

I was looking for my first nice guitar and visited Gallagher Guitars in 1974 and Don took me and my friend on a tour of the shop. My budget was about a months salary for a teacher/coach and the guitar I wanted was about $200 more than my budget. I bought a very nice guitar (not a Gallagher) which I still have today. I have had a couple of very nice guitars but have always wanted that Gallagher. Beautiful guitars!
