The attacker with knife can cut if he flexes his wrist down still a great system if you fully committed to training. Filipino combat techniques are so functional.

Empty hand against knife is the silliest thing I ever saw - nobody does overhand like that - stretch WAAAAAAY out so you can block - x block don't work - this looks like old karate moves.

This is advanced self defense. Most people are woefully out of their depth for understanding this due to the "have it your way" happy meal dollar menu mentality.

Guys, with all respect, these empty hand against knife techniques couldn’t be more fake! They would never work against a real life knife attack. Nobody is going to stab you and freeze and leave they’re arm there extended for you to grab it and do those wrist lock disarms. They’re going to pull back fast and are going to slash your hand when you try to grab it.

Having sparred with protection a lot with these principles, I can help your beginners perspective on that. Often, I go for the common wrestling two on one catches. But the heart of this here is the slap block. In sparring with empty hands, you try to slap the arm with the knife. You slap diagonally down. You touch, you don't deflect. The slap-contact feels to the Knifer as something to overcome. He will retract less. Your slap, tells your grip hand faster then your eye, WHERE to grap. So first, you try to slap a lot. Your grip hand being your second line of defense. Once you can adust your slap while controlling distance and angle in full sparring mode, you can bring the grip hand into play. One last thing : This is NOT against prison rushes. It's against a mobile knifer, who wants to stay on the move. In real situations, you don't want to grapple as a knifer either. In the phillipines, his buddy has a knife too ... hence this approach. And the knife-arm freezes for training. Watch the defenders knife to knife cutting lines at the end of the video. They would cover common MOVING knifearm lines too.

Todos estos actos y demostraciones se hacen, como si el atacante fuera a dejar las manos quietas, pero la realidad es otra y estás demostraciones en defensa personal contra un ataque con armas blancas son fantasioso y engañoso.

First technique ... is he really attacking in Hawak-Pakal? You can easy bend your wrist and cut the defending man's outer forearm. Is this a joke? I can not watch this further ...

0:38 slap block in grip one - 2:18 main disarm on g.o. - 6:12 slap freezes to block on strong low line attack into grip two ( NO downward circle at all, the knife stills needs to "feel" it can push a little upward and through ...)
