Hello! Thank you for your kind words. You can certainly try out the process on your VM by creating two users: user1 as manager and user2 as worker node. This setup is simpler and should work for basic testing and learning. However, for a more realistic and isolated environment, you can install a nested VM and use it as a worker node. Both approaches are valid, so choose the one that best suits your needs. Stay connected and keep learning!

Can the manager node also process work like the worker nodes or is it strictly just to manage the worker nodes?

It can run its own services as well.

He actually showed this during the video. The hello world container started on the manager and in the second attempt he made it global so both the manager and worker were running the container.

I am newbie in containers. We run virtual machines on Hyper-V right now. If I create a container having my apps, then how do I publish it to be available in intranet workstations? Now workstations can run virtual machines thru remote connection without any installed software, how is it with containers?

You can use Docker hub to store all your in-built containers. or you can use a virtual private server to build your Docker container in the cloud (which can be done using compose). Hope that helps!

Hi Sir, is the manager and worker node running from different hosts or the same host?
@RahulDanwade

on different nodes/hosts (physical or virtual or on cloud infra). Think of the manager as a special node with the special privileges. Also if required we can promote any worker node to a manager node.

I'm new to clustering, and have spent only about 2 hours learning about it, so I'm not sure if I'm correctly understanding what a docker is, so to confirm... I was informed that if I wanted to set up a cluster in a way that allowed me to give my computer more cores, so that it could handle running slightly heavier programs, I should look into dock clusters (for parallel computing). However, every cluster I've looked into doesn't seems to be made for what I'm looking for (What I'm looking for is something similar to the Turing pi, something that can help improve my computer with monolithic applications, ex. KZitem). So, am I in the right place for what I'm looking for, or should I be somewhere else?

Which GUI for docker swarm is that?

At 10:25? That was VirtualBox (Oracle) for running virtual machines - essentially unrelated to Docker.

There were no guis for Docker swarm in this tutorial. The only software he used was Virtualbox with ubuntu vms. Everything else was done from the command line in the vms
