Wanna know something really creepy? This actually happened. The grand final confrontation between Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom was a scientific debate that ended with Reed finally realizing that Doom is not, and in fact never was, actually evil. He's just TOO smart to realize why other people can't see how good his plans are. When he confronted Doom with this, Doom realized that the one thing he truly lacked wasn't power or intelligence, but imagination. And he willingly gave up. He's kind of mellowed out a bit nowadays.

In addition to when Doctor Doom saves Sue Storm, there was also an issue of X-Men where Kitty Pryde's phasing power had been corrupted and was killing her. The X-Men attempt to ask Reed Richards for help, but Reed claims he cannot do it due to a recent lack of confidence. At which point Doctor Doom bursts through the door basically going "DID SOMEONE SAY REED CANT DO A THING". Doom builds a machine to cure her which actually has a few flaws and the two end up teaming up to save her, Doom asking for a favor from the X-Men in return. He later called the favor to enter the demon realm of Limbo (Kitty Pryde could open the way using Magik's sword) and do a bunch of crazy Doctor Doom magic stuff.

Fun story In regards to Dr. Doom's pettiness and awesomeness: You know the kids of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman? Franklin and Valeria? When Sue was pregnant with her daughter, it was a comic book levels of risky pregnancy. Richards tried everything he could, but the only way he could do this would either kill at least one of them or be morally dubious at best. When all hope was lost, Doom showed up, saved them both because he has no quarrels with dubious means, baptized Valeria after an ex-girlfriend of his and self appointed himself as her godfather. Why did he do all this? Just as a power move to surpass Richards as a hero, husband and father. Note: And he Is genuinely fond of Valeria.

In a 2021 comic, Doom was willing to establish a good relationship with the Fantastic Four. He was going to get married to his second in command, Victorious, who was incredibly loyal to him. Doom invited the F4, Namor, Black Panther, and even asked Reed to be his first man. Everything was dandy, until Johnny Storm, who was "engaged" to an alien girl (she made the engagement and Johnny was too stupid/coward to deny it), got laid with Victorious and thought she had fallen for him. The night before the wedding, Johnny in his infinite selfishness, tried to contact Victorious to run away with him, just because he thought she actually loved him, with no proof of it. She denies him, and tells him to please stop bothering her. In the day of the wedding, when the preacher says "you promise to be true to each other", Victorious crumbles and tells Doom that, while she loved him with all her heart, she must confess that she had a one night stand with the human torch. Doom is enraged by this and even Reed cannot believe how Johnny is so astoundingly imbecile, and Doom almost kills everyone. However, he decides to not kill anyone, and stops the wedding. But Johnny was not forgiven of course. He shoots him with a cosmic ray, that makes Johnny's powers go at maximum at all times. And with that, everyone leaves. While in the ship trying to think how to cure Johnny, Sue tells Reed that all this wedding was just a trap, but Reed knows the truth. The world was about to be safe from Doom menace , but Johnny ruined everything just by being an ass.

To be fair, Doom really did turn Latveria around and made it a wonderful place to live. And it's been consistently portrayed that Doom taking over the world not only would create a utopia, it would also be the only timeline where humanity actually survives the future.
@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868

Well you're correct that his ruling is the only way for humanity to survive, but that's because he just wants to massacre/enslave all the mutants. Technically, one of the quiet council members has made it so he literally cannot lose.

@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 So, what's the problem then? I'd much rather choose humanity over mutantkind. Humans create civilization, wonders of the world, tame the nature, all with just technology. Mutants have literal superpowers, and just use them on fighting one another and having high school drama. Not like you even need mutants to defend the Earth, since there's plenty of human superheroes that get the job done.

@@DifferentRussian Wait sorry I just saw this but this is absolutely hilarious you're literally using the same talking points as like every X-Men villain ever. And half aren't even true. If you wanna know why all your points are wrong in universe, read the entire comment. But the TLDR explains pretty briefly why advocating for killing an entire species might not be the best thing First let's address the claim that mutants just use their powers to fight each other and have high school drama. This has been completely debunked by the entire Krakoan age, but more specifically, a single, mid length comic book that released a month ago, titled "Immortal X-Men #10." Xavier specifically calls out people who seem to think that the X-Men fighting other mutants is the system working in an unintended fashion. He explains that the X-Men are pretty much exclusively there because there occasionally are mutant threats that, if left unchecked, would destroy the world. However, despite this fact, you seem to be disregarding the 16 million mutants that previously lived happily in a country of their own with pretty much no civil unrest, and the 200 thousand that currently live on a country of their own after the other 15.5 million were massacred by mutants. Mutants create civilizations. Mutants create technology more advanced than all but the smartest humans could even compare to. Mutants created the technology to bring anyone back from the dead, and have started a functioning society based around that. Mutants tamed the one force of nature humans thought immutable. Mutants are the future. For the claim that human superheroes are enough to get the job done: We've seen that pretty much any threat that the X-Men lose to ends up defeating the entire combined mass of all the earth's enhanced. The Sentinels in DOFP start with the mutants and eventually kill everyone. The only reason the children of the vault haven't killed every human and mutant ever with not a single enhanced individual that could even come close to comparing with them is because the mutants managed to trick them and keep them contained. The Phalanx consumed humanity and all of their knowledge, thousands of years in the future. This fate was only prevented by a mutant being sent back to stop it, because there was nobody left. The Phalanx still retained the knowledge of humanity because they literally store data in a black hole, they are such powerful beings that they create entire species simply to gather more data for them, and then kill those species' off without a second thought. And yet mutants, in a future where they're allowed to live on, defeat them. Save the universe from AI that only wants knowledge, by consuming everything there ever was. Human level threats may destroy countries and conquer planets. But it's only once you get to Mutant level threats that you see all of humanity eradicated. Entire universes devoured, strip mined for information. And only the X-Men, only the mutants stand in the way TL;DR: None of what I said above really matters when the key point is that you just said "Who cares" to literal genocide of an entire species of sentient beings. I spent so long writing this because your comment hits a bit too close to home considering what mutants have always been an allegory for. Dogwhistles about how only the in group can create, can do good, and how the out group is just petty, destructive, pointless, while spewing false information, either ignorantly or intentionally.

There's a What If? comic where Doom listens to Reed when he says the calculations have a couple of errors, and they work together to build the machine Doom was planning to use to find and release his mother's soul from Mephisto's realm. He's able to safely find her and return, but isn't able to free her. He remains friends with Reed but still travels the world to master various forms of magic (in this case to become capable of facing down Mephisto and getting out with his mother's soul instead of building power to go after Reed with). Eventually he returns to Latveria wearing a golden set of high-tech and enchanted armor and liberates his country. He sets up free elections (which he fairly wins, because he's deposed a corrupt government, built infrastructure, and turned Latveria into the Silicon Valley of Europe). Eventually he prepares a meticulous ritual and set of enchantments, ventures into Hell and frees his mother's soul. However, on the day of his wedding to his beloved Valeria, Mephisto is able to bind Valeria's soul. Mephisto offers a compromise: he will free Valeria's soul, if Doom will replace it with his own. Doom decides that the benefit he can bring to the world is more important than his beloved's freedom from damnation, and is thus cursed to live the rest of his life knowing he *could* have saved the love of his life, and *chose* not to do so. Like the main universe Doom, every year on the same day, he fights Mephisto for the soul of someone he loves, and every year, he fails.

Funny thing that I heard a while back. Apparently, Doom was travelling to different universes and there is a universe where Victor and Reed got along and were actually friends and their lives were a whole lot better. But Doom was so offended by the idea of him and Reed getting along that Doom actually decided to wreak havoc across that entire universe and destroy it. Because he just hated Reed that much

There was a graphic novel called 'Emperor Doom' where Doom actually did conquer the world, using the Purple Man's mind control power. Wonder Man and later Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron My, Wasp and Sub-Mariner stopped his plan, but the interesting thing was Doom had LET them do it. By that time, he had found that using the Purple Man's power to mind control everyone into submission had become a hollow victory and basically was ruling a bunch of puppets. He decided to conquer the world using his own efforts instead of using trickery. I don't think he used any mind control schemes after that.

This is absolutely hilarious, but what makes that funny is this is basically 100% canon. What could have made this better is the fact that Doom could have also brought up that his dad scarified himself to prevent him from dying in the freezing cold by keeping him warm through night while his dad froze. I would also like to mention that that the reason that happened was that they were on the run from a baron who wanted to kill them.

This is the plot to "Infamous Iron Man" and it's awesome. It's basically about Victor realizing he's a shitarse and trying to make amends. Iron Man is dead so Victor picks up the mantle, modifying the suit slightly to look more like his own. He is then constantly harassed by literally everyone, as heroes don't trust such a longstanding villain, and villains don't trust him for trying to go straight.

@MusicoftheDamned
Жыл бұрын
@@navilluscire2567 IIRC the same machine was also supposed to be the start of a way to rescue his mother's soul from Hell as well, but it was still in the early stages before either a miscalculation and/or sabotage by a devil (maybe Mephisto himself) caused it to literally blow up in Victor's face as Reed tried to warn him. And thus began Doom's (true) descent into villainy. Doom eventually focuses on the same thing when he starts really learning magic, getting into some magical contract with a devil (again, maybe Mephisto himself) that allows him to once a year astrally fight for his mother's soul to free her from Hell at some cost that I currently forget. It's implied that Doom *did* eventually achieve his goal with magic where science had failed him, but that the same magic and the conditions of it make it impossible for him to remember his victory, making the whole thing rather bittersweet when he can't be entirely sure that he saved her at all.

It's funny because the narrative that I've always had from the comics is that Doom is literally the one person that can save the world, the universe, and multiverse. Doom is like, really top notch, like he could be right their besides the brick SH-house golden age hulk, thor and of course Non PIS Dr Strange. So yeah, Doom as Sorcerer Supreme is GREAT! I love how he has all his spells pre-recorded so he can just call them up and knock em out instantly and he doesn't even need hand gestures, he's that awesome.

Honestly Doom really was destined to become a villain. It really amazes me how both Reed and Doom have never really reconciled thier rivalry, as both thier differences really could be resolved easily if either knew what to say. Well, the prophecy came true in the end. His mother was cursed by her interaction with demons and Victor was cursed as well when he was in her womb. His mom's soul was sent to hell forever, and Doom was "doomed" to be a sad bastard and spend his entire life at war with the world and with himself. A truly tragic and depressing character, and that makes him so amazing.

@@LA-ev8hg Absolutely, Doctor Doom is one of my top 5 favourite comic book villains: 1) Reverse-Flash 2) Doctor Doom 3) Bane 4) Lex Luthor 5) Joker Funny enough, I just now noticed how similar the premise of Doom's origin is to Bane's origin of also being a bastard child, with a tumultuous life even before birth as his father's revolutionary crimes cursed both his wife and Bane while still in her womb and his mother is imprisoned and also had to give birth to Bane in prison. Of course they are very different people, but I find it funny how they both are bastard son's that have cursed mother's with a horrifying and traumatic life, both holding an unfathomable hatred to their arch enemies. The only difference is that Doom was at least able to save his mother.
