Alex Spiddleston I mean, yeah this isn’t even the defining moment of whouffaldi - this is just the deaths of every Doctor’s first face. But what is that moment? The one that is distinctive to these two (heartbreakingly shippable fuckers) is the moment in the cloisters in Hell Bent (or is it? For a lot of their relationship, Clara teaches the Doctor how to be a morally good Doctor, and the Doctor teaches Clara the tactics and mindset to win (win!!!!) like the Doctor. So that moment isn’t really representative of their whole deal, except that maybe... the Doctor would do anything to save his moral compass, his best friend, his love. All in all I don’t think there’s one single moment, it all just happens slowly and in stages. On a tangent, what else is Clara to the Doctor? His saviour, probably, judging by what others have said about series 7 (Clara jumped into his time stream? W h o a). His teacher, therapist, and carer.

You are a genius - I never realised I missed so much with the original! Today I heard words that my ears skipped over before due to sound effects and music, and I heard tonal inflection I'd never caught before. I even heard the little sighs and heavy breathing as the Doctor starts to panic, and they really made me emotional. The first time I watched the original, I felt sadness, yes, but I didn't cry, and the whole thing just didn't seem real to me. This, however, was so real, because of the music being cut out, and I actually cried with this version. Well done!

The hybrid is Clara and the Doctor. Ashildr and the Doctor both think so (Ashildr: 'the combination of a passionate and powerful Time Lord and a young woman so similar to himself', the Doctor: 'I went too far, I became the hybrid'), and it obviously fits the prophecy best. Humans and Time Lords are the two races. The Doctor 'destroy[ed] a billion, billion hearts' by killing himself over and over in Heaven Sent (while Clara did so by dying repeatedly in her echoes when she jumped into the timestream), 'to heal its own' ie: for the chance to get Clara back by manipulating the Time Lords (Clara did it to save the Doctor), and the two of them 'stood in the ruins of Gallifrey' by going forward to the end of time when that fragment of the cloisters was the only thing left. It's not actually very ambiguous.
