I've always liked this scene for some reason, maybe it's the fact that we've never seen a Dalek (in the new series at least) actually converse with a human normally, and yet it still feels tense.

And Dalek Caan seemed to praise the human race here too, which shows how much they've fallen and look at themselves when they realise "we must be doing something wrong as there's only 4 of us, lets be inspired by humans". It's scary.

Ironic how Caan was the most resistant to the idea of Dalek evolution in this episode, yet he also possessed enough independent thought to ruminate on how humanity endures and survives throughout history whilst his own species constantly falters.

This is a nice, if subtle demonstration that the Cult of Skaro have the potential to think like the enemy. It might just be to manipulate Diagoras, but Caan's musing that Skaro is gone yet humanity survives feels like genuine sorrow. It almost foreshadows Caan's eventual redemption, since even before having his mind opened by time he has unconventional thoughts for his kind

Dalek Jast had a larger role in Doomsday with more lines, yet he speaks the least in DiM and EotD. The only thing he really does on his own here is inject the cromatin solution into Dalek Sec, every other thing he does is assist Caan and Thay in attacking Hooverville and confronting the Doctor respectively.

Bear in mind that Daleks, even the Cult, are naturally programmed to obey orders, to follow the chain of command. It took a radical situation for the Cult to finally usurp Sec: I think the last moment before the fusion began, Thay recognised its last chance to speak out, and felt it could no longer stay silent.

This is one of my favourite subtle Dalek moments. We hear Caan's disbelief and jealousy at what humans are capable of despite their weakness and "inferiority", and also a sence of loss and even a tint bit of grief when he talks about Scaro being destroyed. It's quite powerful really and there are so many moments like this that I feel go under the radar at times.

He never said the time war, he said destroyed “in a Great War”. Therefore it’s still vague enough that it can be interpreted as being destroyed by the civil war. Also, is this civil war from a classic storyline, and if so which Doctor?
