Peter, Stephen, the anti-war speech the doctor made in "The Zygon Inversion" will forever stay with me. The astounding logic of the "Listen" opening monologue will forever stay with me. The idea that a person can seem cold and ruthless on the outside when really they're just kind on the inside will forever stay with me. Appreciated.

Only Capoldi could say nice things about people in front of a crowd for 4 minutes and only realise at the end that he just made a big speech. That's what I love about this show: the personality of each doctor really shows the personalities of the actors themselves. It's the sort of real expression that I think other shows need. The Doctor, whoever he (or she) is played by, will always be a real person, and that's what make him a great character.

Nothing but class. Capaldi, take a bow. God bless everyone involved with this amazing show. Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas, Steven Moffat, and Mark Gatiss, aside from being absolutely fantastic writers and actors, have been a true blessing to Doctor Who.

Having been someone who was long skeptical about the idea (from when I first encountered it more than thirty years ago), I can to some degree understand your sentiment... but I disagree with it. They've set examples now with more than one, and each worked just fine. Jodie Whittaker certainly has the chops to do the role proud, so I actually look forward to seeing what she does with it.As for Capaldi... when he came into the role, I had to look him up to be aware of who he was, at which point I felt they'd probably chosen wisely. He quickly became, if not my very favorite, damn close (neck and neck, really)... and I, too, don't want to see him go. But I am very grateful indeed for the time we've had with him as the Doctor. Despite some wonky aspects to the stories now and again (though upon rewatching them, I feel they are less so than they seemed initially), he made a truly memorable Doctor Who, and is going to be one hell of a tough act to follow.... Best wishes to him, and a heartfelt "Thank You!"

alberto cabrera First of all, it's not that I hate the idea of a female doctor, I just didn't like the fact that they chose a woman from the beginning just to satisfy other people's needs, they didn't even bother to audition other male actors who were just as good or better. I only dislike the fact that they only did this to seem politically correct. Also, what has my name name got to do with this, are you being racist towards me because that that is just uncalled for and hypocritical

he was given some of the best episodes in doctor who history, the likes of Listen, Hell Bent and World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls are instant classics. Sure there have been some lulls in there too, Kill the Moon was just... yuck, but overall Peter has had some excellent writing on his side. There have been more highs than lows in my opinion, in fact there have been many more highs than lows
@jeeedel2491
7 жыл бұрын
His character was written terribly throughout his tenure, it was a confused mess that put Peter's wonderful acting ability and persona to complete waste. He was given amateurish stuff to work with and his doctor felt unsympathetic or abruptly changing each series as a result. The episodes as self-contained stories were hit or miss, but overall Peter was wasted and the tone of the show has became so self-obsessed and contrived since Matt Smith's second season.
@TempusVulpi
7 жыл бұрын
HyalineJustice You're wrong. That's not even an opinion, it's fact, take a look at their ratings for example. His writing was terrible.
@CommodoreMudkip
7 жыл бұрын
all shows die over time, there isnt a single show on television that has lasted 12 years and has maintained/gained viewers.
@ScoundrelDaysSon
7 жыл бұрын
TempusVulpi Ratings as an indicator of quality! Ok! I'm a Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent are the best shows ever! Whether the writng wad good or bad is an opinion, a subjective one. And you could point to the ratings slide starting under Matt Smith. The reality you might want to look at is that the 12 Doctor's era came at a pint when most shows are cancelled and maintained an incredibly healthy audience at a time of increased audience fragmentation (particularly amongst children). That's an achievement by any standards! It's still never dropped out of the top 30 and has remained the most watched BBC One show on Saturdays.

The idea of a time lord being both male and female came from steven lol who cares about 50 years of continuity it means nothing - "grow up people"
@NeaEmrys
7 жыл бұрын
+Jason Martin actually the idea of the doctor regenerating into a female came originally from the creator of the show - he'd wanted to do it from the beginning, but the world wasn't ready back then.
@dimoned123
7 жыл бұрын
Nea Emrys The funny thing is many people have been trying to explain that, but for whatever reason people like this commentor seem to ignore that fact.
@Jasonwho1974
7 жыл бұрын
Yes true about the creator wanting this. However it can't be ignored that it was established as cannon in the classic series that time lords and time ladies were two separate things with Romana and the Rani. But I suppose it's up to who ever is in charge now what's cannon & that certain cannonical facts can be ignored from the classic series.
@florenceflowers4709
7 жыл бұрын
You literally just made that up. It was never once said in the Classic Series that Time Lords *COULDN'T* change gender.
@ScoundrelDaysSon
7 жыл бұрын
Jason Martin Mate, if you want to talk continuity have a word with Deadly Assassin that rewrote the Time Lords completely. And using Romania as an example?! Destiny of the Daleks has her regenerate multiple times to choose a body, one of which is clearly an alien! the beauty of this show it can assimilate such discrepancies. That said nowhere in classic Who does it suggest anything other than that, at most, each Time Lord has a default gender (or what we'd recognise as such). Now the default gender will change for a few seasons. No biggie.
@Phantom-hy2ix
7 жыл бұрын
Sorry Peter, but the idea of changing gender didn't come from Missy, or even the Corsair, it all started with Matt Smith in 11th Hour. After the regeneration scene, he thought he was a girl till he touched his throat,
