At 00:29 - 00:48 I'm already grinning non stop and saying "awwwe". I appreciate you two talking and being your genuine selves so much. It's good for the soul! Just like the Doctor. :)

It seems like they tried to make an episode of Inside No 9 in the Doctor Who universe with having Reece Shearsmith involved. Doesn't really work as a Doctor Who episode, but would have been an interesting concept for Inside No 9.

Unpopular opinion but I love this episode excited to see deepas reaction but going off the comments she's not impressed 😂 Edit: Yup definitely not impressed the both of you 😂 its definitely a marmite episode! In response to what deepa said at 12:38 I love this ep cause i love the fourth wall break and it genuinely is scary to me! Especially with the ending "you've got something in your eye" it gives me the same vibe as blink where its like they're talking to the viewers specifically, with the angels "dont even blink and you're dead". Also in the family of blood two parter about the little girl trapped in the mirror for all time and if you ever think you see something behind you its her. All very creepy things i think! Im quite good w horror things like the conjuring and insidious arent scary to me however this ep just set me on edge, i tend to be more frightened of things that could technically happen/are based on real things like the sleep gunk 🤢 The concept of the found footage is an interesting thing that they tried out. I appreciated it, maybe couldve been executed a bit better and the plot twist with no one having had cameras in the first place was a goodun for me. In regards to the monsters, I think they are quite goofy and not actually what i find scary about the episode (the pod floating through the hallways really gave me the creeps), however i think goofy monsters are what Who is all about 😂 enjoyed the reaction nonetheless and am buzzing/slightly scared for next week ep 😢

It's one of my favourite episodes, too - but I understand that most people just don't get it. I love unreliable-narrator stories, so this one is perfect for me.

The only reason I tolerate this episode is because it's basically an episode of Inside No9 set in the Doctor Who universe. But I like Inside No9, which is one of those Marmite shows.

Petition for the full reaction to the Crumble song. I wouldn't call this a marmite story. It's a story most people hate, and a few people don't mind. Not sure there are any 'Sleep No More' Stans out there. I personally like it for the following reasons: - It does found-footage well, and gives an interesting reason for it (bearing in mind, I'm not a big fan of found-footage). - It has some good, natural dialogue between the Doctor and Clara (which isn't always the case). - I felt the side characters were also more believable and different than they sometimes are (e.g. a problem I had with 'Under the Lake'/'Before the Flood' as another base-under-siege was that its characters felt too generically archetypal). - I love the clone-grown soldier idea in particular, and I was really hoping the show would do more with that in future episodes. That, in itself, is an Ood-level premise that could easily have its own episode or two. - The score remains strong this season, this time more minimalist and reminiscent of 80s sci-fi horror. - I also really liked the monster honestly. We had quite a lot of humanised monsters around this point, so I just thought it was really nice to have a classic 'monster movie' episode again, like we had in earlier seasons. ... The ending is a confusing mess and I'd still struggle to tell you what it was all about, so I mark the episode down for that, but I am sympathetic towards the fact that it was cut down from a two-parter.

Not the bloody crumble song, I forgot about that classic. The 60th should have a chase sequence with the crumble song

As a hardcore Capaldi era defender since day one, yeah this wasn't great. A cool concept, but terrible execution, Reece Shearsmith carried this thing and emerged as the sole redeeming feature of the episode. On the plus side, we're in for some really great top-tier Who coming up during the next few weeks, so that's something to look forward to

I love that this is an episode where the bad guys irrefutably win at the end of the day, it's very rare for Doctor Who I just wish it was connected to a stronger story.

I love this episode. The whole story is invented and constructed by the villain. The point is you don't know what actually happened and for once the Doctor doesnt succeed. For me, the worst episode of the season has yet to come.

Absolutely. I've been saying this for years - everyone apparently hates the monsters, and almost no one understands there ARE no monsters.

I think this one feels like it is paced like it's a 2-parter then it just...kinda ends? Like you, I appreciate the attempt at something new but it feels like it drags a lot

I totally agree with your rating for this episode. It was truly awful. I personally had three attempts to watch it fully. I final managed to watch it right through on the 3rd. Never want to see it ever again

I like the concept of the episode but I think the execution left a lot to be desired. I admire Mark Gatiss’s writing but it does feel like it’s missing something, in terms of filming techniques it is interesting but there’s not much else I can say about it.

I don't recall having any particular issues with this episode when it first aired. Sure there's a weird bootstrap paradox plot hole with the final narration, but killing off the narrator was a nice twist that immediately told you something else was up. It's a mediocre episode, but not a bad one per say.

@@darynvoss7883 if you 'got it's and still didn't really click with it, that's fair (honestly, back in the day, that was most of the 5th Doctor's run, for me) - but mosy people who say they didn't like it don't actually understand it - so I had to ask.

Yup - dismal It astonished me how Moffat and Gatiss who together made a show as successful as 'Sherlock' also managed to produce this tosh. Nice concept, but good grief, it's barely watchable. The only fly, imo, in one of Who's best seasons.
