The visuals are fantastic, the music is ambient at best, the storylines are weak, the acting is poor, the scripts are awful and the dynamic between the characters doesn't make sense. Jodie and Yaz sort of work in a bland uninteresting way then Graham and Ryan seem to just be there without any purpose. Especially Graham, I found his character was probably the most interesting and actually gave it some flavour but unfortunately I couldn't help but feel that he was so out of place. He stook out like a sore thumb. However you are right, props to whoever worked on the visuals because the cg and choice of camera angles is stunning and super cinematic.

I would probably like it, but I don’t know because over two full seasons _we’ve spent about a combined four minutes in there._ I hardly know what the damn thing looks like! I think it wasn’t until Resolution that I realized the upper part of the columns had those finger-like things going up and down.

Another visually stunning episode but a quite thin story. Despite that, the ending seemed a bit rushed which is a common thread throughout S11 (even though the episodes are a few minutes longer--supposedly as a trade off for the shorter season). As I commented in the previous episode, I have liked Jodie from the first and, looking on the positives, she seems well settled even in only her second outing. On the downside, this episode can feel like a rather routine mid-season story that does little to advance character or plot. The writers seem to have forgotten that Yaz, who I actually like quite a lot, even exists. Graham, of course, continues to shine.

@GermanLeftist
4 жыл бұрын
I think the opener was okay, this was boring, 11x03 is good on a surface level but one should not try to analyse the substance otherwise you might get mad - as I do whenever I think about it - and after that, well 11x06 and 11x08 were good but that's it. The special worked. And 12x04 was not bad. The opening two-parter was again, like 11x03, good on the surface level but only because it throws so much at you. If you think about it or watch a second time, it really doesn't work as well. And 12x05, which a lot of people like, only works if you like the return of a certain character. And the finale, ahm, the least that is said about that one, the better.
@TheTardisDreamer

The only way I can describe the design is like they're in a terribly lit room and standing on the belly of an upside down glowing spider. I think it's definitely grown on me since 2018 and I definitely like how alien it is but it's not my favourite. My favourite has got to be 11's first TARDIS and the one he and Capaldi had in an extremely close second. One thing I will say about this season is it's beautifully shot (apart from a few under-lit shots that make it quite hard to see things). If my memory serves me right the next one is Rosa, the last few minutes of that one I actually like quite a lot so can't wait for that 😊.

Don't worry about the technical problems, these things happen. I'm just grateful you take the time to make these videos. The main thing is YOU got to see the episode and enjoyed it. My opinion on the new-look TARDIS interior is that, while it's a lot more bare and darker, it's still unique and has it's own appeal. I know you made these videos a while ago, but I'm guessing you've seen the later episodes and therefore seen they do a few different things with the lighting and a few minor changes for Series 12. I also like how they've finally gone back to the "up-and-down" motion of the time rotor. The previous console room did have a small needle-like part in the middle (behind the fluorescent tube lights) which went up and down, but you could only see it in close-ups. It mostly looked very static, apart from the spinning discs on the ceiling. So, Jodie's console looks more active and I also noticed in later episodes the tops of the amber columns around the console go up and down sometimes too.

Also, I have to be honest, I don't mind the new Tardis interior (a bit dark but the console and walls are cool), but the door bothers me. Genuine question: when someone says something has 'pacing issues' do they mean there were a few changes of pace that they didn't like, or are they looking at it from a writing perspective? Personally, I really appreciated the slower moments; not everything has to be high-octane and fast-paced to be interesting. I had the same issue with the last season of Game of Thrones, specifically the dragon fights, which were ridiculously overlong; you might say they dragged on, in fact. Maybe it's just me, but I do find character more interesting than plot when it comes to storytelling. Something which The Ghost Monument does admirably, in my view.

probably had advanced telepathic abilities that allowed them to see more and further back than what the Doctor could see, so basically could see her life pre-hartnell

Re-watching Series 11 reiterated for me how much i actually love series 11....Ghost Monument continued the pacing/tension and stakes of the launch TWWFTE episode and felt grand...yeah Series 11 gets way too much bashing I feel...just a great follow up ...next episode is one of my all time favourites.

You know, I love the new interior, but I hate that it's so dark. It's too beautiful an interior to be lost in such gloomy lighting.

Hate this episode. So many plot points brought up with no payoff. Those space racers are ridiculously pleasant and helpful considering the stakes. The new TARDIS is not a good set. I didn't care for the cinematography either. I don't get the praise for it.

I watch this one for the Tardis then Kerblam. (Rosa is overrated and a bit of an eyeroll but the message and themes good) then I'm done with this series. Good job Chibnall.

What do you find eyeroll-worthy about Rosa?
@space1999

Agreed... rosa is massively over rated for me... any other season of who it would be a filler episode, this dreadful season, it's the citizen kane and godfather parts 1 and 2 rolled into one....

Honestly the exterior of this TARDIS is my least favourite, because they moved one of the handles and it's really annoying
