I saw this in Manchester, when Jon Pertwee was playing the Doctor. It was nonsense. But we all loved it! To be in the same room as the Third Doctor, albeit about 60 feet away, was something never to be forgotten. 1989 - a great year.

I saw it in Manchester too on My 14th Birthday. It was a treat from My late Dad. It was a blast, I loved it as did My Dad. We staged doored afterwards and gt My program signed by Jon(which Im told He didn't always obliged) He was really lovely from what I can remember of the experience. I was on a real high from watching the show then meeting JP. A treasured memory non the less. :-)

Jon Pertwee came here back when only the Tom Baker episodes had been seen by us Yanks for the Dr.Who USA tour. He was amazing! When he autographed a photo for me and I started to walk off he said "Jonathan, be careful that ink is very wet and might streak" I thought that was awesome! He remembered my name he had just signed and cared enough to say be wary of the ink. It would be about 5 years later that I would finally see his episodes.

Wow! Josh - unbelievable. Older Whovian here. I saw this starring Colin Baker at a sadly far from full Edinburgh Playhouse in 1989 with my little Sis. It was such a joy seeing Colin on stage, after he was shafted by Michael Grade. Thanks so much for talking your time & skill for putting this together + thanks to original folk who filmed & recorded the stage play. Cheers!

This is amazing. I've seen the stage production twice. Once when Pertwee was taken ill mid-performance. It's criminal that nobody recorded this on video at the time. It's funny looking back on this now. I keep asking myself: Why didn't The Doctor save us from Margaret Thatcher!

Hey Josh I saw the Jon Pertwee version of this in Birrngham, and I have to say it was very very good, JP stepped back into the role as if he'd never been away, and the production looked great. The disadvantage that this video has is it being shot from the side that you don't get the full spectacle of the 'time tunnel' that the lasers and smoke created at the start of the show- which really were 'proper theatrical magic'. Plus the Daleks were designed with a slightly skewed perspective so viewed from a seated position below the stage looked very imposing and impressive especially the Dalek Emperor prop. Great nostalgic vibes here though- thanks for posting this!

Wow, this is so cool. In the behind the scenes interviews of one of Big Finish’s stage play adaptions (I don’t remember which), the writer talks about how producing audio adaptions of plays is hard because plays are so much about visual spectacle. I feel that that is very applicable here.

Thank you Josh. Big finish did a great adaptation for audio of this story so I feel I know it well. Great to have some visuals. I think the imagination of the designers didn't meet their ability to bring it to the stage. The camera equipment used did not do it justice. It is a pity that such stage productions are not routinely filmed for posterity and that we have to resort to such bootleg means.

One does rather get the impression that Judith Hibbert was having a WHOLE lot of fun belting out "Business is Business" as Madame Delilah. Unfortunately the second attempt at recording Baker was foiled when the camera was spotted and the tape confiscated during the half time interval, otherwise there would be one Pertwee and two Baker's in existence. I believe one other person made a video recording of one of the shows, but that's incomplete.
