I have this pedal. While it sounds great running into a clean amp, it sounds GODLY running into a moderately driven amp! Criminally underrated pedal (the fact that DOD pedals had the weirdest names didn't help much in its cause either).

I bought one of these in the '90s. The only pedal I ever bought, used, or own. Still have it and still use it with my home made Telecaster. My settings on it are the same settings as yours at the start of the video. I change the sound by using the knobs on the tele, plus 4 way switch mod.

I think it's a very overlooked pedal...like the whole DOD range...but this pedal in particular...maybe it's the reference to punk and/or the camouflage paint...?!? I use it quite a bit in the studio...very versatile and great sounding pedal!

This has become one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE pedals. DOD gets shit on by gear snobs but they are missing out. There is one particular setting / sweet spot that I have fallen in love with and one that no other pedal has managed to capture. It’s the sound of a warm fuzz with synth like harmonic overtones. It’s PERFECT for single note solos / melodic passages. It’s a dark but beautiful sound. In a way this pedal was like a pre-cursor to the Zvex Fuzz Factory in so far as the tone knobs are so sensitive. Any slight adjustment of any of the tone knobs delivers a new sound. This pedal has so many sounds in it just like the Zvex Fuzz Factory. I don’t know what these cost new when they were released but this pedal has outlasted vintage pedals costing upwards of $500 and newer boutique pedals costing several hundred dollars or more in my collection. Now my collecting days are over and I’ve sold off the majority of my pedals, but the PUNKIFIER is a keeper. It’s a great sounding pedal and a lot of fun to play. - Rick Sell / PureSalem Guitars

This is one of my favourites and I think there should be more pedals like this. They made some amazing and groundbreaking pedals in my opinion...and they are slowly getting the recognition they deserve - even through the current owners Samsung are not interested in keeping the name going at all...but DOD and DigiTech were way ahead of their time!!

There's so many reasons to love this. The first is that it sounds great. Second, of course, the Coxon validation. But there's something about the octave fuzz. It's so versatile. Hendrix had a very limited fx palette, he did have octave fuzz, it helped him get so much from so little, it's the extra harmonics. The EQD Sunn O Life uses a Green Ringer in V 1+2, a Superfuzz Fuzz in V3 paired with a Rat. I use basic diy drone synths a lot, the square or sine waves seem to pass through dirt pedals, clipped a bit but not harmed too much, if I use a saw wave and an octaver it adds the harmonics that can then have overdrive or distortion and they become epic, this should get a re-release or clone treatment. Actually it has, Holy island Audio has released a pedal with a dod 250 and an octaver in it, with diode switching. Small Welsh brand with big sounding pedals.

My first Guitar pedal! :D I got that and the "Metal maniac" from a bargain bin at my local musicstore. The Maniac broke after a year or so, but I still have the Punkifier. I could never really make it sound the way I wanted it to, The distortion was too trebly, and the fuzz too Bit-crushed. But I always liked the idea of blending distortion and fuzz. And I thing it was a pretty innovative idea.

This is a great pedal for a synth. I use a lot of diy drone synths and square/sine waves pass through dirt pedals fairly unaltered. The octaver in this adds the harmonics that the drive side can then get to work on. I use saw waves then octave, a Metal Zone for the big eq then a boost. Similar to eq sunn o life. Octave rat clean boost. Shred ghe fabric of time and space.
