Engine remanufacturers, owners forums and legal websites have identified the 3.6 problems. The real issue is getting a CDJR dealer to fix the problem under the FCA ( Stellantis) extended warranty. Having owned 3 Chrysler minivans I knew to buy the Max Care Warranty which covered the engine failure last week. (Cylinder Head Replacement)

Wish saw this video before my watranty ran out, have the tick. Not looking forward to cam, lifter and rocker arm swap.

My 2021 Charger GT developed a Tick that's getting worse. It's ridiculous that this has been going on for this long and the Dealerships won't do anything for me.

I'd get an independent inspection. Your 2021 does have the updated rockers which have a much less failure rate but you never know.

Why can't someone get the tools and relieve the timing chain pressure for a little extra clearance when loosening the journals to pop the rockers out?

Two things. First off. DO NOT remove the cam caps without removing the timing chain. There is enough pressure in the chain the you can damage the cam guides and stretch and weaken the cam screws. Next i have been working on a number of vehicle's with the 3.6 and have found the the engines the are recommended to use 5w20 oil have the rocker failure right around 100k. The 3.6 engines that use 5w30 last way longer. My 3.6 charger has 151k and no tick. Just oil for thought

Keep in mind the later 3.6s including the Charger had the updated redesign part number that last much longer. I disagree with your pressure from the chain statement. That pressure is some what released with the tensioner holding tool which causes some slack in the chain.

@@JPWilson-mo5kj okay sorry i didnt explain correctly. When you release torque on the cap screws without the tension released on the chain, it pulls the cam phasers down therefore pulling the back of the cam up and you will damage the cam seats and you will stretch the bolts. Its physics.

what in the hell is wrong with Chrysler, I see this problem with alot of 3.6 pennastar engines, my 2015 jeep wrangler rubicon is in the shop for this same problem I only have 27000 miles, Chrysler UUUUUUU SUCK!

This is an issue that rears its head on most early pentastar engines. Supposedly they updated the rockers around 15-16 model year. They are good engines besides the rocker/lifter issues.

After you read Gary's nonsense and poor comprehension of videos, read this: First off I never claimed in the video that it is a full 3.6L rocker r&r tutorial. 2nd I recommended "online mechanic tips" in the video as he is a chrysler tech with many good videos on this subject while working on the engine in the car as most are doing. 3rd motorcity mechanic or online mechanic tips do not go into checking lifter collapse as I did and this why I made the video. Furthermore motorcity mechanic vids are with engine out which is way easier job to do. Most are doing with the engine in the car sitting inline or transverse. Go ahead and follow Gary's advice so you can reassemble your engine with a possible bad lifter.

@@JPWilson-mo5kj talking about poor compression... I have to ask, are you drunk.? Cuz, ur babbling like a wine'o... 😂 Ur video IS absolute garbage. Anyone who is inexperienced and followed it will for sure be cursing U as their car is being towed off to a real mechanic cuz, they're balls deep in confusion. I know how to get this job done and was scratching my head watching this rubbish. And replacing lifters goes without saying. If one is pulling the motor apart, don't be cheap. Do the job right & buy the tools / parts needed to get-r-done.

JT puts used cams in clients cars. Probably charges for new. Says lifter aren't usually a problem. They are. Have a hard time trusting him. David Pike "motor city mechanic " is a much more reliable source for Pentastar info. JT like harbor shit. Says it all. Real mechanics use real tools....not toys.
