@QuiteAlright
2 ай бұрын
Concerning. I would say that possibly your coolant level is too low and car started overheating? Once a/c is charged up the compressor will heat up the engine more and radiator will have to work harder to cool it down so if coolant level is low that could cause it to overheat. Start by checking your coolant levels.

Thank you for the how-to-guide. This will save us from going back to our old mechanic until I can find a new one. My AC stopped working after a recent trip to the auto repair shop to replace a broken headlight. This is the 2nd time this has happened at the same location. The first time they said my freon was low when I took it back in. I can almost guarantee that the shop will say the same thing this time around too and I have a suspicion that they drained it on purpose to get more money from me. We have been using the same shop for over 10 years and unfortunately the quality of their work has gone way down lately. They did not even hook the light assembly up correctly. It is missing a bolt and the power supply cable to the turning signal wasn't even connected.
@QuiteAlright
Жыл бұрын
You're welcome. They would have to remove the front bumper cover to replace the complete headlight assembly on this minivan, but that has nothing to do with the AC. I've seen shops doing all kinds of weird things, so who knows. You might have a leak somewhere in the AC lines, but definitely try to find a new mechanic that you will trust and who can inspect it

@QuiteAlright
Жыл бұрын
Hmmm hard to say without looking at it. You could have a leak somewhere. Did you watch the gauge on the recharge hose while filling the system? It is possible that you overcharged it, in that case a/c compressor will not engage and some of the refrigerant will have to be evacuated. Try connecting the recharge hose, close the other end of the hose by turning the knob and then start the vehicle and turn the a/c on and see what the gauge says

In my van there is a front and rear AC controls... However, if I only use the front, which I think will be more than enough to cool the front and middle, would two cans be enough?
@QuiteAlright
Жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes there are front and rear AC controls, but the a/c system is one. So you can't separately charge front or rear AC. Vans with rear a/c will take more refrigerant .There should be a sticker on the rad support which says how much refrigerant goes into the system and again it depends if there is some refrigerant already in the system. Keep monitoring the gauge while charging and keep trying to feel the air while charging

Hello, I used 2 cans of red tek 134a for my 2017, my front ac now blowing cold air but the rear still not cold. Do i still need to add more refrigerant?
@QuiteAlright
2 жыл бұрын
Possibly yes. This minivans if equipped with rear climate controls need quite a bit of refrigerant. You have to look at the gauge on the charging hose to make sure you don't overcharge it. Also you can check your owner's manual it should point out the total capacity. Other thing that often happens on this minivans is rear blend door actuator fails and then it won't switch to a/c and it will blow warm air. If front a/c works then you don't have a major leak which is good. So it either needs more refrigerant or blend door actuator replaced.

@@jerbstv4623 I wouldn't be putting more than that so you don't overcharge it. Problem could be in blend door actuator which is not switching from hot to cold air. You could do a diagnostics test on all actuators by connecting a scanner and accessing hvac module. If not you could manually inspect it and see if it is opening / closing the door but it is a bit hard to access (right rear area of the vehicle)

Hmmm. Try connecting the hose and see the PSI in the system. You have to make sure it is fully charged and also not overcharged. If PSI is too low or a 0 that means you have a major leak somewhere in the lines. There is also a possibility that a/c compressor failed or fuse burned out. Try to listen if a/c compressor engages when you turn on the a/c

Could be that your a/c needs to be filled up or it could be a failed rear blend door actuator which is often a problem on this minivans.
