Most companies don't take the time to get the job done right but I have seen this guy's work in person and it is great!

I needed to replace the latch on the lid and this video helped me do that.. thanks! Also for anyone else, here's the part you need if you run into this problem. autopartscheaper.com/products/2013-2018-dodge-ram-2500-3500-front-seat-armrest-door-lid-latch-genuine-new-68202514ac?s=recomatic

Thanks. What material did you use for the padding? Its the grey material at the 1:40 mark.

Thanks for the video. It’s a great help. I have the identical console lid (2005 Dodge Ram 3500) and am wanting to get it recovered BUT, ALSO add a customized recessed area in the top side (for wireless phone charger) and am wondering how difficult it will be to make the “pocket” area with/in the new material. *Adding to the difficulty, I want the “bottom” (and sides?) of the recessed pocket /charging area to be done in a different color, but same material. Sure wish I could sew! It is stated in other sources that removing the plastic bottom piece WITHOUT breaking some or several of the plastic clips off is almost impossible. You seem to have mastered the technique for saving them. Do you have any specific tips for this?

Yeah it's just knowing where and how to apply pressure to the clips so they release without breaking them, but there's always a few that don't make it. If you wedge a flat screwdriver as close to the clips as possible, gently apply pressure, and pull up on the plastic mold with your other hand, that should give you the best results. If you fell like your applying too much force, you probably are, just take it easy.

The correct way to remove the clips is from the top. Cut the material off from the top, then remove foam to reveal the clips. This guy may know how to remove the clips without breaking them, not it's an unnecessary risk when the material is being trashed anyway.
