I really love your pond, I love everything you do! I had watercress growing in my stream (they prefer shallow streams). I made myself a salad one day and planted some watercress from my salad that had little roots. It grew prolifically, flowered, set seed ( I don't know how some seedlings ended up upstream) and did that for the duration of the stream. I planted watercress without roots and it still did well. I tried growing it in deeper parts of the pond without much success. It likes moving water and something for its roots to hold onto. Maybe the best place to plant it is where your bog empties into your pond. Hope you get some soon.

Lol Kidding aside you are 100% correct Climate alarmism is little more than an attempt at grabbing power (authority) by creating an artificial scarcity There is plenty of food water and energy for every human on earth until bureaucrats and central planners begin interfering in the lives of the populace Furthermore humans are so innovative that an increase in population is as much an improvement as it is a problem People are awesome!

"Alright you guys" the question in most viewers minds is not how much does it cost to build a pond but how much did it cost to have yours built, it will help also to know what other costs are involved besides the electricity to run the pump, for starters: A) How much did your property taxes go up? B) how much did homeowners insurance go up? C) isn't a fence required to keep small children from falling in as properties with a pool are? Here at my house we really enjoy watching the videos and thank you guys for sharing with us.

The biggest thing necessary to keep your pond clean is water circulation. Circulation helps everything, it helps. Your plants helps the beneficial bacteria, etc. It stirs up all the waste and biomatter that settles in the pond so that it can be broken down by the plants and by the bacteria or consumed by fish and other animals. Circulation is the thing that keeps the pond clean. You can add air stones to cheaply do this anywhere you think the pond is being stagnant. Air pumps are very low wattage for their output. And you can run a pretty long hose so you can keep the air pump in the house and run the tiny little hose out to the pond.

There are several windbreak type trees that don't take up a lot of foot space that are good at being a sound block as well as a sight and wind screen also... i'd love a small pond similar to ya'lls to naturalize.. it is so beautiful.. and soothing..

If you turn the water if in the shower/sink when you sent using it, it will save some on the bills. For example, washing dishes, turn the water off while you scrub, same with the shower. Also if you keep lights of when you sent using them or are in the room, it will help cut the costs. Keeping windows covered during the day and in summer will keep some heat out, reducing the need for AC.

Pretty good work. 2 points. You only THINK that cost is similar. A. Using 12v pumps (RV Type) You can eliminate electrical cost by running them off batteries charged by small solar panels. Same as recirculating pumps. B. You can DIY an aeration addition to the pond by repurposing an excessive bike or exercise rowing equipment and your 30 minute work out will assist in aerating your pond and save you $$ at the gym. Beautiful looking design! All the best ! W

Besides fish there were gars, frogs and turtles but you didn't see any while you were in the water. I agree with DaNelle about the frogs. I have a man-made fish pond in my backyard. it's not right outside of my window and frogs still disturb my sleep sometimes. mine is a lot smaller than yours so I can't imagine the amount of frogs that would come in your pond. but I also live in Louisiana, so. if the pond stays algae filled I would recommend sucker-fish. they with eat the algae, but then again you'll be swimming and may step on them. they're fast, but you never know. they also can't survive in colder water. you'd have to catch them in the winter.

She would keep her 4 or 5 big goldfish in it all winter by placing an infrared lamp inside a cone that was floating on the pond. It was the only spot that was not frozen on top and it made the pond not be frozen deep. Really cool thing.

I think it’s GREAT your experimenting with natural swimming pools/pond! I would think you avoid touching, or stirring up the bottom because once you do all that green algae will turn the water green taking many days possibly weeks to settle back to clear again IF you can ever recover without draining, or using chemicals. I have a 60 year old, 20x40, concrete swimming pool I hope to turn into a natural swimming pool/pond this year. I’m going to use my many years experimenting with hydroponics, aquaponics, and hydroponic to hopefully achieve what chlorinated pools can. As you know for the most part this is all very new “natural swimming pools”, so again I admire your devotion to this most important pool venture. I feel you’ve got some major problems as far as algae goes with this particular pool design so I’m wondering if you have the ability to vacuum the bottom in order to eliminate algae organically?
