His channel is a gem in a sea of Wikipedian history channels on KZitem. I love the channel because I don't care enough about Native Americans to actually read books on them, but I care enough to want to learn about them.

I don't know if you have heard of this guy before but could you see what you think of DJ peach cobbler, He has a fairly crazy method it seems and i am wondering what you think if he is more of a pop historian or a more academically sourced.

Ancient Americas and Fall of Civilizations are the diamonds of historical youtube videos when it comes to their research ethics!

I will say Fall of Civilizations makes a strong effort to be accurate, but doesn't always succeed. www.reddit.com/r/AskHistory/comments/y8g20y/is_the_fall_of_civilization_podcast_historically/

Took me a bit to realize you were talking about a youtube channel and not a grammatically questionable inquiry as to whether or not pre-Columbian Native Americans were good historians.

If you'd have said he wasn't a good researcher, I would have been confused, since he gives so many sources in his videos! I cannot recommend Ancient Americas enough as a starting point for looking into pre-Columbian cultures.

Can I just say a note on grammar, quotation marks should be used when italics can't. In this case, "Ancient Americas" should be italicized but since you can't do that, quote marks work better. This helps with readability. 'Does "Ancient Ameircas" do good research?' reads much better.
@veritasetcaritas

Thanks for the suggestion but proper names aren't placed in quotation marks in English unless they're being quoted or it's being implied that they are inauthentic. It wouldn't be grammatical to place a proper name in italics or quotation marks here. For example, no one would write "This is my friend "Harold"", or "I shop at "Aldi"".

Thanks so much for doing this. I became aware of YT history due to AA and that led me to your channel when trying to figure out why I was dissatisfied with some others I then followed. It's of course reassuring to see that you also are impressed with AA's level of dedication and transparency. My question is, given your preoccupation with quality YT history content, do you have a list of KZitemrs who meet a similar standard? Of course AA is a wonderful storyteller and presenter as well as maintaining that loyalty to evidence. But that loyalty is the sine qua non.

Thank you! I am gradually making a list of history KZitemrs I would recommend, and my current series of "Does X do good research?" videos is leading up to a video examining history KZitem in more detail and describing the KZitemrs I regard as following best practice.

@@veritasetcaritasThis video and the previous one with Drachinifel do have clickbaity titles - they produce momentary panic attacks for viewers who know they're high-quality, and then have to question their own sanity. For a non-clickbaity title, I would recommend changing the title of those two and future similar videos, to be 'Ancient Americas does excellent research', or 'Ancient Americas' thorough research process', etc. Your negative reviews never have neutral titles, they argue for a thesis of low quality, and they're titled as such. There's no reason to apply a different titling method to your positive videos. These argue for a thesis of high quality, and so they should be titled as such. It's clickbaity to have a mis-alignment between the title and the content of the video, and it's clickbaity to have a title that's ambiguous and requires the viewer to click the video to see the thesis (in a situation where it's possible to communicate the thesis in a short phrase).
