@@UnclePete I like the ABV with RB but I agree it is a bit pricey - more so here than in the U.S. It's my go to as I really like the taste and strength so it packs a punch in a cocktail. I drink Bourbon the least for spirits but I like to have it on hand for a nice cocktail or if a friend enjoys it in a drink! I buy Blue Run for sipping! Pricey but delicious! Great video Pete!

This is a fun experiment! I've used Wild Turkey 101 for years as my home bar bourbon, but I've never really branched out to try any other offerings. I like it in a boulevardier quite a lot, which is one of my personal favorite cocktails, so I've just stuck with it. I bought a bottle of Old Granddad BiB on the rec of a friend and found that pretty pleasing as well, but not enough to make me want to switch. Creature of habit I suppose. I've tried Evan WIlliams BiB as well at my friend's house and I don't personally enjoy it as much, I get more oakiness from the wild turkey so it stands out a bit more to me. Or I'm just used to WT 101 at this point, another one of life's many mysteries. Cheers, time to watch part 2.

Good video - I also like Old Forester so far (but I agree they all taste somewhat similar and glad to hear someone else say that). I keep most of the one's you mentioned and rotate for now. I do like that you share the "recipe" I am new to making cocktails for myself to this is helpful. I am looking forward to seeing what you think of these Bourbon's when you make the "Whiskey Sour". That is one of my favorite bourbon drinks. Keep up the great reviews.

Of course I read the cards (though don't have to, because no rules). At home I tend to alternate between ogd bonded and evan williams bib. I'm not the biggest bourbon person and for me generally the less peanut the better. Maybe instead of a whiskey sour you could do a lion's tail comparison. The true measure of a bourbon is how it plays with lime, right?

Old Forester and Elijah Craig are great picks. Both hold up well in a cocktail. FYI - for those looking for a quality bourbon on a budget, look for Jim Beam's limited edition 'Old Tub' - $19.99 for 750ml in Pennsylvania. Pretty solid.

Bless your cold, robot interior, Pete. That was super informative. Thank you! My go-to lately has been Knob Creek, but not for any informed reason other than that it's higher proof than Bulleit. Bulleit bourbon and rye are virtually OMNIPRESENT here in San Francisco. Do you happen to have formed an opinion about Bulleit bourbon? I'd like to hear it. Next bottle for me is going to be that Old Forester.
@UnclePete
6 ай бұрын
Bulleit was suddenly everywhere here too, and for most of its early life it was sourced from indiana, or someplace. Which I thought was pretty lame given the marketing. (Frontier Whisky?? WtF) They have built a distillery now, but I don't think its anything special. Owned by Diagio a giant globo corp so, Bulleit, meh.

Also, I love a half bottle or 200 mL. I'd actually rather the inclusion criteria be you can get in a 375 than in a 1.75. And in NC (control state) the price per mL is often very close regardless of size, sometimes smaller sizes even being less expensive per mL.
@UnclePete

Oh thats crazy, a 1.75 here is MUCH cheaper and most things dont even come in a half bottle. But I love half bottles of vermouth, I with there was more of that.

Nice idea, and interesting. But, I wish you would consider including a non-Kentucky Bourbon. I see you are not interested in wheated, but, fwiw, my go to is the reasonably easily available and very delicious Old Elk Wheated Straight Bourbon. (I tend towards the wheaters as the first Bourbon I drank with any consistency and then made drinks with was Maker's.) And ... yes, I read the recipes as it seems nobody's is always exactly the same. Look forward to seeing how the Sours are impacted.
