Just had it done for the first time couple days ago and o can certainly say it WORKS! Have had some deep deep knots behind my right scapula and normal massage therapy couldn’t relieve very well. Knots were bad enough that for the last year my right arm and shoulder feel unbelievably fatigued. A 30 minute massage and 5 minutes with the cups on me made such a massive difference. The fatigue is practically gone over night.

Omg I just had it done after almost three years of having a stiff right shoulder that was even hard to lift up for anything. Also, a lot of painful sleepless nights bc I couldn’t even sleep on my right side from the pain 😢I did this for 15 minutes plus some bone cracking on my top back and felt instant relief. The therapist said I was very tense on my back 😮

If you're hesitant to try cupping therapy and wondering if it really works, based on my experience (I’ve done it around 10 times), it does help relax muscle pain. Just be very careful when choosing a therapist-research their reviews and make sure everything is clean, especially the cups and needles used for wet cupping. Personally, I believe the blood that comes out during the process is 'dirty blood,' and it's better to remove it from your body, similar to how blood donation works.

It works! First time last night and it completely took away my neck and shoulder tightness. I was taking pain meds everyday from the tightness and tension headaches. Instantly it felt great and I could actually feel the muscles releasing. Amazing. My wife didn’t like it because it felt weird, so I think only do it if you need it.

I just had my first cupping experience and it definitely worked! I've been suffering from muscle pain, stiffness, and deep knots the past few months and this one just removed all of that. As someone who had a post-grad science background, I wouldn't normally rely on this and would rather go to physiotherapists. But after so many unsuccessful sessions with different physiotherapists, I decided to do chiro and this and I would say they are waayyy better than what physiotherapists do (with the exception of dry needling--that sh*t slaps and is super effective as well). Note that I've paired cupping with acupuncture.

The studies show potential but just tell me that currently more robust clinical trials are needed. I like the use of sham cupping as a placebo. The problem with cupping and comparing it to placebo is that there seems to be no good placebo to compare it to. Unlike medications where one can really blind a study by giving a patient a pill that looks exactly like the test drug, it seems that one can't fool a test subject into getting something that looks like cupping but isn't? Patient might still be able to tell the difference based on technique and lack of bruising if a sham cupping technique is used. It seems hard to double-blind in short opening this up to so much bias.

I don't know if the veracity of your claims support 'cupping' therapy. More intense and viable research is required. I get the significance of a P-value < 0.01, but it can be argued the low P-value is due to tried and true Western medical therapy.

Hmm, the mechanism for relief of musculoskeletal pain via pain gating theory (wherein stimulation of nerves can block other sensations such as pain) and increased fascial separation seems plausible... although I'm not a rehab doctor. But I'm concerned about wet cupping because it sounds very similar to bloodletting which was historically done in the West but discontinued. If drawing blood out would work then bloodletting should also work well.
