I would recommend shadow of the empire but you have to understand that it is better to play it as an FPS change the camera and configure the controls to have strafing available in your way and that's it you will have a good time if you bypass this little hustle. This game formula is what the series need, many modes and different grades of achievement on top of collectables it was way ahead of its time. One of my favorites on the n64 although it is original for the PC. Rogue squadron series is a must if you like the concept of ships and missions.

The remaster is a bit pricy but It would be the first time I spent my own money on it, since originally it was a gift back in the 90s , and then a welcome to steam gift from a friend who got me back into pc gaming. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll happen. They ripped off a lot of Kyle's story in Rogue One and in Star Wars Rebels. Cassian Andor is pretty much Kyle, and Kanan is pretty much Kyle and Rahm Kota. Jyn Erso is Jan Ors (even the name is an anagram relating to Jan) if Jan was the main character of Dark Forces, and they used the Darktroopers already on the Mandalorian. it would have to be a total reboot in order to make Kyle make sense within the story.

They could still do Kyle's fight with the Seven Dark Jedi, but a lot of Kyle's appeal is in his origin and the fact that he's a former Imperial turned Rebel agent, so they'd really have to work to shoehorn him in. Yeah. But the retcon is how 1) the first mission to steal the Death Star plans is basically impossible, the timeframe is wrong, the base has no need for the plans, and only 35 armed guards? and 2) 5 years later, Kyle joins the Rebel Alliance for mission 2, the story of the game. and 3) His condition for joining is to have Jan Ors as commander... a Jynn Erso memorial? It's all very propagandistic, like the game is a VR training simulator, aimed at heroifying Kyle Katarn, to galvanize new recruits against the Empire (by having Katarn killed?).

Nightdive is committed to faithful updates to older games, it was definitely a deliberate choice to leave all the old clunky levels (like the sewer... *shudder*) intact - they made it so you could flip back and forth between the original and new assets so that essentially locked them in to exact level accuracy. I loved this game when it first came out but I think we can all admit it had some shortcomings and several things haven't aged gracefully, it was only a slight step up from a DOOM conversion mod after all. The sequels Jedi Knight and Outcast were dramatic improvements in every respect, leaving this one a bit antiquated by comparison. But important for historical reasons.

I had this on my first computer with windows 95. Never got the sound working but I have fond memories of playing it. The price is pretty high on switch I’ll probably wait for a sale like the other Star Wars games always get heavily discounted.

Fun fact: the reason why the Stormtroopers blaster is so inaccurate is grounded in lore as they used cheap mass-produced crystals that resulted in poor accuracy of the blasters.

People in the comments of other videos have told me that they didn't update the one thing I absolutely hated about the original game: Auto aim. Why would they release a version of the game with free aiming with the mouse, and not include an option to turn off the auto aim? Why do I hate it? Let's say that there are a bunch of Stormtroopers next to some exploding cannisters. A couple blaster shots would blow up the cannisters and kill all the enemies. Except that the game won't let you shoot the cannisters because the auto aim will target all the enemies first. Want to use the concussion rifle against enemies on a high ledge? Good luck, auto aim will target the wall below them. Want to shoot at the Dark Troopers that just appeared on the other side of the room? Not until you've killed every last Stormtrooper that's between you and them, down on the level below you.

Sounds to me like the remaster is the definitive way to play the game, and it seems like it works on Steam Deck, so I'll consider it if I can get a good price, since Australian prices for games usually suck. Would be nice if they added the CD soundtrack from the PS1 version as an option.

Perhaps a future update may add them. Either way, for now, just bear with it and get good. Players like you should hone their gaming skills away from the strange easiness of the Jedi games featuring Cal Kestis.

@@michaelandreipalon359 I’ve never played those Jedi games. A flawed game design doesn’t make anyone playing it bad or “need to get good” because they are lost. With that logic, only bad players couldn’t finish Digimon world 3 when in reality, the game was extremely cryptic with triggering events. I grew up playing the these old games, doesn’t mean we need to put up with it anymore
