@@dominic4661 i had a really unique situation tbh. Somewhat embarrassing but maybe you'll relate. I started losing hair at 22. By the time I was 24 and graduating university I realized I was forming a bald spot and my temples were receding. I took pride in looking good and didnt want to bald young. I eventually purchased finastride and micro dosed it. Taking .7mg. Soon after, taking minoxidil as well. The hair loss was getting bad. For 6 months after I kept losing hair. I started using topik, a cover up fiber. Anyway, my girlfriend and I broke up and I was left alone with my insecurities. I decided to stay on the regimen for a year or two until I build up enough cash to get this done. During the pandemic everything shut down but the clinic I was scoping out was still taking clients during covid. They offered an fue transplant for 5k. I grabbed my cash. Got it done during the lockdown and continued to work from home. Its now 3 months post fue and it's starting to grow. Still not happy with how I look but I'm going to see it out. I dont want to be defined by hairloss. I work in a very front office role which requires confidence. Im hoping that in the next 3 months I'll have results which I can be proud of. Anyway. Thats the story, and my struggle with beating hairloss.

Finasteride doesn't lose any strength or efficacy over time. Simple blood work on your DHT levels will confirm this. The fact is, it doesn't actually stop hairloss for some people, and might only slow things down. So over time, those people will accumulate loss, and then think the drug has stopped working while in reality they were just still slowly losing hair over time.

Great video and love the shirt btw. I believe the ideas that finasteride stops working is started from younger guys. I think young guys who have very aggressive hair loss worry about this because they fear that they will lose their hair eventually even while on finasteride. That fear gives them anxiety and they doubt the efficacy of fin. I too would put myself in this category. I think we love fin for what it does but have anxiety that over time, we will go bald even while on the drug being that we started so young in late teens/early twenties. I think young guys need a routine that will give them a peace of mind that they will not lose hair

Hey guys, I would like to share my experience with finasteride! it's been almost 2 months that I've been using Finasteride and the only thing I felt was a ball ache as if during two days my balls felt like they were kick! Luckily it's not permanent, I suggest to you to go for a lower dose at the beginning if you think your genes aren't the main cause of your hairloss ! Right now, I've seen growth in my temples but my hair is still a little thin in the front but not as bad as it was at the peak without finasteride! Keep in mind that medidation, exercise and cold shower are to my opinion a big factor to my progress since my hairloss was accelerated due to stress and also my genetics !

Hi Kevin, you already made a video about breezula as a future alternative to fin for the small % of people who have sides for it, and breezula was aproved for acne this mounth as think, so maybe the next step will be as a treatment for hairlost. We know Fin is the closest thing we have to a cure. That being said, it would be interesting if you make a video speculating about very promising future treatments, that can compete with finasteride. I am talking about new substances that are very promising withstill lack of research, but that could be a potential candidate to a permanent cure (including good regrowth), beside of follicular cloning.

Yeah, I'd assume DUT would work the same and I wouldn't worry about the increase in T from DUT, baseline T levels are not shown to be harmful to hair, only super physiological levels and the increase in T that DUT gives you isn't nearly large enough. I started losing hair in my late teens. Although minor, for me it was noticeable especially when you have a big forehead and fine hair to boot. I got on fin when I turned 20. No regrowth or anything. After 4 years I noticed that I was starting to lose a little ground, emphasis on little, so I decided to throw the truck at it. Dutasteride once a week, finasteride 5 times a week, nizoral once a week, a concoction of general-health vitamins spread throughout the week, minoxidil and alfatrodiol every evening and 1.5 miconeedling every few weeks. For me, right now, this regime is working and regrowing hair that I forgot I ever had.

Did you have any shedding phases in your experience of switching?
@VioletQuartz

@@matthewsnyder3517 I'm no expert on the matter at all, I'd leave that to Kevin. There are a number of reasons that could have happened. I didn't switch exactly, I still take 5 fin a week, only with one extra dose of dut. As a result I didn't experience any shedding, I was also using minox and microneedling when I switched so this could have helped. From what I've read, dutasteride stays quite present in the body for quite a while hence why I've only introduced it once a week since it'll more or less do exactly what I need it to do (that I've concluded from my own research) I'd suggest talking to a dermatologist because dutasteride is pretty much a DHT nuke. I have good news. I've been using dutasteride and oral minoxidil, and it's going really well. My diffuse thinning was so severe in early 2021 that I had no choice but to shave it. I eventually let it grow and used Toppik to conceal the diffuse thinning. I'm not sure which drug helped more, but I know that dutasteride is a powerful DHT inhibitor, and oral minoxidil is a regrowth stimulant. I've stopped using Toppik because I don't need it as long as I've washed and dried my hair. It's wonderful to be able to use a comb again. I know oral minoxidil is unpopular on this channel, but it's effective, and that's what's most important to me.

Hey Kevin, after getting side effects from oral finasteride 1mg (I was on it for two years consistently), I switched to topical fin to mitigate side effects. I'm on a VERY low dose topical finasteride (.01%) mixed in 60 ml 5% minoxidil. I literally just crushed 6 fin 1mg tablets and mixed it in the bottle. I use it once a night every night a long with a dermaroller once a week. All of my sides have disappeared since I switched to topical and my original NW1 hairline is slowly reappearing over the months, which never happened while i was on oral +minox (I started fighting hairloss at NW2). Makes me wonder if topical fin is more effective than oral? Or perhaps its the duotherapy (minox +fin in same solution) that makes it such a good treatment. Anyway great video as always! Truly finasteride is a great drug.

Hey Kevin, huge fan of your videos, you're definitely one of the best resources on the web when it comes to hairloss. I started noticing I was thinning at around 21-22 and finally it got bad enough that when I turned 24 I hopped on fin. I've been on finasteride for about two and a half years now and initially had great results. My hair started to look healthier and thicker but then about 8 months in I had a major shed which basically put me back to baseline. I've had steady improvements followed by periods of heavy shedding, but it's getting to the point that after this latest shed I'm now below baseline and in the right lighting my diffuse thinning is bad enough that you can see scalp all along my head. I've been applying minoxodil for 2 year's as well and began dermapenning a year ago (with great results initially), but I just continue to get worse. Am I just genetically fucked? Is it time to get on dut? Any chance of recovering from this or is it time to start looking at hair transplant doctors?

Hey Kevin, great work with all of these videos. Every time I get anxious about my hair loss, I watch ur vids and feel so much more confident. I have a quick question about side effects. I started taking fin about 3 weeks ago. After having a sudden shed at 20, I visited my derm and got a prescription for Finn. Although I can’t say whether or not it has impacted my shed. Since I’m currently using it with minoxidil, I expect to have some shedding early on. However, I have noticed decreased libido, increased viscosity of my sperm (more watery) and also slight pain in my testicle after ejaculation. I’m confident that these side effect will remit with use, but I was wondering if this is a good sign that the medication is working or whether these symptoms are odd. Also I have a feeling that my derm doesn’t really know much about hair loss. He told me to start taking 5 mg of fin right away, and also told me that we can try oral minoxidil down the line. I also caught it petty early on, no receding hair line and only slight thinning in my vertex, but this derm looked me in the face and told me that I will eventually be bald even if I go in for serval hair transplant and continue using fin and minoxidil for ever. Kinda odd. But I read about the response curve of fin and decided to quarter the fin pills so that I would be taking 1.25 mg daily. Thank u so much for everything :)

You can further reduce the dosage to 0.5mg if u are getting sides. And your derm is a moron for sure

I would get a second opinion, I am shocked a dermatologist would recommend oral minoxidil. 1.25 MG is what I use daily but if you're getting sides and they don't go away maybe try halving a propecia tablet or even quartering it, or you could try it every other day. First thing to do would be to get a second opinion from another doctor though.

Its unbelivable how much dht is bad for skin, fortunetly i dont thing i lost any hair during that time but my scalp has been getting more itchy those 2 weeks i wasnt taking it

That is awesome that it helped your acne as well. It makes sense because DUT lowers the type I 5a enzyme which is active on the skin. I have forgotten my fin as well before and even if I lose some ground I easily get it back as soon as I get back on fin.

Took my first pill yesterday. I have been seeing your videos and you have given me a lot of courage to start. Although my dermatologist has prescribed me 1 mg but i am taking 0.5 mg just to be safe.

That's awesome to hear and yeah that sounds good and yeah finasteride is not very dose dependent so 0.5 MG should be plenty.

Im on finasteride thanks to u and ive had some good results i been wanting to go to the gym but im concern by producing more testosterone and messing up my gains and my hair getting thin again plus ive been told that taking protein also affects hairloss what is you advise

You don't have to worry, the increase in androgens is algorithmic as in it affects targeted tissues, it doesn't raise scalp DHT.

Thank you and I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe throw in minoxidil as well? Maybe even some stemoxydine or alfatradiol mixed with RU (for research purposes). Might as well throw the kitchen sink at it.

It’s clearly evident that finasteride does not cause “Brain Fog”. Kevin is as sharp as a blade.

Kevin, can you do more videos on vegan stuff? The whole pandemic has made us all just eat fast food all day. I hope you can allocate some time into this. After 6months, most people are feeling the bad effects of these eating habits. If you can make something happen, I'd be very grateful.

Sure man, I guess the only reason I haven't talked much about it is because I feel most vegan channels can cover the subject better than I can but I have some ideas.

@@haircafekevin I ate some broccoli yesterday. It wasn't that bad until a few mins later until the aftertaste of it lingered in my mouth for an hour. :/ You always know what to say and have our best interests in mind.

@@JR-xn6yu Ha, thanks man and yeah I don't like broccoli that much. Its good for me though so I force it down. I don't know if you've seen them but I did create some what I eat in a day videos as a vegan. Check the vegan sub section of my channel if you haven't.

Some of the early studies included women, but the risks during pregnancy precluded its being approved for women. I know that there are some studies of high dose finasteride in female pattern hair loss. I might do a video on that. Hope you have success.

Thats a good sign bro, alot of people that take finasteride will go through a shedding phase. This means your miniturized hairs are falling out and thicker hairs will grow back and replace them. You need to use finasteride for at least a year to see asses results!

Lots of teenagers successfully use finasteride but you probably want to use minoxidil as well. We have breezula coming out in a couple of years too so if you start to lose ground in a few years you can add that. Whatever you do just talk to your doctor ASAP.
