Often people think hair fall increases when you stop using Minoxidil
Is it true?
⁃ First of all, Minoxidil is a solution which improves the blood circulation to the scalp. So there are more nutrients reaching the hair follicle, so the miniature hair become thicker, the weaker hair becomes stronger and the thinning improves.
⁃ Also, Minoxidil retains the hair in the cycle called anagen or growth cycle.
⁃ So in cases of male pattern alopecia or female pattern alopecia which is androgenetic.
⁃ As long as you are using minoxidil the hair are retain in the anagen phase when you stop it, the hair will just start falling all over again and there is thinning.
⁃ However if you are use minoxidil in cases of telogen effluvium, you know where there is hair loss due to nutrition deficiencies or surgery or some illness.
⁃ There will be hair regrowth and when you stop minoxidil there will not be any shedding.
