I often use big weights even when doing wrist curls. For example, If I get 12+ reps, It's not enough weight IMO so I'll add so I get only like 3-8 reps. Same goes for abs. Many do 200+ reps for abs, but I noticed best results with 6 - 12 reps for abs.

Been lifting for a couple years and gotten pretty damn strong on the big lifts so I automatically thought I was going to steamroll most guys. Turns out i'm weak as fuck in armwrestling and i'm having a hard time beating even the skinniest of guys lol. I'm sure it helps to some extent but at the end of the day I think you have to do specifix exercises for it to benefit your armwrestling to a point where it matters.

@Kool Burn - That's true. Mazurenko visited his home and we could see this crude machine Oleg's father created. The weights he used were quite low for him. He could pull it all even when the line slipped off the pulley and dragged against the bolt, and to test his current max they had to ask Oleg's father to rig some sort of support structure for the table.

@pan peter I'm not sure if the comment is aimed at me , however I do believe in the importance of weight lifting for armwrestling. It's tje greatest and most measurable way of your progress. However some armwrestlers steer from the gym and believe that table time is everything like Breznk. Still he has exceptional genes and everything but that's his view. For me , I can't believe the pulling alone is gonna be efficient.

If you have problems accessing your muscles, a technique master can beat strength. It's like Judo using balance and exploting the other persons coordination weakness. But, a person being able to lift double the weight in for example biceps curl, wrist curl, pronation exercice and pulling movements with your back, off course it matters. The winner will always be the one who has both technique and strength. With equal technique, the strongest will win.

@brentlionakaboldchamp
5 жыл бұрын
djsalvi26 I can give an example. The guy in this video has 100 kg of side pressure. Thats 220 lbs. I measured my mom's side pressure at 31 lbs (14.1 kg). Most normal guys have between 40 - 50 lbs (18.2 - 22.75 kg) side pressure. My side pressure is probably 60 kg or so (132.3 lbs). Rustam Babayev, at about 190 - 200 lbs, could table curl over 220 lbs (100 kg) with one arm. Many arm wrestlers work on preacher curls and scott curls with between 50 - 90 kg, usually. Some can wrist curl over 350 lbs (159.25 kg) with one arm, or do one armed pullups or one armed holds at between 200 - 260 lbs. They are immensely powerful.

If someone doing full range of motion and you are doing half of the motion you have big adventage because half motion is fir armwrestling and also dont say that big muscular guys cant win against skinny guys because weights does not matter , they can win because they are training. I personally train all arm and forearm muscles based on their anatomy and function: bicep braquial, braquialis, braquiradialis, pronator teres, wrist flexors, and finger flexors. Working all those muscles will help me gain good position in an arm wrestling match, but, there is something that I have observed on the most strongest armwrestlers, they all have insane side pressure. Why did John won over Ivakin again and again? Ivakin: insane backpressure but relatively weak side pressure. John: insane side pressure although not the best backpressure. Another example: Todd Hutchings always goes onto a hook or gets his hand eliminated, still wins the match. But why this happens? Because of overwhelming side pressure he has. There are so many more examples out there. Analizing this, I think the clue to be the best is to put the necessary attention to get the connective tissue as strong as possible so all the structure doesn’t break in an arm wrestling match.

Last couple of years I have relative weak wrist joints, so in the gym and at home I’m pretty careful with weights. My experience, because of the wrists, I prefer doing slow reps with not so much weight and isometric. I don’t feel less strong than when I didn’t have wrist problems. Maybe even stronger. Besides, the low and slowly reps make exercises less risky for injuries and it reduces the possibility of “cheating”. Just my personal experience though

Good video. Here's my summery that I've witnessed first hand. Two untrained men of similar size want to arm wrestle in the bar. The one has a half assed job at best, lives in his parents basement, goes to the gym and lifts religiously and he's very strong in basic power lifts.. The other guy has a demanding physical job, let's say something like swinging a hammer, cranking on a wrench, peeling logs with a draw knife or upholtering stiff carpet until his hands hurt. This guy used to lift in high school but now only casually hits the bench press and does pull ups on the weekends..... The working man that uses his hands and forearms around the clock will win the match almost EVERY SINGLE TIME unless there's a huge size difference. The reason I know this is because I've been both guys at some point in my life

It is an intricate questions, with no definite answer. Many ways lead to Rome and so do this matter. My thinking or philosophy on the subject is that helps, but I think it is a matter of when you do it, or/periodization. Support muscles are important to make the muscles to be able to perform as you want, to be strong in arm wrestling technique. I believe that you should prepare not so specificallly in off season and when you get closer and closer to your main goals during the season, you should do more specific or just specific arm wrestling exercises. That way you also are more preparees for heavy loads during the season and you have a better chance to stay injury free. So then it matter most what you do to recuperate. Yes, it helps to very specific, but you need a very good foundation to be able to do perform at your best. That includes many things... Lifting, nutrition, sleep, recuperation, preperation, table training, injury awareness etc... As he said, arm wrestling is complicated. Some things are genetic, but curiosity, dedication, talent and time is the key.

David Jhonson Dont train static holds every day. Its too taxing on the arms. Train it twice a week or so.

That's a Stupid question. If Strength was not important then women would be better than men. Also, if Strength was not important they wouldn't have Weight Classes. Strength is important in ALL sports. THE CORRECT QUESTION IS "HOW IMPORTANT IT IS??".

" If Strength was not important then women would be better than men." - explain this? And when do I say strength is not important?

You yourself didn't understand the video man. And *if* strength didn't play role (which coach didn't say) then saying women will be better than men is illogical

Constantinos Spartiatis He didnt say it wasnt important, just that someone being stronger in a specific area doesnt mean that you, after building up a similar strength in that area, has an ensured victory or draw.

Being heavier means being stronger ?!...
@brentlionakaboldchamp

@@jasonvoorhees8899 Not always, but especially between arm wrestlers, the bigger man, though not always, is usually stronger. That's because they all are strong, and heavier guys has the greatest potential for overall strength. Sometimes even huge, strong guys that don't train are very strong at arm wrestling, or guys not so big can be really strong.

you just literallyy saved my ass and gave me direction u have no ideaa..for so many years i wasnt training..like at all :D all i did for the last 3 maybe 4 months was practice with my 61y old father twice a week for 20mins.. for the last 4-5 years i did literally no training..maybe like every third month some practice with fellow AWers at best..i wasnt improving from training so i gave up on it..i just didnt knew how to train and improve..but after i won Senec Hand 2019 few days ago i got really motivated to do well..but with a better competition i would struggle on the strenght level and now i have an idea which way i can try to go.what to do..not 110% but im so much closer..u know i know personally people who were preparing months for this competition and i beat one of them kinda easy and the second guy i was beating in a hard match but he fouled and smashed me in a restart match he just went all guns blazin on the start and i couldnt stop him like the first match..im so fking close even without training :D but if im gonna spend my time training i have to do it right so its not a waste of time and effort..the guy was preparing hard he is one of the best in Slovakia..definetly top 3 in slovakia under 80kg and i almost beat him with 0 training the fun practice with father doesnt count its not serious but looks like it helped lol i would lose if if it didnt. :D i came just to watch people at senechand for fun..and my friend, fellow AW guy and father persuaded me in the morning i competed in jeans with 0 preparation and rest time :D
