Nothing beats Plan F. Too bad it is no longer available for new coverage.

Plan F truly did cover everything! But Plan G is pretty darn close!

I've been using Plan D and I like it well enough. I'm also getting a Silver Sneakers membership included. Do all Plan D coverages include that or only my specific carrier? Does it come with other Medicare plans?

Most Medigap plans will offer some type of fitness benefits, but not all offer Silver Sneakers. it's great that your does and that you're able to take advantage of it!

I am reading in articles that since 2020, plan C and F are not available to new medicare enrollees. My concern is about the 20% deductible for outpatient services on part B. Say for example, chemotherapy could cost 100s of thousands of dollars as many treatments are done as outpatient. Note that many chemotherapy drugs are injectables and come under part B coverage (and not part D). There could be so many other expensive outpatient procedures as well. Is there a way to cover this 20% deductible similar to how older retirees had (or have) with the medigap plans that covered (or cover) the 20% of part B deductible? Thanks.

Yes, Part B has a 20% coinsurance which for basic doctor's visits is probably going to be rather low. But you are correct that for something like chemotherapy a 20% coinsurance could be rather expensive. But this is coinsurance not a deductible. So, medial plans will cover that. The Part B deductible is a once annual out of pocket cost of $240 in 2024. Thanks for your question!

@@iHealthBrokers True. I am not worried about doctor copays for small amounts. I know someone had a chemo recently and the infusions cost about 200K for 1 cycle. And this could go on for many months or years. Fortunately they had commercial insurance. For something like medicare, would a patient be expected to pay 40K (20% part B deductible), which most cannot afford or make them go bankrupt. I don't understand why C and F were removed. Thanks.

@@pathkris2984 Gosh that is terrible. So, this is 100% why we recommend Medigap (Medicare Supplement Plans). That being said, Plan C and Plan F covered the Part B deductible, but ALL of the plans will cover Part B coinsurance. This 20% is coinsurance, not the deductible. So any Medigap plan would cover that extremely expensive chemotherapy in your example. (although plan K & Plan L wouldn't cover it completely, the other plans would).

@@iHealthBrokers Thanks for the clarification. I got confused between deductible and coinsurance. So basically the deductible is not covered, which is fine as it is a small amount. But the medigap plans (except K/L), will cover the coinsurance part 20%, which is the major part of these treatments. It is good to know.

@@pathkris2984 Exactly so! And yes, the deductible for Part B is pretty small. In 2024, it's $240 (definitely nowhere near that scary 20% number!).
