I reflowed my Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Ti OC Gaming Windforce about half a year ago and got it to work way better and at lower heat output, previous owner had used it for mining and the heat had melted some connections, it has been working ever since and I just sold it as I upgraded to a 6800xt.

Overheating was likely solved by applying new paste or maybe even pads and cleaning. Reflow does not effect performance.

@@northwestrepair I can't and won't prove you wrong. I quess the random tearing possibly got fixed by the reflow?
@northwestrepair

@@ouzeir8439 possibly. I think reball is better practice then reflow. Reflow would require higher temperature then the removal of the GPU because you want solder balls to reach not only soft/removable state but hotter soldering state enough to reattach it's self to pads. Once reballed, soldering temperatures are significantly lower if leaded balls are used.

But what test can I do to be sure is really good to go for long periods

My video card fan went to craps and so I was forced to take the heatsink off to repair the fan, was no other way of getting the fan off due to the card design. I repaired the fan, physical blade damage only, not electrical and then put it all back together. Went to post and nothing, no screen, when before the card worked with zero issues. Finally I got a screen after messing with it, but now it's just major artifacting beyond use. I did have a hard time getting the heatsink off, it was pretty stuck on the GPU, I'm wondering if that didn't mess something up?... and is it fixable? Could reflowing the GPU fix the artifacting?... or is it a vram issue?

Apoerantly EVGA and Nvidia had a major disagreement about Nvidia's restrictions, and EVGA recently announced they will no longer do business with them. So no 40series GPU's from them.

GPU can sag over time. Wrong thermal pads being used will bend the PCB, damage to the heatsink (bent ),overheating. But mostly extreme heat cycles will do it. People can’t be bothered listening to cooling fans doing their work so the industry responded with fans that are turned off until 60c, don’t spin fast enough, etc so cooling is hindered.

2 Questions! 1) Is there a memory test program to run for the older ATI cards (year 2006 x800 pcie card)? All the "Pass!" tests I see people using, seem to be for Nvidia cards 2) Also, some videos I watch say that lead free solder will melt/reflow at 235 celcius, while others say 250 celcius. Which would you say sounds.. right? Thanks!

I have an rx 570 and last 2 months it began to black screen for a few seconds then it would return. Now the frequency of the black screening has increased, i hear a connect and disconnect device sound. When drivers not installed it didn't act up. Just yesterday the PC now does not seem to boot sometimes. But when i remove the gpu it boots to windows. Will this reballing help? I currently have the money for a new card. I live in a high humid area right next to the beach.

According to experts this is a TEMPORARY fix. It can last some weeks or in best cases a few years. If you have money for a new card... You should buy it yeah! Even because videogames demand more from GPU's... A RX570 isn't a top performer so... There isn't much point to fix it anyways. Depends on what value you give to money lol If you don't mind throwing a few dollars to fix an old card, for it to temporarily work, you should try to repair it. If you don't like to throw away money and you want a GPU that runs for years and the latest games... Buy a new one. When you said "Removed the GPU it boots to windows" hammmmm... So where did you connected the HDMI/DP cable??? Because you need to connect that cable somewhere to get a display on monitor lol Some motherboards have HDMI/DP connectors... And if you have a CPU with Integrated Graphics (which most have), yeah, the computer will give display. As long as you have a good working CPU!!! Although the graphics will suc*! Because CPU's with Integrated Graphics run at a FRACTION of a GPU. So to give an example... A GPU runs at a 1,5GHz frequency, while the CPU IG will run at 300MHz

look at GPUZ temperatures while running furmark. If you go above 80 on the core and above 90 on hotspot, i would clean the card and apply new paste and pads. If that does not help, i'd sell it and buy 3 fan version or look at your PC and see if you may have a bad air flow inside the case.
