Does spritzing make your brisket more juicy and flavorful? In this experiment Steve Gow from @smoketrailsbbq smokes two briskets - one spritzed every 30 minutes and the other with no spritz at all. Will the spritzed brisket turn out more juicy and flavorful? Lets find out!
Spritzed Brisket Recipe:
Season brisket with a quarter cup course ground black pepper, a quarter cup kosher salt and 2 tablespoons of Lawry’s Seasoned Salt or Franklin BBQ spice rub.
Prepare spray bottle with 50/50 beef broth and pickle juice
Smoke brisket at 250 for 5 hours
After an hour, start spritzing the brisket every 30 minutes
At the 5 hour mark, foil boat the brisket and increase the smoker temperature to 275-300
Continue smoking until the brisket reaches at least 190 degrees internal everywhere you probe
Hold the brisket at 150 degrees for 18 hours
Slice and enjoy
