Some slick driving man. I know there's a comment or two down there that tell you otherwise, but honestly, not many people push a 650+HP RWD car like you do. Most people just put around the track in an M3 or Miata and want to tell you how the world works. It's easy to drive a 400HP car around a track nice and smooth, it's a whole 'nother story to drive a supercar around a track without it trying to kill you. And I saw the way you caught that oversteer at 5:16 with such conviction, that takes skill, reflexes and experience. Keep it up, I love watching your videos.

Lastly the ZO6 like other Vetts is terrible on a track outside of pro driver at the wheel. It instills no confidence as he makes clear. A good driver can get a 911GTS around most tracks faster than the ZO6 because a Porsche has usable power. A Vett does not. Lastly the ZO6 made Consumer Reports list of 5 least reliable cars on earth.

As much as you love Corvettes, you should definitely look at getting a C5 Z06 for around 20 grand and modifying to your heart's content. They used to go into autocross events a few years back bone stock and take first place all the time and some still do. They only weigh around 3000 pounds and handle so well it's unbelievable. Obviously stock vs stock the C7 Z06 is a much better car, but the C5 Z06 is the perfect "modder's Corvette". It's just a fantastic platform to build upon. But anyway, great video man, glad to see you uploading more content.
@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy

The C5Z is a great track car. It's actually the way I feel like the Z06 should've been, a lightweight Corvette that could run circles around anything on a track. The C6Z has the same pedigree. I don't know what happened here with the C7Z, they just threw us a big curve ball with this one. Anyway, It's a good suggestion and I'll probably shop for one once my track build obsession comes full circle. For now, I have my eyes on an Alfa 4C for track work. They are starting to come down in price and supposedly offer a lot of potential in a super lightweight package.

Excellent cinematography. As a former Auto C7 Z06 owner (previous to which were numerous M cars...), I implore you to drive a Manual ZL1 1LE. Heavier yes (by 300lbs) but it is the best blend of something that is much more raw and focused with kinematics that are better than the Corvette. It still has the Chevy ease of maintenance and 'reliability'. Take my word for what it is - the ZL1 1LE is calling your name and in every way - the best of all world's.
@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy

I had a manual C7Z before I bought this one, but as I was buying this auto C7Z, I was on the fence with a few ZL1 1LE's. It seems that I made the wrong choice for a track car. At this point, I just hope that the C8 Corvette will make up for all the shortcomings.
@AllIsWell_22

@@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy The short throw shifter in the ZL1 1LE will make you a believer. The MT in the C7 is garbage. As someone who put my money where my mouth is - I have the ZL1 1LE which is to do dual duty on street + track. Apart from the ride being a little harsh (DSSV) on the street (25% more stiffer than my E46 M3), the ZLE hits you with so much information. To quote Clarkson - you could run over a squirrel and know what it had for breakfast.

That overheat issue is depressing the hell out of me. More depressing is that Chevrolet never corrected the problem with its consumers and have quickly tried to flash a shiny C8 to make us C7 Z06 owners forget about it. Honestly, this was an uncool move by GM. Most of us are going to be stuck with that car until we can catch up in payments to it’s depreciable value. Worse is they cloned the Z06 and made the Grandsport after it to keep the sales high meanwhile undermining its Z06 owners. Most of their potential C8 buyers are C7 owners. Those of us who have had problems with the car haven’t forgotten and it’s going to impact C8 sales if you ask me. Honestly, I’m not impressed with the C8 either. I’d think twice before running out there and snatching up a C8. Apparently that overheat issue continues at the drag strip as well, where other cars can run the quarter mile all day and not overheat. It’s a painful lesson but when people say there is a problem that’s inherent to the car, better listen.

@@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy According to Horsepower obsessed, this car has NEVER HAD PROPER ALIGNMENT from the factory. I believe it was tested this way on motor trends TWO test and their HEAD TO HEAD test against the Nissan GTR. I also believe you and many others have been driving around a car that is not only misaligned, but miscalibrated for your suspension settings. Everything alluded to in his video was observed in limit testing by motor trend. The heat shield protectors are crucial as well. The journalist and the test driver from motor trend described these problems exactly as suspension and alignment problems FROM THE FACTORY. I truly believe this car was never prepped properly in GMs mass production setting. Listen carefully to RANDY POBST describe BUMP STEER characteristics of the Z06. At high speed its lethal combined with a suspension setting not able to compensate with weight transfer.

After your intro I was surprised by the production quality that greeted me. Being new to the channel and this being the first video I see from you (C7 fan here as well), I feel like the intro doesn't live up to what you have to offer. Once you figure out a fitting intro/branding and get the track footage setup right, so it lives up to other parts of the video (before and after track footage), this channel could be one of the bests in terms of production quality. Keep up the good work mate! p.s. What are the colors of the cars 0:20-0:50 and 0:55-1:20? Are they the same car?

Thanks for the comment. So you're saying I need to improve the intro sequence some more? I definitely need to work on the track camera angles. I have to figure out a way to get telemetry overlays to the video because I think that would really enhance the feel. It's the same car throughout the video, I guess it's just a matter of different lighting (artificial vs. natural sunlight).

@@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy Oh I see, what is the name of the color of the car then actually? Yes, I meant only the very few seconds of the video, I think there is room to improve on finding a fitting visual representation (logo) of what you do on the channel (let alone it's like a formula car, where you don't really do cars like that as I have seen). Good luck in the future!

Great job on the Z06 ! Here's the real ? Who wants a track car that's 90K plus but can overheat in a few laps? For that reason I'm out like a shark on shark tank ! The new ZL1 is a better deal ! Track it and never overheat ! And its cheaper ! I'm buying one !

Yes, I'm a big fan of the ZL1. I was on the fence between a Z06 and a ZL1 1LE. Looks like I made the wrong choice. Oh well!

The biggest problem IMO with the Z06 is the A8. Mine was tuned but still pails to my BMW with the ZF. You are right about the size though. Especially in very tight turns. Felt that before I blew my Engine in Coalinga. Roads there sucked.

Have you thought about just adding a Aux trans cooler? Seems like you'd have it all at that point. Great video (loved the roll race video as well)!

Corvettes are awesome cars!!! The C7 Z06 Z07 is where it's at for The C7 gen in my opinion!!!! But my favorite gen will always be the C2 (63-67)!

Love Corvettes! Had a C6 and hopefully get a C7 Z06 in the future. I'm also Asian too and get weird stares from other Asian people like if I'm suppose to drive a import or something. American muscle ftw!!

Oversteer is a good thing lol. But yes, I can see where it could be a little too much with this car.

I run Race mode (PTM5) in my ZL1 exclusively while on track. Let's the car get some rotation without letting you stuff it into a wall. It's actually quite brilliant in my opinion.

You have a legit channel....try the ZL1 .1LE with the same set up...i believe it has more coolers to keep all those problems at bay
