I usually agree with your RWBY takes, but I gotta disagree on your take regarding Mando season 3 for various reasons: -Pershing episode had no relevance to anything -Mythosaur had no relevance to anything -Three captured bird babies suddenly disappear from the show -Giant Gator is somehow gone -Mandos got to the planet, yet Din straight up says they don't actually have any ships, so how the hell did they get on the planet??? A taxi??? What happened to the Halo ring they were on before??? -The action sequences themselves are not good imo. Sure, they're extremely flashy, but you know what makes an action scene good? The actual action. Seeing mandos killing imperials who can't aim is not good action. Mandos killing pirates by standing in the open is not good action. Seeing space combat is not good action anymore, because you can easily predict how each space/ship battle will occur (Bad guys always miss, they fly into a narrow area and some hit a wall, bad guys somehow crash into each other, etc). -The actual plot has multiple holes in it as well and pretty much relies heavily on plot conveniences. Bo Katan's group just happens to land on the side of the entire planet, at the right time in order to encounter the survivors on Mandalore. The droid that Mando got just happens to be the same droid that the recurring Republic Fighter worked with. No other Mandalorian in existance happens to ever think, "Maybe we should go back and see how our planet is doing since the Empire is defeated". Grogu just happens to know how to easily operate machinery. Mando just happens to get lucky that Gideon doesn't immediately kill him, which goes nowhere since he actually has no problem killing him, so why did he not just kill him??? -Gideon, the main villain of the series, only shows up at the end. They could have used the time they had to build him up as a threat, because so far, Gideon has been pretty boring and relies solely on the actor to give him popularity. -Imperial Mandos are wearing Beskar, have jetpacks, yet fall to their deaths and are still getting one-shot when hit in their armored plates. How can Boba take multiple shots while wearing less Beskar than Din, yet the imperials still die in a few shots? -Not a single Mandalorian died in the jetpack battle -Interceptors fly past literally drop ships going down next to them and don't notice somehow

@RJ-xh4xb

Nah. Most of what you said can easily be explained. Even if I agree with you about the Pershing episode, I hated it too, because it stymied the momentum of the series...but that has a purpose...it introduced Elia Kaine, and exposed the incompetence of the New Republic. Also in the episode "Pirates", it showed that the resources of New Republic is over-extended, and the ineptitude of bureaucracy allows the remaining imperial forces to operate undetected. Which sets up Season 4, since Din Djarin will work for the New Republic in those matters that they are unwilling to tackle. The mythosaur's purpose was only to serve as a sign for the new age of Mandalore. Not necessarily to fight with them. Even the armorer has never seen one, then all of a sudden it will come out and fight? From its very name, "Mythosaur", "myth", aka "legend". That's why the Armorer decided to go with Bo Katan, because she has seen one, the Armorer thought it's the sign that they were waiting for. The imperial forces wearing Beskar armor goes down to the Mandalorians to highlight the fact that The Mandalorians are more than their armor and weapons. They are trained fighters and can easily best their opponents even when they wear the same Beskar armor. It's the Mandalorian fighting ability that counts, more than the Beskar. When Din Djarin fought them with only a knife, he targeted the exposed parts of the body, rather than hit the ones protected by Beskar. This is very obvious in the show. It's like this, someone wears Batman's armored costume with his utility belt, and fights the actual Batman, don't you think the impostor will not go down in 5 seconds? The Mandalorians know their armor, as well as their weaknesses. That's why the imperial forces were relatively easily defeated, despite wearing Beskar. The 3 bird babies will appear again. Yes, Din Djarin told the New Republic pilot that they didn't have ships...which could mean they didn't have fighter starships to fight against the pirates. Or he could just be giving an excuse. Or the other Mandalorians could have used a transport ship. They can get off world, since in that very episode they also said they will relocate to another planet. As for landing to where the surviving Mandalorians are, you are not paying attention....they were going to the Great Forge, that's why they landed on that area. Din Djarin also went to that area when he went there to bathe in the living waters of Mandalore. Most of what you said are nitpicks. There is such a thing as "suspension of disbelief", look it up. If you hate the show, don't watch. It's that simple. But your criticisms are "neither here nor there" (meaning, of little relevance).
@khronostheavenger8923
Жыл бұрын
@@RJ-xh4xb First off, beskar armor is resilient to blaster shots, that much is established. We saw when several stormtroopers were killed, the mandalorians' shots hit the stormtroopers breastplate, which should not be possible. This criticism is not invalid. If we saw a hand to hand fight or witnessed the more skilled mandos hitting the unarmored parts of the body, then fine, you have a good point. You even pointed out that Djin did this. But that isn't the case for the rest of the mandalorians. The stormtroopers went down to them in one shot to the breastplate. If you have a problem with that criticism, then I question your standards. I don't particularly care about one way or the other about the spy plot, but the armorer accepting Bo Katan is ridiculous. Katan has proved multiple times to have failed to lead the mandalorians and lost the planet three times. She should be a pariah and her claim to have seen the mythosaur highly suspect, especially since she is apparently the only witness assuming Djin didn't see it. Even if Djin did see it, it would make more sense for the armorer to see it as a sign Djin should unite the clans. It's not implausible that what happened happens, but it's highly unlikely to the point it became a plot convenience, a development in the plot that just works out for the characters in spite of how astronomically unlikely it is. "Suspension of disbelief" is a concept where we let go of the real world's rules in favor of the rules established in this fictional one. Therefore what is required from the show is consistency to their established rules. As shown with the beskar example, they did not. Don't go with whatever just because the action scenes look nice. That's why RWBY failed and Vexed Viewer's channel exists.

I adored the first 2 seasons. If you go back to Vex's first Star Wars video you'll find my comment saying "The Mandalorian is peak Star Wars." With that being said I was extremely dissapointed by this season and had no unrealistic expectations for S3. I made a bingo board of things I expected to happen, most were things I thought would make the show worse, and I checked off 80% of the boxes and got bingo. I'm going to be honest here, Vex doesn't really address any of the real issues that MOST people have with this season. Most people that are criticizing the show don't have problems with lack of fan theories becoming true or cameos, I care about none of those and quite frankly want none of those things to happen, and the cameos that we did in fact see, I didn't think were done well. Before the season started I was already worried for it because of The Child being back in the show. The first 2 seasons of The Mandalorian at it's core are about self reflection and one's own code and moral compass. The first 2 seasons work incredibly well because of the dynamic between Mando and The Child. The Child is the perfect piece of conflict to put into a story about a man of honor with a not so cut and dry moral compass. The Child had purpose, he was a mcguffin that existed to constantly test and strain Mando's code and the lines he draws, how far is he willing to go to protect this Child, someone he had grown to care about, it works so perfectly because The Child was the embodiment of innocence. And this questions had reached it's peak when Mando completely broke his code to obtain the Child back. Season 2's finale was the build up of everything, The Child is finally safe with his kind, but at the cost of everything Mando had stood for. The amazing payoff of Season 2's finale was swiftly and carelessly ruined by the events of TBOBF. These 2 characters needed time away from eachother to develop and grow on their own, and then later they could meet again potentially. But they should've gotten that development, especially Din. And before the season even starts, that's taken away, it ruins the whole point of the first 2 seasons. Now on to the actual season, season 3 does nothing to make up for this extreme loss in story significance. The Child is around for NO reason, he does NOTHING, he has no purpose in being present at all and he's just shoved in the camera over and over, he exists without direction or purpose. Which I can also say for this season as a whole. The direction was all over the place, the plot didn't start until episode 6, the show was always plot of the week but there was an over arching narrative and theme, this season barely has that and it isn't done well when it's there at all. The transitions don't work, the story could've been 3 episodes. So many things that just existed this season did nothing. Din is sidelined in his own show. The way the Dark Saber is handled is incredibly lazy and inconsistent. The ending doesn't do anything the characters just win it's the most bland ending ever, it has a bunch of cool action and that's it, there's so many plot conveniences throughout the season but I can't get to all of them here. Another thing, I don't appreciate that the show moved away from the Western feel and tone that S1 and 2 have, S3 feels as generic and bland as the MCU. I don't like that Disney is using this show to setup it's own "Mando Verse." One of the show's best aspects was it's isolation from the rest of Star Wars, the cameos in S2 work ONLY because they center around the character conflict within Mando OR the dynamic between Mando and The Child. Now it just feels like things are happening without theme or direction or narrative, but at the same time most of the season is filler asf it's the weirdest thing ever. Anyway I got off track, they shouldn't be setting things up like the MCU, it's a big galaxy.

The Spies much like other episode titles is a reference to a tale from Jewish culture also found in Christianity & Catholicism of the spies of Israel or the twelve spies. A lot of the episode lines up with general story beats: a small group of people return to their homeland, they find giant beasts, an armored fortress, and only handful leave to tell others what they find. The title double meaning is showing an actual spy at the start to contrast it with the homage to a story. This isn't shocking when understand that the Mandos are to represent a Jewish people, since Jon Favreau (Paz VA) is a Jewish man himself. This is why episode 6, the one with cameos really plays up that weapons are part of Mando culture (much like how Christians would often use Jews as bankers to get around certain beliefs). This is a pretty common thing and notably is played further by the differences in sects of Mandalors such as the Child of the Watch, Night Owls, and so on. Again, a lot of people took the name at face value, despite most of the series naming conventions doing this same thing (also infuriates me that a few people would bring this up, but ignore the twelve spies whole story being episode 7's entire plot).

The episode called "The Spies" was named and yet only showed one spy. So fans rightly assumed that the show was showing us another spy that hadn't outed themselves yet. The armorer was a fan fav theory because of how she just agreed to Bo. It was a heel turn that felt too out of left field, for someone that is the leader of this old way of being a Mandalorian to allow Bo to break their practices unless she had a different motive. In the end, it seems Disney just made a typo. Thru out the season the series seemed to be positioning Bo as the main character when most fans wanted Dinn and Grogu to be the leads. the show didn't really have an arc for Dinn and he was starting to feel like a side character in his own show.

The Spies are a reference to the spies of Israel or the twelve spies. In this scenario, the application is to the Mandos returning to Mandalore to spy on what was there and so on. Similar titles have existed prior, but way too many people didn't apply the biblical titles to that episode when the reference makes far more sense in that connection. That particular reference also explains why they find an Imperial base & a kaiju-sized monster on the planet.

That was basically my biggest criticism throughout the season. Din's tribe felt TOO willing to work with Bo Katan, the Dark Saber going back to Bo was SUCH a fxcking cop out, and Din (THE MANDALORIAN) was upstaged in his own show... I don't even watch fan theories all that much. I figured the story had an easy to read, compelling narrative it wanted to tell... but this season just wasted so much potential that could've spanned over several seasons (like what Disney allegedly wants *cough* 9 seasons with no clear end in mind reportedly). I do really like the finale though. I like that Mandalore is unified (albeit WAY too fast, but whatever), I like where the characters are and wanna see where they go... But I still can't help but feel slightly cheated somehow from this season. (Technically i felt cheated all the way back in Book of Boba with the reunion but that's too much to get into atm). All in all, I'm still hyped to see where The Mandalorian goes from here. The setup at the end of Season 3 has me eager to see what happens from here.

The violent faceless character was a good change of pace for those fans who hated the Sequels. Then they introduce a baby yoda like being and suddenly fans interest is peaked. The cameos for clone wars era characters and a return to form of the true Luke Skywalker and the show almost felt like True Star Wars goodness. Then suddenly this season happens and everything is reversed. And Dinn became second fiddle to the disgraced princess of Mandalore.

I haven't watched the show myself but I've definitely read up on spoilers and watched clips. Most I can say is the season has been lackluster and from what I've seen of the Mandalorians, i'm thoroughly disappointed that they have this much trouble with the beasts they encounter, given their reputation. If it weren't for that reputation, I could believe these beasts were as dangerous as they wanted us to believe. In regards to the ending, I think the main issue is that it seems like there will be a movie after the series that will conclude it, which poses a problem when the Finale has such a shut book conclusion. The ending is fitting, yes, but if the movie drags Din back into it RIGHT after he basically retires, then why should I believe he'll properly retire after the movie? I think that the episode itself isn't the issue and more everything else around it dragging it down.

No. It doesn't deserve the criticisms of certain viewers. Most of the butthurt fans expressed their disappointments because their "theories" and "specualtions" did not pan out. Most of those theories are nonsensical and amateurish anyway. Example, a lot of fans said "the armorer could be a spy because her helmet jas horns just like Moff Gideons". Hahaha! Ridiculous. There were some who said "Axe Woves will betray Bo Katan", uhhh why? What is that based on? There couldn't have been a spy among the Mandalorians because when Elia Kaine told Moff Gideon about the unification of the Mandalorians, he was surprised and did not even know who they were. If he had a Mandalorian operative, he would know about it. It's very easy to come up with any half-baked theory, but incorporating them to the story in a way that would make sense is another matter altogether. As for me, i only hated the 3rd episode (Dr Pershing and Elia Kaine), because it derailed the momentum of the series. That could have been omitted and season 3 would play better. I rewatched the season 2x now (3x counting the first time), I realized, if I binge watch Season 3 (skipping the Pershing episode), it played so much better. Disney Plus should have released the series either 4 episodes at a time, or all 8 episodes in one go (like Netflix), so it would play better.

I feel this whole season was underwhelming, and this finale sort of exemplifies that. How will Din and Bo reunite the clans? They just sort of do. 99% of the mandos are A-ok with this, even though half of them have basically abandoned being mandalorian and become mercs and the other half have very strict rules about behaviour and culture. None of this is ever an issue, don't worry about it. What grand plan has Moff Gideon been building up to? Beskar armour and force sensetive clones. How do we deal with those? Well the beskar troopers seem about as useless as regular troopers, and the force clones weren't done, so we just kill them all in the same scene they were introduced. Shouldn't one of these two plans have been at least a little threatening? Don't worry about it. Will Din be forced to remove his helmet again, like he has been consistently since the end of season 1, in ways that meaningfully develop his character? No. He just keeps it on the whole time. What kind of character arc do we have for him instead? None, don't worry about it. Is anyone going to be emotionally effected by anything that happens over the course of this season? No, don't worry about it. I definitely get the people who were trying to find fan theories about secret spies or other twists, as well as the people hoping for some big cameo. When the season has so little going on of interest, especially compared to the past seasons, it's natural to assume *something* will happen to spice things up. Even if some stupid twist like the Armourer being a spy or Boba Fett saving the day would have been dumb, I'd honestly take it over the alternative, which just left me with nothing to think about or chew on, and honestly no interest in a future season. I don't blame Vex or anyone for sharing their opinion, but I am disappointed at how many people are saying the season was "fine" and moving on. Seasons 1 and 2 were better than "fine". It's a different show of course, but Andor was a hell of a lot better than "fine". It's obviously okay to just enjoy a show that's fine and nothing more, but I hope people don't stop asking for or expecting more in their entertainment.
