✌💪UPDATE: A month later and the String butler has completely eradicated my tuning issues! HORRAY! Sting Butler - 1 Gibson - 0

Can't believe you're playing a Gibson wearing a Fender T-shirt. Got to say it sounded monster when you were ripping it. 'Until next time, keep rocking'

It's the non-staggered 3 a side on the LP that causes the issue as the angle is rectified by the nut and this causes the tuning issues. The SB allows that correction to happen before hitting the nut and is performed with a material that is extremely smooth and solid unlike the nut material. This does not happen on a 6 in a row style headstock (like a Fender) or a staggered 3 a side (like a PRS).

Hi Nick, good video. Only the black washers are positioned under the Strind Butler and the metal washers are placed over the String Butler! Rock on, Sven Dietrich

Tuning stability was actually better over time. Obviously had a new set of strings with some give in them. Would recommend!

@NickHallGuitarist Thanks for this, very helpful information. One question - its metal, right? Any concerns with it scratching the finish underneath, or creating a triangle shaped 'ghost' image as the finish elsewhere continues to age naturally?
@NickHallGuitarist

I am yet to remove it but concerns?! Yes I have concerns haha. Unfortunately Gibson continue to make guitars with the (well known) fault and make people like us resort to third party tools to make the guitars stay in tune. I assume you are in a similar predicament?
@cavbaron3634

Gibson's stay in tune as good as any other guitar. Some dude probably didn't know how to set his guitar up and said it doesn't stay in tune because its a gibson then boom everybody just ran with it. There might more of an angle on the string due to the nature of the 3×3 headstock but it's fine. Just set it up properly.

Cheers Cav, I've personally only ever had to do very minor set up alterations for guitars as they have always been fairly solid from the get go, especially in their tuning stability. I am just not used to the amount of extra work a gibson seems to require to keep in tune. I had tried lubing the nut etc but nothing worked until this.

First -lube the nut Second - 3-4 strings must be wind over the string(not under) due to big headtock angle 3-4 strings have more tension over nut. I have Dean V and it helps much

Thanks for the tip! :) Unfortunately this experience has left me with a bit of a sour taste towards Gibson. Its a design flaw, based on the amount of tension. They know its an issue, so just fix the issue!? Who cares what the percentage of the angle is on the headstock?? A consumer shouldn't have to go through this much effort to keep the guitar in tune right? Thanks for commenting :D !

@@NickHallGuitarist This is TRADITIONAL construction, so you can PLAY AUTHENTIC ... And use something for neck rest, Gibson headstock break is also TRADITIONAL feature to PLAY AUTHENTIC. P. S. Don't use alcochol containing polish for guitar, and try not to sweat, or say goodbye for nitro finish, Just soap foam, microfiber cloth for cleaning, and polish containing wax for final step

I just got my first Gibson about a month ago and tuning nightmares were one of my biggest worries. I'm either lucky or these issues are blown way out of proportion. I can go several days without having to tune at all or only needing the most minor of tweaks. The G string gives me no real problems. Which is on par with if not better than with any other good quality guitar I've had. And I bought a "minor blem" model! Maybe just luck I guess.
@NickHallGuitarist

That's good to know! What model did you go for? As I have a suspicion that anything under 1k could be potentially troublesome for tuning due to manufacturing methods.

@@NickHallGuitarist I have a 60s Standard. But according to the internet tuning stability is a problem across all Les Pauls from your entry level Epiphones to the $5k Customs. That's why I was worried about.

Totally agree! I owned this guitar for 3 years. It was unusable until I got this third party hardware to rectify. Never had to touch a thing with Fender to make their guitars playable!
