Powder in warm water, pre-soak items in warm water and SALT OR Vinegar depending on the Fabric, wash at 90°, if you have skipped the soaking, the you can go ahead and start the cycle, then add the diluted colouring powder, and the salt or vinegar. Once it's done you do a simple rinse or quick wash in cold water. Hot then cold. In the traditional method you simply put them on the stove with the powder, salt/vinegar, then the fabrics, bring them to boil, leave to cool, then rinse in COLD water until clean, to fix the colour.

Well done you 💖 Imma do this but please don't use bleach in your machine as it would degrade the rubber seal and having to change those (by yourself) is a achievable, but a nightmare 🙄😩😔 xxx

Hi did this effect your washing machine. I’ve just brought my washing machine but my jeans are in drastic need of dying. So I’m a bit sceptical x

georgiakatie2010 no it was completely fine, I think the first load I did afterwards was darks just to be on the safe side but there were no issues and I didn’t notice any difference even in that first load xx

You have probably tried it by now but if you haven't all I can say is I followed the instructions on the packet on an old favourite jogging hoodie top which had turned purple from the original black it was that old.It also had a large accidental bleach stain on the front. It turned out so well I wished I had put more faded black items in the wash with it. you could just tell where the bleach stain had been as the black was slightly lighter but almost impertceptible - you would have to be looking reallt hard to see it. I ran the wash cysle after with no clothes in to clean any residue and I have not seen any staining on clothes since. In short I think it works well but follow the instructions to the letter and note it is poisonous - wear rubber gloves and keep the stuff of your hands. Also put more clothes in rather than one item to make it more cost effective.

Tried this and basically items turn black, then you wash like the instructions suggest, then the black goes and items are murky grey. Hope you have more luck than myself.

Tony Culley how strange, what fabric are you trying to dye? I‘ve used it for jersey dungarees and jeans and they’ve come out fine and lasted really well. If the fabric is too synthetic I’ve found it doesn’t work as well or If there is too much in the machine. It works better on smaller loads x

Ok so I have the same packet but it says add a kg of salt, why has no one added salt? I've watched 5 different videos and I'm so confused and frustrated. Am I the only person who has a pack that says salt???
@rickydawn4431

Yeah there's different packs, some need salt and some need to be soaked in the dye and salt before washing - get the DYLON Washing Machine Fabric Dye Pod rather than the packets and you just put the pod in the washing machine.

I think she did add salt, but didn't mention it. I've been changing the colours of my clothes, for over fifty years, both on the top of the cooker and in the machine, with no problems whatsoever!

You don't have to add salt to all of them, I have a pack from Dylon and you just put it in the washing machine - but I did see other packs that said you needed salt. These are the best and don't need salt: DYLON Washing Machine Fabric Dye Pod
