Happy New Year! I know that the idea of this peep is not new: it was already used by Honinbo Shuei more than a century ago (Go Seigen also used it several times). There are many ideas like that that now surprise us and we believe that they were AlphaGo's creations (like the move 15 of the second game of AG vs Lee Sedol, which disconcerted all the professionals: this same peep iIN THE SAME JOSEKI I had already seen in a game of Master Sakata Eio in the NHK -NHK 23 TV tournaments, for more information-. Keep up with these videos, you have a beautiful Baduk channel!

9:45 How is this bad for black? Black gets the corner and white's sole stone on the left is weak. White just gets a ponnuki on the right side. I suppose white gets great thickness there too after a few moves, and black's corner isn't big yet bc of the monkey jump threat which will cost a move in the early endgame to shore up. I don't think you're wrong ofc, I'm only 5k. Usually I feel the same assessment of a position you say but I don't here. After talking thru it here I might see it better but I'm not confident. Love your content! So thankful for English-speaking Go pros.

At 12:10, it looks like b can play at 16-1 for the eyes and w 4 stones in the corner are just dead. How is this result favor white?
@ZeekCannon
4 жыл бұрын
W sacrificed these stones to get an extremely powerful wall facing left side and a little bit of aji on right side as he may be able to threaten to save them later, depending what happens
