Forgot to mention his exposed hairy legs. All of Doflamingo's design spells Goofy-Saturday-Morning-Cartoon-Villain. However, his body language and sharp lines all over his character design tells the opposite of that. He is a threat! A menace even. Which paints another sharp contrast between his antagonistic behaviour while still being portrayed as human, despite all the heinous crimes he has committed. Doflamingo is a masterclass in narrative and character design. No matter how goofy he looks at first glance.

@lisboah On one hand, there were things outside his control ,like how woefully naive his father was, but on the other hand, the actions he did, yeah he was bad to the bone. And really, what we're seeing is someone who would have been evil no matter where his life would have ended up. It's ironic in that Corazon means "heart" in Spanish because hearts can end up being dark or light and in Corazon's case he clearly was aligned to the latter.

Something else that makes Doflamingo interesting is his messed up sense of empathy. He burns down entire towns so Baby 5 isn't taken advantage of, then proceeds to use her more than anyone else. He claims that his family is more important than anyone else, but won't hesitate to throw their lives away for his convenience. He seeks out the most messed up, vulnerable individuals, so he can make them into fully devoted servants, a fate nearly shared by Law if not for Corazon. Anyway, it's all about the SMILES!

He likes having people who are devoted to him pump up his ego and he doesn’t mind returning the favor when he can. But if he decides that their deaths are necessary, nothing will stop him. His full proof plan is either guaranteeing that his crew are loyal enough to die without complaint, or treating the fact that they aren’t loyal enough to die as the reason that they should. Another thing about Doflamingo's glasses and glasses in general for One Piece that doesn't get talked about is their connection to the wearers viewpoint of the world, Captain Kuro, the villain of the now ancient Syrup Village Arc, had a desire to create the perfect plan of cozying up with a rich heiress, making her write him in her will and then having his crew rampage through the village and kill her, leaving him Kaya's wealth and a new life free from piracy. Thing is his glasses, much like his plan, are shakey and don't quite fit at the best of times, causing him to have to make little adjustments here and there both with the glasses and the plan. Then when Merry, Kaya's butler, presents Kuro with a new pair of glasses Kaya bought specifically for him that would fit much easier, he smashes them, why you may ask? because symbolically it means that taking those glasses would mean giving up on his "perfect plan", an idea which he clearly despises. It's the same with Doflamingo's glasses being tinted and slightly warped looking, Doflamingo, being a celestial dragon that fell from the heavens, has a warped and altered view of the world, and even when Luffy beats him and he gets locked up he still wears those glasses, even when he's chained to the floor.

He knows exactly how the world works and know exactly which to blackmail, kill, or enslave. Even after he was beaten and jailed after Dressrosa, he still has some cards on the table as he casually asks Magellan who's coming to kill him now. He KNOWS the secrets the Celestial Dragons/Gorosei that they would do anything to stay secret. Great backstory that explains why he's evil; competent as heck, and also provides a great challenge to the Straw Hats and Law. All in all, he's one of those individuals who is a fountain of charisma. For me, my favorite Doffy moment(SERIES SPOILERS) is his speech about the Throne Wars when he talks about how his downfall would usher the world changing so radically. Backstory while it can use for sympathy sometime are just used a reason why the villain the way they are. I never could make it past a few episodes of one piece or Naruto dubbed cause the 2 main protagonists have THE most annoying voices I’ve ever heard. Meanwhile their Japanese version has so much more character even with me not understanding the language. It’s the inflection as well as the actual sound that changes so much about the character. There are some anime’s I prefer or at least put the dub right there with the original (demon slayer, dbz, inyuyasha, yu yu hakusho, samurai champloo, cowboy bebop - on that note kind of any toonami aired shows with Steve bloom playing a main character) but one piece and Naruto remain the shining examples of watch that shit in Japanese if you actually want to watch it. Doffy counts to my favorite villians in OP together with moria, magelan and crocodil ^^ but with doffy its different because he was the most successful out of the bunch. Sure u could say magelan as well but thats not about him rn. Doffy got this right mix, he cared for his crew but at the same time was a horrible person and a monster. Usually i dont like the celestial dragons because they act like theyre supreme but with doffy he can back it up and the nice change of pace really helps his case out :3 Also, the fact that he got such a close relation to law (kinda his uncle if u wanna put it that way, because cora-san was law dad in a way) and they foiled each other but we getting off track. Doffy is often evil for evil sake and as u said, its enteraining and also know things we dont know yet which will be an important reveal later on (i hope ^^')

I’d say two things you missed out on is doflamingo’s jp laugh that’s the biggest offense in this whole video lol and the the second would be that we didn’t have an inkling on what his powers were before the timeskip. We saw this man in a war cleave off a giants leg, cleanly, and then control both pirates and marines to fight everyone. He was pure chaos and it was unnerving

Not bad with Dio, but would love to see your take on the other 2 of the big 3 80's villains Roah the conqueror and white hawk Griffith

Doflamingo's smile is so rad it could set off a Geiger meter.

I can see Donflamingo hosting a poetry slam in Enpel Down and totally crushing it tbh.
