Update, please see original comments. We have no advice. Our situation was ours. Our final day was pacing 12+ hrs non stop. Every day prior was just more and more. We made the hard decision, for her, as the quality of life disappeared almost overnight. We don't answer questions as we have no answers only the hard truth of our experience. Enjoy what ever time you have left, and God bless.

It's sad to see this video because she looks really healthy. I Lost my male Lab in September and I still cry daily for having to euthanize him. Both mine and your dog had a good quality of life with the best Humans possible. We are both lucky to have the 2 loyal best friends anyone could of had. I Pray someday that their is a cure for this sort of thing that attacks any tumors that may exist in our pets brain. To lower the cost down on the treatment. I feel for you and your family. My memories with Roxas will last a lifetime. God Bless you for taking the strength to show your video. It might help someone get their canine the treatment they need. Sorry for Loss of your family member.

I am sorry for you loss. She was a beautiful dog. I have a shih-tzu who has been doing this. Waiting for bloodwork results from his vet visit on monday. It could be vestibular syndrome, which is more of a mental fog syndrome. It could be dementia. It could be serious, like a liver disease, or brain tumor. My dog eats and drinks, but the circling continues. I would think a brain tumor would cause his head to hurt, but i do pet him on the head and he doesn't yelp or anything. Again, I am sorry for your loss. 💔🙏😥

Her circling was just like the video... and the head titling to one side... IT BROKE MY HEART.. she was and will always be my love of my life in my heart.. she was the sweetest kindest dog every and got along with every dog cat and human.. even a horse.. she was just so special .. As a follow up, the situation rapidly got worse. We had to have her put to sleep within a few weeks (less than 3), of the 1st sign of symptoms. Her 2nd to last day she circled non-stop from around 2pm until 3am. She wouldn't stop, couldn't stop. Not for water or anything. We tried to hold her down and she would just get up and start again. The next day we made the hard decision for her. We miss her terribly. She was the greatest dog ever!

Watching the video has made it easier for me to understand and come to terms with what could be in store for us with our gorgeous 14 year old dog who has recently started circling more and more frequently. So thank you for making it easier for me to know when to make the decision that nobody wants to have to make about their pet, but which is the kindest thing to do when their quality of life is compromised so badly.....

My French bulldog was diagnosed with this condition, he is only 5 years old, at first he just had some tremors while sleeping and no vet could figure out what was happening, after a few months from day to night he started to have this compulsive rhythm like in the video, but without tipping over to one specific side, just doing the same route around the house over and over again and not sleeping at night. We did a CT scan and discovered his true condition, he continues to eat normally, drink water and relieve himself, and I can say that more than any anti-inflammatory, it really helped him get back to sleep and improve his compulsive walking (now slower and with some pauses with him sitting or doing something else) that's when we gave melatonin (human). The doctor said that nothing would help but this really helped, he is 15kg and we are giving him a dose of 30mg of melatonin per day, dividing 15 in the morning and 15 at night, I feel that his quality of life has improved a lot, he can actually sleep and is calmer, managing to get out of this state of compulsive walking more easily and having more autonomy.

Thank you for posting this. My 19 yo Jack Russell had started with the circling about 4-5 mos ago,and was just getting worse and worse. She was falling, had a head tilt and was getting stuck in corners and under furniture. I've been agonizing over not getting an MRI to confirm a tumor. They would have had to put her anesthesia. I don't know if I made the right choice to put her to sleep. It will haunt me forever. I'm completely heartbroken. She was a cancer survivor over a year prior. She may have also gone completely blind but it was hard to tell b/c of the circling.

My jesse began circling for over a year . Last 6 months she would go potty in the house and like your dog she would never do that . It not incontinence she just doesnt know to go outside . I decided to use diapers and it was a game changer not having to have to take her out every hour . She is able to hold her bladder at night so thats ok . She has been diabetic for over 10 years and had epilepsy all her life until the last 4 years where she went in remission . She is actually doing a bit better lately . With jesse it wasnt the end and she is still cognitive and still present . I think part of it maybe a loss of sight or depth perception trying to lacate where they are maybe through smell and just get stuck . I think for vets to say its this and that is not helpful if you dont know . Just say we dont know and can't give you a prognosis . My jesse has beat the odds many times and we have found solutions to her challenges and she is happy and loved so she can stay as long as she wants . She is not in any sever pain and still goes on walks . As long as I can look at her and she is still jesse and not in terrible pain and is eating and drinking she can stay as long as she wants and I am fine taking care of her needs . I have taken care of her since she was 5 years old being diabetic and since a puppy being epileptic and she has lived a happy dogs life with some limitations

My Shtz/Maltese 13...started having seizures at the beginning of this year 2021 but vets said it was due to pain from arthritis. Put on seizure meds and they stopped but 2 weeks ago she started veering to the left and then circling and dragged her back left leg.. Back to vet who informed me there was some activity going on in her brain, possibly a brain tumour. I then mentioned about the seizures she had earlier in the year and the answe was... ohhhh!!!!! well it could have been the first sign of a tumour. Great answer for a dog that is going to have to be put to sleep very soon. I now have to let this little lady pass that has been my sole family, best travelling mate (over 80.000kl in caravan) and closest friend I will ever have... Am so dreading it.. .

I give him meclizine and dramamine and it usually calms him down.. but he want stop till he is completely exhausted.. he's also been to the vet numerous times.. and all test are great.. they think it's a tumor.. but isn't certain.. I've read everyone's post about having their babies put to sleep and I can't even think about that.. he is such an awesome boy.. and a huge part of our family.. we have had a few dogs in the past.. that we have had to do that with.. our labrador was 23 years old when she started having seizures.. and moby is our healing dog.. and I can't let him go... please pray for my baby boy!💔💔💔💔💔

best thing to do is put him to sleep, mine was normal doberman and overnight he started stumbling, wouldnt even recognize me, looked like he went blind, would get stuck in places and started peeing blood. when he went to sleep he would be shaking like he had hyperthormia and i would try to wake him up and he wouldnt wake up only on his own. it was painful but my vet said best thing to do is put him to sleep because it wold cost me thousands and not guaranteed he would make it.

I watched many of these videos when my dog had her first seizure just 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I cant believe I'm now writing I had to put her to sleep just 3hrs ago, I'm devastated beyond words. She went from having a slight limp to disorientated, blind in one eye, could barely walk or function after just 1 seizure. She too could not stop pacing, ears went back, didn't know how to drink (a tip if anyone has similar problem, I put cooked chicken juices and a TSP of cat food in her water and she was able to drink a lot better) Every night she paced til out of breath and being able to go to the toilet became a small victory. She had a terrible night of what I can only describe as conscious seizures and vomiting, she was dying :( only diazepam calmed her down, I was terrified, you feel so helpless. It all happened so quickly, just 2 weeks ago she was full of life and happy, I'm struggling to process it all, my day revolved around her, I feel utterly lost without her. Love your dog with all your heart, it hurts like hell but the love returned will stay with you forever

So much sadness we feel for our pets & more. So sad. I know every tumor is not the same and some do spread. I learned a lot of good with natural healing & when I get tumors and "not" or any indication of what I did, may not be for you or pet to do however; my pet has started the circling at 14yrs and started him with my receipe I did for me as follows: squeeze fresh lemon in the water with squeezed grapefruit. Only some tumors do shrink. Ask your vet. Always plenty water for them. My pet had a rear tumor & also gave alternating for 1 week "not mixing" but, Enichea Tea in water some drippings. Then took the warm Enichea tea bag & held it on the tumor 15 minutes twice a day for 4 days then; placed a warm Chamomile tea bag a couple days & tumor went down. His health improved from shrinking the tumor but waiting results on lemon & grapefruit for the circling. Hope is love!

I know this was 4 years ago, but I am so sorry brother. She looks like she was the best girl. My chihuahua who is 13 years old just 3 weeks ago went from absolutely healthy and normal to me waking up at 7pm with her sleeping with me in the bed to her having a grand mal seizure. I completely broke down crying and freaking out and took her to the emergency vet. Her blood work was perfect and they gave me valium for onset of other seizures. I took her to the regular vet 3 days later after another seizure and they said she has a brain tumor. Within a couple weeks her vision completely went. She is totally blind now. I have her on anti seizure meds and so far for 3 weeks we havent had another seizure, however her motor functions are severely impaired compared to how she used to be. She gets around the house, but bumps into things because of the blindness, and she will list to one side and wobble when she walks sometimes. I have a followup november 8th with her vet. As long as shes still up walking around and eating and drinking good and snacking im going to keep her with me. When it gets to the point her quality of life isnt there anymore im going to make the hardest decision of my life and have her put to sleep. She will be with my mom and dad again up in heaven.

This is the second time I was sad, my heart is broken. That's why I did't want another dog. I have 3 dogs, all adopted! Sorry for my English. Thanks for answered me. I really appreciated.

I have experienced that with my 5 year old English bulldog. It has been absolutely horrific to see him go through. They never did diagnose him as all tests came back normal. They suggested to go to Saskatoon as there was a teaching veterinary hispital. Or, go to Ontario or the US. This has been one of the hardest emotional situation, I'm still crying, grieving and depressed. After spending $3,000.00 on my chunky in a week and a half, finally decided to end his pain. I'm devastated, missing him like crazy. God bless anyone and their fur friends that are going this.

Thank you for posting this video. Our beloved Iorek showed these symptoms and he was sick for over a year. He also stopped drinking water completely, was fully confused at times, vomited, but at times he would come back and sort of remember who we were. He deteriorated very slowly and a week ago we put him to sleep. It was one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to take. He was on anti-inflammatory drugs and pain killers, but in one final seizure he ended up blind. He was euthanised here, at home. I tried, unsuccessfully, to close his eyes; those eyes that always stared back at me as if I was the best person in the world.

We too had to put our little boy to sleep 2 days ago. The same symptoms happened last week. I thought he was having a heat stroke and then the seizures came. Had to rush him to the vet and did some blood works. After 2 blood works with 2 diff vets who said it could be a brain tumor, I was devastated. The day before we had to put him to sleep he was crying in pain and thats when we decided that it’s time. He was my first dog and never experienced so pain when i see him suffering. I miss him terribly. Today, we need to go back to the vet to pick up his cremains. He is almost 13 and a lhasa apso mix. I wish there would be more studies about this disease on our fur family pets so it can be prevented.

Oh Erik, as sad as this video is I am grateful you posted it. Two years ago tomorrow we made the decision you made, a mirror in time. Our beloved dog had the same symptoms, when she did rest her eyes showed she was in pain and pleading. The vet gave her tablets to help with pain but they made her vomit, she was on liver tablets and joint medication. All this was leading to the decision she didn't have a quality of life. The day she pulled to go home during a walk was another factor in realising she was just being loyal in not giving up. The pain of the decision to let her go was the hardest we have ever made. I still miss her dreadfully and feel so guilty because she was such a loyal dog. I made a video of her behaviour to show the vet he said it could be a tumour or canine dementia he offered tests but like you why put an old dog (15) through it all. Thank you so much, I am so comforted by your video, the guilt has eased a little for me.

This is extremely helpful in my grief as I just put my 15 year old yorkie. It got so bad so fast and was in a state of shock when I made the decision to put her to sleep. Compulsion is the right word, couldn’t stop and was at a loss at night, sobbing and wanting to put her out of her misery. Within a period of 7 days I put her down. I keep thinking if I just waited she would’ve gotten better. This really really helps me feel at peace with my decision, despite how hard it was.

To add, her circling led to only walking against the wall or against something which made her ears bleed. The rubbing got really intense that she would shove herself under crevices to find relief, and get stuck. This helped me measure how bad things got by day. So so fast 😢

We said good bye to our girl Lola December 18, 2021, just 10 days after her 11th BD. What was first diagnosed as an inner ear infection turned out being a tumor wrapped around her trigeminal nerve. That left us with only one unenviable decision to make....condolences/good thoughts to those who experienced or are experiencing this situation. If there is a such thing as a God fingers crossed we will all meet up with them again.

Thank you for sharing this. Our beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Gabby, is going through the exact same thing. She is 11.5 years old and so loving - as part of our family. But she no longer can enjoy all of this things she used to. She has to just circle all the time. She can't stop - it's heartbreaking to watch. And all of this declined so quickly - in just 1.5 months. We presume brain tumor and will need to make the hard decision soon to give her peace. Though its so sad - it is helpful to know that we are making the right choice for her and that others have had a similar experience.

I'm so sorry to hear. FYI ours went from normal is different almost overnight and within 3 weeks was circling nonstop, un-stoppable, for 3-5, 8 hrs non stop. Would not, could not, stop herself. We had to make the hard decision for her. Still my greatest loss. She was the best dog ever.

We have a Parson Russell Terrier we got from a shelter. Never quite sure her exact age but vet said (now) approx 8-10 years old, maybe older? She started spinning. However she’s still eats well and drinks her water. Although an older dog, she still takes her daily walks although she has slowed down. It seems she spins a lot more at night. I have found that after she spins a while, I use frankincense essential oil (actually a combination of frankincense and myrrh). I rub it between my hands then let her smell it and gently massage it on her head, ears, back to her nose and while it’s not always 100% effective, I find there has been many times it has calmed her where she’ll actually lay down and fall asleep. Several times I lifted her and placed her in a comfy spot (her bed, my bed or my husband’s recliner which she loves) and she just falls asleep! I actually read an article by Dr. Marty who recommends this (strictly frankincense oil what he recommends) when dogs are anxious, etc.

@@pierretampa do you have an update? My dog started doing this last week and it's been a nightmare trying to get him in to see a neurologist. He's only 8 but had a mast cell tumor removed from his chest at age 3. I'm finally driving 2 hours tomorrow morning to see one and hopefully have a MRI done. He circles to the right non stop and his balance is very poor, happened almost overnight as he is very healthy otherwise. Thank you in advance and I hope your pup is doing well.

Aaw, poor girl. I'm sorry for this heartbreaking situation and anticipated loss. She is using a lot of glucose to continue so much activity, please don't wait to put her to sleep. Thank you for sharing your video and thinking of others at this sad time, it is very generous of you. My Chihuahua/Papillon mix is 12 and has been progressively showing strange personality changes. He is very fuzzy but I noticed today that he has very quickly become quite thin despite a good appetite. I'm a Retired RN and so the first thought I had was cancer. Today very suddenly during his usual bath and clipping he became hysterical, screaming barking and yelping for over an hour. The poor little guy has no teeth but he spent an hour repeatedly biting me between screams. The aggression is a huge change, he has never bitten me before! He isolates and has stopped barking at the door bell or his usual perceived intrusions. I think I will soon be facing sadness similar to yours. 🙏💐
