@doctorcurtiso.7853
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for supporting my content! If I understand your questions correctly, its pretty spread evenly for locum a for a particular company at a particular hospital but it can definitely be uneven across different locum companies at different hospitals just because every hospital has their own unique system that they have in place which affects the locum company using their docs at that particular place. Hope that makes sense and answers your question

Great content! I am a first-year med student and I am really interested in locum tenens. As you talked about and what I heard the pay rate is a lot more especially when you can negotiate a higher rate, however, I have also heard that the locum companies that you work for take a large percentage of it. I have been looking for the average number of what they charge, do you know by any chance? I wasn't sure because I thought I read that the percentage that some companies take is not even worth it, so I got confused how locum docs make that much. Please let me know, thank you :)

What’s up Hamza, Are you talking about locums as a Hospitalist?
@taliaengstrom6601
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Hamza! My name is Talia, I am actually a consultant specifically for locums AND I work with Hospitalists! So, when you work for a locums company, you are not charged anything. We pay you! We charge the client (i.e., the hospital who hires US to hire YOU). It is always a locum consultant’s job to get the best rate possible for the provider. Actually just today, I refused an offer from a hospital for my provider, because I knew that it in no way reflected my provider’s capabilities. There are, unfortunately, locum companies who try to undersell their provider just to ensure that they get a listing with a hospital. That is not what they should be doing! I know this post was 10 months ago, but I happened to be on and Dr. Curis O. caught my attention, and I noticed your comment! :) Let me know if I can help you out! :)

Hey hey, I've been doing locums only since 2018 as a hospitalist. First few yrs I did 14 on 14 off and then cut back to 7 on 21 off at age 40 last yr(make $170K/yr working 12 weeks a yr). Never sign a contract with a hospital if you can avoid it. If you hate a hospital with locums then just never go back.
