Join Anna & Alf in DOLGARROG,CONWY VALLEY, NORTH WALES UK as they visit the site of where THE DOLGARROG DAM DISASTER OF 2nd NOVEMBER 1925 happened.
DISASTER struck DOLGARROG on a dark and stormy night in this small village that night when part of the three quarters of a mile dam at LLYN EIGIAU up high in the shadow of THE CARNEDDAU MOUNTAINS above DOLGARROG near LLANWRST fractured after two weeks of continual heavy rain and released a large volume of water down the valley causing the death of 16 people and all of the buildings except one to be destroyed.
In this Video / Slideshow Anna tells the story of what happened that stormy night and how the disaster led PARLIAMENT TO PASS THE RESERVOIR S ( SAFETY PROVISIONS) ACT IN 1930 that introduced laws on the safety of reservoirs. This has since been updated and the current one is THE RESERVOIRS ACT, 1975
On this site in 2004 , a circular memorial walk was opened showing the boulders that came down and telling the story of what happened and this is where Anna & Alf are today.
