@@theaussielawn thanks Brenton, in all honesty I have given it away for winter and focus is on building 90m of double lapped timber fence on one side of my block on the weekends at the moment and then onto a retaining wall when time permits. I'm planning an full renovation for spring with over seeding of blue couch, as I already have some growing into the winter green that I put down 4 years ago. You made comment in your video that you aren't seeing daylight due to your work at the moment which got me thinking how you manage the frequency of mowing with a cylinder mower? From my understanding it needs to be a few times each week.. right? and obviously less during winter. I'm using a John Deere ride on as i'm limited to weekend mowing because of work commitments but would like to go down the cylinder mower route. Happy to hear your thoughts? cheers Adam
@theaussielawn

@@adamnikodem5280 I would have given it away during winter usually myself mate but now Ive got this circus happening Im keeping it ticking over. Thats quite a fence you have going on there, hope you have a straight eye LOL. Re the mowing: its not too bad in winter as the lawns don't really grow and in the summer there is just enough daylight to cut the most important lawns (front and green) the buffalo waits and the rest is on a John Deere ride on so again not so important. Nothing beats a cylinder mower for cut quality but it is extra work and expense. It just depends how much time and money you are prepared to invest in your patch of green goodness. Cheers Brenton

Ahh good info again here. I’ve bloody got a fungal disease 🦠 On my newish lawns, so sprayed it with Volta that I brought though Lawn Pride locally. Sprayed it last weekend, oddly the vast mushrooms that I had leading up to when I noticed the disease had stopped popping up, though now the mushrooms are back since spraying and even getting some new types popping up. I’m I right in thinking that Volta would also kill off mushroom growth? I’m on the QLd Lawnie Facebook site too where I posted some snaps and others concurred on fungal, I’ve not asked about mushrooms though. Those small skinny stalked ones plus small dark brown ones are present now. What are your comments Brenton on Volta and mushrooms please.
@theaussielawn
2 жыл бұрын
Mushrooms being a fungi could quite possibly be effected by a fungicide. Ive not used that fungicide myself but it seems to be a weaker version of "Chief Aquaflo" Mushrroms generally indicate good soil health and decomposing organic matter in the soil profile. Obviously if they are in a ring formation it could be fairy ring.

Excellent video content! Its just appeared on my Kikuyu, last year I used Mancozeb which seemed to work. Any thoughts on Mancozeb versus what you've used in this presentation? 4 жыл бұрын
G'day Lachlan, Thanks for tuning in to my channel. Mancozeb has been around for what seems like forever now I have used it myself in times gone by. It really is one to be careful with as is now being linked to various health concerns so if you're using it remember your PPE. It's always best practice to never apply the same group of chemical more than twice in a row for example Mancozeb is group 3 and Chief Aquaflo is group 2. so maybe if you have regular disease issues having the 2 to rotate between could be helpful long term Cheers Brenton

G'day Brenton, thanks for the video. Fungal issues are an ongoing battle for my seashore paspalum, despite following good practices. I've used Ipriodine in the past (free sample from turf supplier), but have read it's a good idea to rotate fungicides to avoid resistance. What's your view on adopting a preventative program throughout the year? And if you do go down that path, is it just a matter of alternating between two groups, e.g. Ipriodine and Propiconazole?
@theaussielawn
4 жыл бұрын
G'day Steve, Yeah its important to rotate your group pesticides in general, most will say it on the label if its of most importance (these fungicides being in that list) Absolutely prevention is better than cure but i would be still trying to limit my chemical applications as much as possible. (which im sure you are) TBH I have had no exposure to Seashore Pas firsthand. Its also worth noting thats the first time I've fallen victim to a turf fungal infection outside of my greenkeeping days. Have a great weekend Cheers Brenton
