This was super easy to understand. Thank you. I am also glad that you showed that the plugs can be directly plugged into the socket without having to remove all the prongs and stuff. None of the other tutorials i've seen have mentioned that.

Try an 8 volt, 1 amp doorbell transformer - cheaper and available most DIY stores - also the 8volts under-runs the bulbs so they last longer.

First time I see extension cords that small.

You need to be careful with the extensions. Each transformer is rated for so many light bulbs. When you add extensions you still need to count all the bulbs. Just because there are more plug holes doesn't mean you can add more bulbs than the transformer can handle.

Thank you for a clear video that has demystified some of this for me. 1 question, as long as I maintain the number of bulbs that the transformer can handle how many of those 2 hole strips can I plug into a single transformer? I am assuming each plug takes one light fixture so as long as I keep my bulb limit at what the transformer can hold can I plug-in as many strips as I want to? Thank you 😃

Hi Luna, The transformer is really only made for 1 power strip but you can plug multiple sockets into the power strip (like a 3 plug socket)

thanks for the video. Will this work also for european type plugs? I've tested one lamp and it lights up very little and not in a stable way. Thanx

Hi, Everything is the same for European lights except the transformer which will have the European standard style plug. If the lamp isn't working correctly make sure the bulb is screwed in nice and tight. Mostly likely it is the bulb or a bad wiring in the lamp. You can also reset the plugs, sometimes the wire can loosen in the plug part.

I followed your instructions, but when I plugged my lights into a multiple plug base unit for some reason , the lights get very dim.When I plug them one at a time they are very bright even when I use the extension cord and but when I plug in more than one light, they dim again or some doesn't work at all.

I cannot find a transformer with 20 watts that has the two screws to plug in the prongs. Where did you purchase yours from? Thanks

Thank you for making this video. What transformer for a minimum number of lights, please? I am in Australia, and no info is given in online shops about size.

Hi Margarita, I am not sure if the wattages are the same on US/Australian transformers. We have 10 watt transformers which supports 10 bulbs, 20 watts for 16 bulbs, and of course, larger ones too.

Can you plug the power strip into a battery pack instead of the wall transformer?
@MiniatureCrush

I haven't seen a battery pack that you could plug a power strip into. That doesn't mean they don't exist but I don't know of one.

What about the actual lights? Do they have removable bulbs?
@MiniatureCrush

Most light fixtures have replaceable bulbs but before purchasing any you might want to ask.

Would this be dangerous to put in a kids dollhouse?
@MiniatureCrush

It wouldn't be dangerous but they are delicate. There are some good LED Battery operated lights that might work better in a kids dollhouse like these: miniaturecrush.com/collections/led-lights
