I think this might be my favourite Burgundy with Tweedy video.

Hi Tweedy. With the misses out numbering the hits, this fine wine hobby is not for the faint hearted. I admire your resolve to keep chancing your luck. Delighted for you that this one finally was a hit. 👏👏👍😀🍷

In the woods drinking wine enjoyable, would it take on a different complexity with a meal?

Some of you wine buffs are so blessed. As a senior citizen on a State Retirement pension, the cheapest Gevrey Chambertin available to me in the UK costs £49. I have been drinking a palatable Fief Guerin Muscadet Cotes De Grandlieu Sur Lie that retails at £9.99. I call it my house white and manage to consume three bottles a week. Years ago my business lunches were not so frugally constrained. Memories.

I'm not in the wine industry and I pay for all the wine myself. Most other people on the internet doing any kind of fine wine tasting "content" are almost certainly being given the wine for free. It is undoubtedly an expensive hobby but then a lot of hobbies are - from stamp collecting to people who spend tens of thousands modifying their cars. Or even people who constantly pour cash into property for home renovation. It's my only indulgence really now. I absolutely don't think Burgundy provides good value for money!

Burgundy is so hard to get right since as a producer you often have a very limited amount of grapes that all are the same variety. They have way less options for blending compared to many other regions of the world.

they don't blend grapes from GC to village level, only regional is blended but it's usually just an OK wine

@@v71123 I might be mistaken, but for the village level, you could theoretically blend grapes from from multiple plots of a village provided that all the grapes come from the same village.

I only really like big,powerful reds like Shiraz, I like certain Pinot Noir and Malbec and Barolo varieties. I started my red wine journey drinking Cabernet Sauvignon. The thing is I have tried Burgandy and it seems a bit too light for me. What’s the ‘heaviest’ tasting Burgandy and I’ll try a pint of it and see how I go. Thanks John, great video and you remind me of Floyd because it was his character, his persona, his well spoken manner that made me watch his videos and his cooking was secondary. Someone once told me they met Keith Floyd once and got the feeling he would have a drink with a prince or a pauper and still talk to them he had no airs and graces!

Burgundy wine should not be heavy. It can be very complex and elegant if you are lucky. For Americans like you there is the Chateaux de Pommard where they make wine for you and it's overpriced :)

Interesting about number of 'misses'. I seem to be having more misses then hits recently. Only one really bad. The rest were nothing special. If you get a good one its VERY good and lovely to drink. But more ' misses ' then I thought they would be.

Good pointing (spider). Not qualified to speak to the Burgundy (he says, quaffing a bottle of Stowford Press).

why are you drinking such a great wine from a REALLY DIRTY glass? Disgusting!
@BurgundyWithTweedy

It's not dirty, it's slightly clouded from repeated use. It's made from a kind of plastic called Tritan. Yes I would absolutely prefer proper glass, which is of course what I use at home, but this was filmed in a public space outdoors. The vast majority of wine glasses break extremely easily if you just put them in a bag or accidentally knock them over. In my own home that's my problem, but in a public space leaving shards of broken glass around feels very irresponsible.
