It's definitely the most comprehensive of the second edition core campaign books, it finally had rules for Native PC's which was a huge deal cause literally before this point, Ravenloft was treated like a sub setting that people came to but always wanted to escape. And don't get me wrong I like the outlander thing, it makes it so you can have Ravenloft just appear in other settings and drag them into the horror. But I also like the idea that there are people who live in Ravenloft and who's entire lives are to struggle and make their world a better place. I still wish they had added some maps and maybe a tarroka deck to go with the book or at least a new tarroka deck to be sold at the same time.

Thanks for your content, i love it! I have a question: i have this book. Should i also buy: Islands of Terror and the core rule box set if i really want to have all the infos about all the domains and the drak lords or is it really enough to just go with domain of dread?

Hi. Im a big Ravenloft fan and I am so glad that you have done this channel to review all the products. I started running Ravenloft in second edition but keep runnin the setting during the third edition era. I'm a big fan of the fifth edition and I think the game can be easily adapted to 5E. I would advise you to take a look at the awesome non official but netherless great adaptation of the setting to Savage Worlds under the name Ravenloft Reincarnated. You can find it on the Fraternity of Shadows website. I honestly think that Savage Worlds could be a better system to experience the setting's mood, even if AD&D, D&D3 or 3.5 or 5E are good too. Thank you again for the cool reviews.

I love Ravenloft and am glad to put out videos for fellow ravenloft lovers such as yourself. I do like savage worlds but i think that Ravenloft is a great ip and for hasbro to just sit on it is just stupid.

Nice review. Apparently they are making a new book of this kind for 5th edition and are making changes to some of the lands and the darklords. I think I'll buy this one to get the classic villians, but who knows maybe the new book will remake some of them in a good way.

hiya. I am kind of new to everything and I ( we/the group and I) have decided for 2e. not bad huh ;). I have a lil question. So in regards to 2e; domains of dread is the definitive RL core book.? cheers for your help.

For AD&D 2nd Ed, Domains of Dread was the definitive and the last core book for Ravenloft. However, during the D&D 3.X era (2001-2005) the licensed Sword & Sorcery books did a great job expanding the lore and character creation in most of the Realms in Ravenloft. Chek out the rulebooks reviews, also the gazetteers included a lot of information for your adventures and campaigns.
